Title: 2-Way Check-In for SCP?
Description: how about a radio roll-call
amhildreth - August 22, 2003 02:50 PM (GMT)
While at work this morning, I was thinking that we could have a radio "check-in" using FRS radios when we arrive at EMR. With all of us arriving at different times, perhaps those of us with FRS radios could have a pre-selected channel and give a shout on the frequency when we arrive? It might make things a little easier to find a central SCP area, or at least other members. Honestly - working in broadcasting, I'm not sure why I didn't think of this sooner

If all works as planned, there will be no question as to where the SCP command area is , but i stillhave a few things to work out.. so the radio call is a great idea as well.. lets make it a main channel for check in to make things quick and easy.. we can switch over to sub channels later on... :)

I have 2 cheap Cobra FRS radio I could bring. That's a good idea. Specially for us who will be complete noobs trying to figure out where to go after parking with the rest of the masses.

FRS radio have come way down in price, ive seen a pair of them as low as $9.99, maybe at wall mart, ebay usually has em cheap too.... and they really do enhance these games. I have a cheapo cobra that works great, i think i paid $2 for it at a yard sale or something.. one of these days ill get a headset for it..
years ago when i had my rec team together we went out and bought a couple sets of those kids walkies.. i think mine had spiderman on it.. they worked great, fun too :)
anyhow, the more of us on radio the better, you dont "need" one, but if you can get your hands on one for the event, itll be well worth the effort and help us coordinate our defence.. :)

rathbaster, comovartia and i had discussed this and to me it seems to be a gret idea the more we can communicate on the field the more we can stymie the attackers. frankly id like to see an all pump defense set a record for time castle the castle is held. it would be a beautiful thing :D

now that we're less than a month out, how about using FRS Channel 2 for a check-in? It can be used on Friday when everyone first arrives for general "I'm here", and "where are you?"s. On Saturday morning we can re-select one. so that the semi's and double-agents will have to guess what we're up to. B)

works for me.. Two it is, unless it turns out to be a field channel or something..im not sure if the "offical" field staff is on FRS ...

hey now im not going to be playing this year :( but what if the enemy is doing some spy work and checking out the plans? i know roll calll check in has nothing to do with the actual game commo but make sure to keep the plans secret, as in dont tell commo channels over the radio. i dno it was just a thought.

no worries there.. the "big plan" is so secret, there are very few people who know the full details. Compartmentalized security is the word of the day when it comes to that.. .. and dont ask me, im just as much in the dark as most everyone else :)
Good tip about the radio channel freq though, thats one that will only be passed on person to person.. :D

for talking on the cheap, Wal-Mart has radios from XAct Communications for around $15. They have the FRS and GMRS feq's with 2-mile range. No sub frequencies, but for that price, who cares?
