Title: Paintball Marshals
Description: Fall Castle

Pyrate Jim - May 26, 2003 03:34 PM (GMT)
Some may already know that Jim Masse of the Paintball Marshals will be the General for the defenders.
There are plans already being made about the game and other logistics like lodging etc...The Marshals bunkhouse will be ready before then and Jim already has definite ideas about strategy.

There will be a list of Marshals attending, but if you haven't yet registered then you'd best get on the stick 'cause the defense if filling up fast.

All pre-registered players will be entered into a raffle to win a gold-plated Shatner signature edition Action Markers Illusion.

Hope to see you there!
This Fall we won't fall!

amhildreth - May 30, 2003 06:22 PM (GMT)
don't worry, Pyrate. I've been pre-reg'd for a while. I can't wait to see what Jim and Hans have up their sleeves. :o

Pyrate Jim - May 30, 2003 10:20 PM (GMT)
Looking forward to playing with you again!

I won a 9-pod SlamPack from Warrior Sports Gear at the Twin Towers game last weekend. Using 140's that brings my total carrying capacity up to 2600 balls. I figure to hang them in the walls and folks grab it as they need it. (just leave me the pods!)

And I'll have the KP3 this week so I'll have lots of practice with it.

rathbaster - June 1, 2003 09:39 PM (GMT)
I'm registered, and waiting.

I'm looking forward to meeting and playing with all the people I know only as an identity on the internet. I've only been part of the pump/stock class community for three months now so have had little chance to meet any of you in person. All the pumpers I know personally are people I've brought into pump or the guy who turned me onto the idea. (I did meet Missy Masse years ago but that had nothing to do with paintball nor did I play at the time.)

A question:  how many people are doing Castle Conquest stock class? I expect the Marshals will be, but will others?

Pyrate Jim - June 2, 2003 10:04 PM (GMT)
This particular Marshal plans on using a hopper and a very large air tank.
It's gonna be a target rich environment, as they say and I don't want to run low at a critical moment. I already know where I want to be, but the General may assign me to other locations/missions.
But rest assured, there will be plenty of stockgunners there.

I've seen other Marshals with pneumatic assisted pumps that are nearly as fast as a semi..whether they use them at the game is another question.

Cargo - June 3, 2003 12:43 PM (GMT)
I'll be bringing both my VSC and DF Phantom, but will most likely stick with the 40rd/7oz DF for exactly that reason. "Target rich envrironment" oooo I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about it :D :P

Maverick - June 3, 2003 03:30 PM (GMT)
Ill be there with an assortment of pump "artillary" , in all likely hood the AM-P set up witha 7 oz and 15 round horizontal feed will be my main gun though... , ut depending on how things go, ill have a few other set ups ready to play if need be..from pistols for close quarters, to "sniperesc" set ups... ill be ready .. :D

swampthing - June 5, 2003 09:01 PM (GMT)
Pyrate, the Northern Michigan chapter members will be there. None of us have been there before, but we all 7 + year players. We are a small but growing chapter. As of now there are only six of us that could commit to the trip.

Rath: I know at least for a while, I will be playing stock as I am sure will most of the MI Marshals. Not to say I won't have the dreaded 4 oz tank in my pocket. Just for those times when it gets desperate.

Pyrate Jim - June 5, 2003 11:14 PM (GMT)
This'll be great! Missy gonna have to add a whole new page to the website when it's all said and done.
Looking forward to meeting all our Mid-West brethren.

Bridger - June 10, 2003 04:17 AM (GMT)
Yep, definately going with the 200 round revy on my sniper II for this one heh. I'll probably pick up a holster to have my PGP at my side as well though. And it's entirely possible that I will want to switch hoppers to a 45 round or stick feed to reduce my profile, but I suppose that will depend on my mood.

