Title: Pump/Semi
Description: guns that do both

Pump it up - July 25, 2003 04:06 PM (GMT)
What guns can be both pump and semi?

The easiest I've ever seen to convert is a typhoon, switches from one to the other in less that 30 seconds, and can be done without tools.

Behind that, the cocker, with removal of the front block and rods.

then there are those odd mag pumps, though I don't know if you can convert them back and forth easily.

I own a Trracer with the old PMI Cameleon Kits. You just have to take out 3 small bolts, take off the barrel cover, put on the pump, and screw in the pump screws. I takes 1-2 minutes, and works great.

Could you turn a spyder into a pump if ya tinkerd with it a little? (without pernament damage)

Pumpitup, yes, fairly easily. and true pump, not blow-back-hammer with a pump bolt. however, swapping back and forth is a littl more difficult.

Yeah, to make it into a semi again all you'd need is a different hammer (You have to modify one to use with a pump) and a new Valve Pin (You need to use a valve pin without and flats to let air into the bottom tube)

How could I do it? (I'm 12 do you think will be too hard?)

I think the Automag Switches over pretty fast.

If the spyder is the only gun you own pumpitup I would reccomend that you either accept the possibility that your only gun may be ruined and become in serious need of repair by doing this or I would reccomend that you get a mid range pump such as a Hornet or a Maverick.

And Mac as for the old PMI Chameleon kits, I have one on my Maverick right now and although you may be right about how easy it is to remove (I did it once under fire) I find that the Marker itself with the kit installed does not work very well and the trigger is very uncomfortable. Just preferences I guess.

I think the Automag Switches over pretty fast.

Remove the valve and take the "wave spring" out from behind the bolt and the Mag is semi again. YOu don't even need to remove the pump handle.

Blitzkrieg: I doubt that if he modifies the Spyder (Correctly) Anything will be ruined... All he would need at most is a new valve pin, hammer, bolt, and HPC/LPC.

Also, I had made a thread about the Cameleon Kit on the PHOG, and Punisher recommended replacing the 4way with a stock cocker one. I agree the trigger isnt great, so I just use it by pressing each button seperatly. It gives me more of a pump feeling, but allows me to get high rates of fire when i need it.

Pumpitup: Here's a quick rundown of what is required to modify the Spyder.

1) A pump, obviosly. You'll want to mount it where the LPC/HPC goes. You may want to have a shop custom make you a plug that will hold the pump, and make the pump for you while they're at it.

2) A way to have the hammer and bolt move seperately, without the hammer spinning out of allignment. This is where I have trouble coming up with stuff, but you may find a way.

3) Cocking rod and a way to mount it to the bolt

4) Patience

Good Luck.. I remember someone around. whether it be here, the PPIG or PHOG, so you should search around the gallery sections for it. That should help you out. It's a cool idea, but I recommend if you really want one to have an airsmith make it for you. Otherwise, as Blitz said, just buy an entry level pump. However, for the cost of having the spyder-pump made, you could buy a nice Phantom or Bushmaster.
