Title: NY Pump Gathering
Description: Possibly around end of November

Meph - October 4, 2004 12:29 AM (GMT)
Hey guys I'd like to get another pump game going here in New York. See what the demand is for here. Nothing major, find a field that we can either have to ourselves for the day or 'share' with 'THOSE people' (you all know who.... the Mole people!). A fun get-away for us all to have some paintballing fun, end of the day go get some dinner at a nice local resteraunt. Or a Denny's if that's all which is near-by. Why not, when all else fails there's always Denny's.

What do you guys say for this around the end of November like say Saturday, *edit* 13th. If we can get enough of us then well great, grand, wonderful. NO YELLING ON THE BUS! With many of us only a few hours drive tops to the Central NY region I'd think either Fury or Headrush would be first choices to look at.

But if you guys have any other fields in mind that you think would be suitable, or worth the trip, lay it on the table. I haven't contacted the field yet to set this in stone. But any field to chose from I'd suggest indoor for well.... winter conditions. A place where we don't have to slide in snow for 5 minutes of game, then next 15 minutes next to a propane heater.

oldskool - October 4, 2004 02:12 AM (GMT)
I would be down for that except that the 20th-21st would be better for me, I can't make it if its on the 27th. I live in the capital region but would be willing to drive east for a game provided mother nature cooperates.

Meph - October 4, 2004 05:04 PM (GMT)
Yeah actually around the 2nd weekend would be better. Seems that Thanksgiving is the 26th. Can't have a game the day after a holidy where people have already traveled far away to visit family. Wouldn't exactly be nice to do.

I'll see how November 13th looks at local fields. If they have anything currently planned. If not then I'll start getting ahold of them, see what we can have for the day guys.

Sheazer - October 6, 2004 04:00 AM (GMT)
Yup, that last week I'll most likely be in VA, so the weekend before would be best. Otherwise i'm very interessted.

EDIT: the second weekend of Nov would be the best, but it may be too soon.

Meph - October 12, 2004 10:48 PM (GMT)
Yeah, definately can't be what I originally thought of with the 27th way too close to ThanksGiving and just flat out bad idea. I'd like to give people a couple weekends of leeway so we can have fun but not spend money that might be necessary for traveling to family for that holiday.

Second Saturday of November looks like a good date. Won't be a pump-only field, we'll show up like regular walk-ons. Can play some of our own games, and if we want can mix in with regulars there. Plus I'd like to show up with all the regulars to spread the word of pump. Yay.

Though for "Player of the Day" I will have a prize from my collection of markers. And successfully owning noobs with DM4s or Empire Timmies does add points to the score!

oldskool - October 14, 2004 12:16 AM (GMT)
Where are we playing? As long as the weather doesn't get bad and present a travel hazard I'm down.

StrokerAce - October 14, 2004 07:10 PM (GMT)
Sounds like a plan. Count me in, and I'll talk to Six and see if he can make it too.

Meph - October 14, 2004 08:18 PM (GMT)
Don't know where yet. Been searching schedules of places and right now I don't think Headrush will be available on Saturday, 13th. They have a 5man league (unless you want to get a team together and join in that, :P )

Going to just have to call them and hopefully get people and not machines! Also sucks only having a cell phone. Use up minutes fast and my usual $40 bill turns into $65 fast.

Meph....
Mike from Headrush is usually online.....IM Him...... hell get back to you

amhildreth - October 18, 2004 12:29 PM (GMT)
It looks like I should be down for this one. As soon as we get solid info, I'll plug it onto the site calendar.

Target - October 18, 2004 07:51 PM (GMT)
Keep us posted.

Is the old "Fury" field still open since it was sold to "Play To Win"?

We had a blast at the last one.
8 people showed up, both male and female. A few were 1st time players to boot!

Finnigan - October 18, 2004 08:16 PM (GMT)
Can someone post links to the field sites so I can judge distance and travel time?

Meph - October 18, 2004 08:34 PM (GMT)
I'm going to give Headrush a call right now (at parents place visiting them and brother, they have a phone yaaay) as well as Fury. See what places could accomidate a group of players, not sure if these fields already have plans for the weekends.

If Headrush and Fury are both either busy, or not available, what other fields are in a central location to us all? I'm not worried about driving, I'd drive to Compete in Rochester or GRC in.... wherever, what have you. I can travel. But I don't want people who might be in albany have to go all the way to rochester (we're not exactly neighbors, but still close enough).

*edit*

Okay Headrush (http://www.Headrush.com) is open for regular walk-on play on the weekends (including our date) from 12pm-5pm. And that previous facility we were at last time, now Play To Win paintball (as mentioned above via Target thank you) still I get nothing but machine. But at least there's still an indoor field there.

But what I can gather from their website is that it's no longer an "all day" thing. Only a 3-hour session. Where if we get 6 to 9 people it's $30 per person. And no discount for bringing our own equipment, so I think we're getting charged a rental fee without renting!