CrashSTP - June 11, 2003 11:41 PM (GMT)
a case of filled140rd guppies
a milkcrate of 20 oz'ers
5/4 RF harness
Sterling STP
AM-p Illusion or 2
007 nelspot
phantom sidearm
a dozen master mines.....
Yeah - I plan on throwing a bit of paint and being there awhile.
anyone got a golf cart?

Pyrate Jim - June 12, 2003 12:13 AM (GMT)
How 'bout a wheelbarrow? Converts to a bunker real quick.

Chauncy from Cooper-T had a golf cart at Twin Showers. Maybe he'd be willing to run supplies.

CrashSTP - June 12, 2003 06:59 AM (GMT)
haul supplies - I'm thinking rapid reaction team :D

rathbaster - June 12, 2003 12:57 PM (GMT)
Hmm, rapid reaction team. That sounds neat, kinda like the flying squad in Zulu. Plug the gaps and throw them back. Hehe, I'd love to get in on that. B)

Maverick - June 12, 2003 02:03 PM (GMT)
Golf cart?? ha, platform the back, mount a swivel chair, and two pa pump guns (one to each arm rest)with a common pumping linkage and trigger, and youve got a pump gun tank! bolt a few bike baskets to the sides for transporting supplies :) support it with a squad of specops and youve got a first reponse MI.. :D

amhildreth - June 12, 2003 04:03 PM (GMT)
for going REALLY old-school, how about placing a boiling-hot kettle of paintballs above the castle entrance? I've got a few more, but it's best if you PM me - I'm never sure when some semi-shooters might be slithering around. :D

Burphel - June 12, 2003 05:21 PM (GMT)
Hehe, I've got access to grenade paint if you bring the buckets and kite string, Andy :)
Oh, and if my f*%$@ng tempermental PA Phantom's working, I may be running with that. If not, I may just get pissed and play stock, albeit with a case of paint in 10rd tubes.

Oh, did I mention, add another Team PPIGer to the roster?

CrashSTP - June 13, 2003 12:54 AM (GMT)
Good to hear Burphel !
I believe English,Endymion, and a couple others are showing too, I just haven't talked to them directly.

Hans - June 13, 2003 06:13 AM (GMT)
I know of a couple folks bringing some serious hardware.....I can't wait to see "Radamanthus" being fired.
(Nasty PA Palmer Pump-Hurricane that somebody I know owns)

Myself, I had a couple cool ideas but I think I will keep with my 3.5oz SC fed Phantom. It's my best performer and for this game thats what I'll need.

Crash.....English and Endy are coming too? Its almost the full 2002 PPIG Roster showing up!!!!!!
I believe Nero is going to try, but not sure. Talk about a solid core for this defense roster.

-Hans

Pyrate Jim - June 13, 2003 09:44 PM (GMT)
I have just gotten my hands on a KP3 that will be my primary(and probably only) marker for Fall Castle.
It's a leg-wetting piece of work. Nickle-plated, barrel honed, valve work, bolt and quick-strip slot by Punisher. Accurate as anything else I own.

Just gotta have a sling on it, but that will be the aftermarket stock, not the original.

CrashSTP - June 14, 2003 05:07 AM (GMT)
Hans - yup it' going to be a regular reunion up on the ramparts - it's part of the reason I don't think a 20 min conquest is in the offering.

Pyrate - I'm doing a paintball version of this sling which doesn't require any mods to the existing stock - here's a link to one very simular to the ones I'm having made
http://www.thewilderness.com/Pages/slings_giles1.html
I've used them in the service and since and once you get used to the foibles they are the best you can get

rathbaster - June 17, 2003 06:33 PM (GMT)
Figured I'd put this here rather than start a new thread....

Reading the posts on equipment, the mention of kilts mad me wonder, are any of the pumpers also pipers? Bagpipes (particularly in a rain or mist) would really un-nerve the attackers :P . Or at least provide a soundtrack for our defense. B)

Any thoughts?

Finnigan - June 17, 2003 07:29 PM (GMT)
To conserve manpower, how about a good amp and a CD?

