Look (mike), I home folding baby clothes and just logged on. I will reply to 'that' thread in short order, but I don't understand why it is required of anyone to get so hot'n'bothered because of a 'bad case of' or 'lack of proper' communication.
If you want to hang at McB, that's your choice, but I can't see it has just 'leaving' SCP b/c of the bad mojo flying in OT. But, even if you do (and permantely), that's your choice and it does not detract nor benefit the SCP forum. I don't know how to explain it properly, but it's like, if people don't contribute (either through ideas, thoughts, or opinions), then nothing happens. Period. Nothing. If even thier contribution is wrong (either for or against the main thread) it still counts and will benefit the community. Only when people don't give, do things not happen.

Mike, I truly apologize if your expierence here has been such that you feel you must 'disown' SCP in order to feel peace. Really.

Go. Leave if you must. But don't treat SCP (or me and Maverick) in such a way as if we were instrumental in your being 'out gunned'. We all face incredible odds in some battles, and even in defeat, me must learn.

I don't know what else to say here. I'll try to regather myself for a big OT post. :wacko:

have not read the OT thread that seems to have caused this, i generally try to avoid political threads like the plague in general.

Regardless, it would be a shame to see you go your posts here in the general forum, on paintball have always been spot on in my opinion, and you are a valuable resource to the forum. I wouldn't let any thread, especially in the OT forum, be a reason to leave.

Political discussions tent to get hot and bothered even between good friends discussing it in person, why should it get any different online where communication is even harder? Would you disown your friend if you got into a political argument? Also, this forum is supposed to be about paintball, the OT forum is a small place to field the oddball topics, not the real meat of the board.

just my view, but don't leave outright, please?

not sure what exactly but a flame war started amongst mike and some other's. its none of my business and OT seems to have turned into the well lets say a no holds barred section of the site. lots of name calling and belittling, So I stay out of OT as much as possible. about the only times I look into there is when something spills out into open forum.

Maybe so, but I really see this as being equal to Al Sharpton, Barbra Streisand, and all the others saying they're going to leave the country because Bush won.

The aren't happy, they didn't get what they wanted, everyone isn't bowing down to kiss their asses and make everything all better their way, so they decide to try throwing a temper tantrum to get support.

I personally think that when we just say "Good riddance" he realizes that we aren't going to beg him to stay, he'll be back.

For those who will equate my replies to PBNation I will point out a difference. Although the language is in some cases the same, I didn't blast some kid because he asked about Tippmann's in his first post. I dressed down an out-of-control clown who was constantly berating members of SCP for their opinions and has been doing so for at least six months.

My last PM I got from said clown was entitled, "F%ck You Bigot." (I never PM'd the clown so any evidence that I am a bigot is on this site). And that was only the title. The rest of the PM would make a sailor blush. I made the moderators aware of what happened and I believe they took action because the clown started behaving himself, sort of. And to my credit, I stopped debating him and in fact ignored his posts completely for months to spare the SCP members my wrath on the clown.

Now I go back and see Rexx leave an opinion and then get raped for it and the clown has been doing the same thing in OT for months, seemingly without any barriers from the mods (no offense is intended to Mav or Cargo, I respect the fact that you guys tried to stay out of it). Sorry, that $hit don't fly and Rexx is a friend of mine and now I am pi$$ed.

I challenge any of you to take a look at the last exchange between Mike and I and see what I am talking about. Yes, I called him a pu$$y (again, no apologies). But take a look at his debating style. Make a point....someone counters intelligently....attack the challengers mental status and try to demean them...challenger gets pissed.....clown answers with completely irrelevent information....more members get pissed. It has been the same thing since the clown made his presence known in OT.

I am assuming the clown is using this thread for an attention getting ruse in order to try and shut his detractors down. It won't work. The clown has infected this site with vitriolic poison and has done so every day for the last year (1700+ posts??????) and I am sick of it and I am glad (and hoping) that he is gone for good.

Its a sad day when politics get in the way of paintball on a paintball forum.

I think mike has been really benifitial to the paintball part of this forum, but his actions in OT have been completely unnaceptible and have been for a while.

sucks to see ya go, and to think five minutes ago i didn't even know we HAD an OT forum. politics, religion, and abortion; i stay as far away from those topics as humanly possible. i come here to discuss pball, i am quite comfortable with my stance on govt. and the state of my soul. i don't wish people would stop expressing their beliefs, i just wish that everybody else didn't give a damn.

oh well, maybe just do the self imposed exile of the OT section.

I am friends with all of the above listed. ALL. And we manage to debate very peacefully, when we do at all. I love my friends, even my acquaintences, for all who I attract are good people.


What mike was saying in there, questioning undeniable military service on the basis of not seeing people because this is the internet and we are on a forum, as well as just being a... well, my father, and I, would say a smartass, what he was saying was absolutely unforgivable in the short timespan of a discussion like that.

I was going to suggest that Off-Topic be renamed "mikes personal heap abuse on other members forums" . . . I won't now since he has decided to leave.

Cargo - don't go crying about his departure. If this was a field and you were the ref, well, you didn't do your job. Yes, on the paintball side mike did have a lot to contribute. But when it came to politics all he could do was cause problems. As Helmet pointed out, one of mikes favorite tactics was to PM people with very insulting and derogatory posts. This was not isolated behavior on his part, it was standard. And when the de jure rules of the forum etiquette didn't get enforced the the de facto standard of letting mike act like a 3yr old took over. There was no contributing of ideas because 9 times out of 10 that resulted in mike flaming people.

Did he get 'out-gunned'? Most assuredly, but he is the one that chose to be deliberately antagonistic to multiple people over a long course of time.

Heh, for all his calling other people cowards he has really showed his true colors with his departure. He can't even take some heat on a message board . . .

I would really recommend letting this thread die. He's undoubtedly reading these responses still, and loving the fact that we're tying up so much attention in it. Screw it. Screw him. Get on with other things. Don't let him get more attention now that he's gone then he did when he was here.

After reading the thread, I think there's no real loss here.

My favorite is that Mike can't find the guts to admit how extremely wrong he was about Rexx. But if you cant face something, I guess running away is always an option...

If I remember correctly...who was throwing around the word coward the most...hmmm...must be a severe case of projection. (knew that psycology class I slept through in college would come in handy one day).

I don't want to be an antagonist, but after reading this thread I went and read the "crime scene" thread and found something I think Helmet should see for his own peace of mind (though Helmet seems comfortable with himself).

Mike posted this. I believe it was directed at Archer (maybe it was Murf?). The context was Hitler's Concentration camps to which Mike cited his (Grand?)Parent's ineterment in camps in the US during WWII. I can only assume he is of japaneese descent.
