Title: Alcohol Free
THE-SHOOTIST - March 10, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
I'm planning to make it to PPII.
But, my last trip to EMR, I stayed in a Bunkhouse that was "wet". This time out I'd really like to stay in a sober house, and get to bed early. I'm planning on arriving Friday and leaving Monday.
Eight years sober and want's to stay that way. Maybe I'll hang a shingle for a meeting Saturday night.
Have coffee,(and sausage) will travel.
Anyone else interested in a sober house, or a sober house bunkmate?
amhildreth - March 10, 2005 11:30 PM (GMT)
If you needed a "dry" house, I don't think anyone in the SCP bunk would have too much of a problem with keeping the adult beverages outside. I usually do my partaking outside anyway - so everyone can see me stumbling around like a goof.

I actually considered suggesting two Marshals bunkhouses, one for the ongoing loud activities (wet or dry, they tend to be loud) and one for more sedate, quieter stuff..
As long as we're far enough up the hill from pub crawling there's no reason we shouldn't be able to accomodate our sober brethren.

Ironicaly, the members of Pub Crawling who attend Pump Pandemonium are the ones who only drink Gatorade, Mountain Dew and IBC Root Beer

Fat Pumper - March 11, 2005 05:39 AM (GMT)
SHOOTIST - I will be in attendance, along with 3-4 of my pump brethren from my area..None of us will be drinking (also under 21), so you are welcome to stay with us.
StrokerAce - March 11, 2005 06:44 AM (GMT)
We definitely did our fair share last year in the SCP bunkhouse, but yea, I'm with Andy, we can keep it outside if you wanna hang there with us. It's nice enough that time of year, we should be enjoying the beautiful weather anyways ;)

I'll probably be bringing tons of gatorade to share so you wont even have to think of it.
CrashSTP - March 11, 2005 08:43 AM (GMT)
well have all of the bunkhouses so setting aside a sober one or 2 is no problem. those that wish to partake can have theirs and those that dont no problem either.
Under my EMR hat I do appreciate all of the support for the Shootist and others who'll go unnamed who are in the program. that goes for all here - you people are what makes EMR great.
BTW be sure to try the Cafe Bustelo I have for coffee Shootist - only true coffee drinkers seem to handle it - newbies stare at the bunkhouse ceilings all nite after a regular cup
amhildreth - March 11, 2005 10:38 AM (GMT)
hmm..Cafe Bustelo sounds like something to try.
Finnigan - March 11, 2005 01:00 PM (GMT)
Cafe' Bustelo? I thought he said he wanted to get to bed early?
TrojanMan - March 11, 2005 03:13 PM (GMT)
I'm going to second (or third... whatever) the vote for props on Cafe Bustello. I've got a can at home right now and it's pretty much all I drink there. I run it through my espresso machine, no problem. It's really fine-ground so it handles both espresso and drip machines great! The only complaint I have is that it's, well, pre-ground...
I can hardly drink the coffee we have at my office... not that maxwell house is BAD, just... I'm spoiled. :D
Hmm, but now I'll have to bring my machine, a grinder and some fresh beans... more stuff to cram into the van!
CrashSTP - March 11, 2005 03:43 PM (GMT)
It's all I drink at home - good stuff. On the road everything from vending machine crap to coffeehouse stuff I'm a coffee addict. Has anyone here tried the Cafe Bustelo Supremo? it's on the website but never seen it in stores
Maverick - March 11, 2005 04:39 PM (GMT)
mmmm coffee.....i think anyone who sets up a mini coffee bar (and can make a decent cup O Joe) at the event would do pretty well :D
i think a dry house is a great idea, no one whos battled and won against the booze monster wants to be subjected to having to sleep in the same room as bunch of people exhaling booze exhaust fumes.. id imagine its sort of like a non/ex smoker having to spend time in a room full of smokers, im sure it can be uncomfortable.. and we have the ability and space to ensure no one has to deal with that..so lets work on it...
incynr8 - March 11, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
Ummm, the Carter Commando is no help in this endevour, but I will prevent Justin from chasing people down with Chimay bottles.
p8ntb0lr89 - March 11, 2005 09:49 PM (GMT)
hey, if i can go, i wont be drinkin(under 21), but ill have plenty of dew n gatorade, whick is fine for me
CrashSTP - March 11, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)
Wait till you see our new coffee vendor at the field Andy - GF gave me crap about it - she says most people would do with what was there or bring there own pot - I had to get a vendor..... :D

CrashSTP - March 12, 2005 05:18 AM (GMT)
If you see Bobby Dragon at EMR ask him about the " POD'o'COFFEE" I gave him at Shatner event..... he doesn't drink coffee......
Did laps in the airbooth all day, scared his help half to death, will never do my coffee again

Bring our own!? I think not - I'm mean, something like that would fine for commoners....*coffee snob mode*
monkeyman - March 14, 2005 03:12 AM (GMT)
Shootist, you dont need to drink to have fun, but you need to be able to deal with the fools who do.
CrashSTP - March 14, 2005 03:53 PM (GMT)
I've found a Taser and Visene works wonders -