Burphel - June 17, 2003 10:33 PM (GMT)
I'm so tone deaf that if I did manage to learn bagpipes, I'd probably have the whole castle turn inside and shoot me. But yes, I think a cd of someone with the gift would suffice.

Be pretty darned cool to cue up Scotland the Brave for a rush out the front gates into Joint Fury Town by everyone with a kilt.
Celts in the hole!
Cover Fire!
*Bwaaaaa....*
*Much shooting, screaming, and pants wetting*

rathbaster - June 18, 2003 12:36 AM (GMT)
Oh god thats funny

I assume since the Celts got Kilts the pants wetting is by the semi storm troopers (poor expendable souls that they are). :P

Hans - June 18, 2003 03:40 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, depending if the gentleman is still with the Can-Con, they used to come to the LI Big Game with a set of Bagpipes and wearing a kilt.

Meph - June 21, 2003 03:14 PM (GMT)
Damn, just doesn't seem like it can get here any faster. I have all the other events I want to attend, but above all this one is most anticipated. Twin Towers is over, Quest is in less than 1 week! I still have to attend the IAO, SPPLAT/Shatner, and the Tippmann World Challenge is the weekend BEFORE fall castle.

Okay, this sucks. I'm going to have to get ahold of Polaroid and get them to sponsor me. I'm going to end up spending more money on film than paint this year.

10-shot kid - June 30, 2003 01:36 AM (GMT)
I walked the castle today at quest and noticed the back is the mopst vulnerable. I was thinking we could
A) Put the best guys back there, espicially by the ramp, to hold em down. They will keep it under controll and maybe even give us a pocket in that area if we have the resources to shift help.
B)Put a strong element of bad people back there :) We can spend them like fodder.
C)Put a line of our worst at the window slots and fill the side walls with the rest of the bad players. have 3-5 "commanders" or leaders to not fight but fill in people as the windows and key spots fall. That is the riskiest way to go about it but it will give added firepower in a larger area. It will also give us disburst rienforcements incase one side slips up. we may be able to make two side pockets and hamper their supply so much that the back pushes out. Then we'd only have to deal with the front. It takes far more cordination too.
D)switch it up and let the back fall so we can pin em in a cross fire inside then push em back again. We'd only be able to do this on the back left as giving the ramp up would be far to dangerous. More people on both sides would fall BUT we get quicker reincertion. We'd have to make sure there's was 10-15 minutes off when we let em in. I think this is a more defensive stance but will wear them down more. Also they will be more cautious and slow when they enter the castle for real so maybe we'll reincert quicker.

We do have a strong advantage inside the walls. Accuracy and low profile. In close quaters combat the first shot counts. In the nonmovie world armed forces use much more accuracy than shown. Unless they're marines :) Our low profile is from have no hopper (if your playing without one). Even my massive Kp2 gives them little to hit compared to a small electro.

I'm really really looking forward to this :)

rathbaster - July 1, 2003 05:03 AM (GMT)
I'm glad I'm on your side. :o  B) :)

10-shot kid - July 1, 2003 06:27 PM (GMT)
I used to play chess tournaments so I'm decent at the whole statagie thingy :)

Pyrate Jim - July 2, 2003 11:47 PM (GMT)
Our General has a few other tricks up his sleeve as well.
All I'll say is, I hope you're not color-blind.

rathbaster - July 4, 2003 12:16 PM (GMT)

I'll ask on Sunday.

pencil - July 16, 2003 04:19 PM (GMT)
Getting the sight put back on my maverick as we speak. Your right about the back side thing 10 shot because theres 3 enternces at the bottem of the hill. But from what I've seen we need to keep them outside if were going to hold. I've played every fall since castle X in the fall of 2000 havent made spring yet but maybe next year. The one time it held they kept us outside except for one push where we got in for maybe 5 or 10 mins before we were beaten out. The other times the key to shifting things to the attackers way was getting inside once they got in the castle fell within about an hour or so. Just one guys opinion maybe but I think the key is to keep them outside.