I think I'll visit Mike at headrush and finalize it all there.

So for now guys plan on the event being at Headrush. Which is both good and bad. Good because it's new so probably clean, and plenty of space. Bad because well I have yet to be there to see the indoor facility and don't know what to expect. Might not be as soft to slide on as PTW's indoor place.

For that link again Fin... www.Headrush.com

I'm bringing my digicam again, some games I'll sit out and just be takin some pictures for us all. Get them up here on SCP again like last time.

Finnigan - October 18, 2004 09:14 PM (GMT)
WUFF! Syracuse is a bit of a haul for me. :(

Les - October 19, 2004 02:48 AM (GMT)
Finn.... Hop on a bus or a train to Utica and you can ride w/ me.
Les

Target - October 21, 2004 02:53 AM (GMT)
I won't be able to make the game.
I was asked to go to Las Vegas for 3 weeks (work related, Bass Pro Shops is opening a new store and I will oversee the setup of the boat service dept) from Nov1-21.

I will be there is spirit.

Sheazer - October 21, 2004 09:20 PM (GMT)
Sorry for my absence 'round the boards, I've lost internet as of late with no signs of getting it back. In any eevent, saturday the 13th sounds good to me, and I've yet to check the link by syracuse seems a fine ride for me. I just hope I can get off becuase I may take off for thanksgiving, and thats a big no no at my work (who loves restaurants open 365 days of the year eh?). Anyways, count me in because I'm planning as of now to be there.

Meph - October 21, 2004 09:45 PM (GMT)
If to bring anything I'd suggest gloves and maybe even kneepads. For anybody who wants to slide atleast. They have the indoor arena done, this weekend is the grand opening. And turf = bad for skin when motion is set into place. I know from experience the hard way! Doesn't feel very good.

But open play for us would be 12pm to 5pm, plenty of time for a few games and maybe afterwards hit a Fresnos or Denny's.

Sheazer - October 21, 2004 10:40 PM (GMT)
MMMMMM Denny's.

oldskool - October 22, 2004 04:16 AM (GMT)
November 13th it is. My schedule will be clear and provided mother nature cooperates I will be there. I will try to talk some of my team members to show up and use my pump guns. They all be semi totters so some training will be in order. Is this a private party or we gonna mix it up with all comers? I'll be heading over from Albany so if anyone is needing transportation, drop me a line. We should post this on the mcarterbrown site, may get a few more to show.

amhildreth - October 22, 2004 11:15 AM (GMT)
from what Meph was saying, it looks like it will be a mix of pump and semi for walk-on. That's good, because if we get tired and need a break, we can always scrimmage a few electro-toters!

Meph - October 22, 2004 04:26 PM (GMT)
Nope, not private. Unless we're the only ones who show up that day. But from 12-5pm it's open play all walkons.

Sheazer - October 22, 2004 08:49 PM (GMT)
I'm leaving from the Buffalo area, anyone need a lift let me know. Hmm mixin' up with electros? maybe I should bring my Viking... haha no way.

oldskool - October 24, 2004 12:36 PM (GMT)
This is kind of off topic but is there anything around Headrush that my family can do? Mall maybe? I broke the news to my other half and she is "protesting" the trip. I'm not familiar with the Syracuse area other than I can get there. Thanks.

Meph - October 24, 2004 05:11 PM (GMT)
Yeah. Carousel Mall. Just about largest mall in the North East! Drop her off, she'll be there 3 days.

It's on Hiawatha Blvd. From Headrush just get onto I-690 East and get off the Hiawatha exit. Turn Left and it's the giant building just past the bridge.

Target - October 24, 2004 07:16 PM (GMT)
Dont' forget the M.O.S.T. (Museam of Sience and Technology) downtown.
Cool place to visit.

Dan

oldskool - October 25, 2004 05:29 AM (GMT)
Outstanding, thanks for that info guys. :D

Sheazer - October 25, 2004 05:37 PM (GMT)
Okay, maybe I just didn't read the calender right, but I thought the Saturday near the 13th is in fact the 11th, not the 13th which is a Monday. I'm going to double check my calender, jsut thought i'd mention it.

Meph - October 25, 2004 10:22 PM (GMT)
Not sure, but the calander on the machine is saying 13th. Maybe it's 2 days off somehow?

Might as well check, better safe than sorry.

amhildreth - October 25, 2004 10:38 PM (GMT)
I went and 2X checked the entry I put in the site calendar, and it shows Sat, November 13 with the info. Is something amiss?

Sheazer - October 26, 2004 06:02 PM (GMT)
False alarm boys, I was looking on a calender where it had two months and looked at december by mistake. Sorry again, and thanks for not flat out saying I was a moron.

StrokerAce - October 28, 2004 08:27 PM (GMT)
Scored the day off from work, so I'll see you there. Six is still working on it.

--Brandon :)

amhildreth - October 29, 2004 11:56 AM (GMT)
Meph - with you doing the setup and being present at the field, would this one count as a Marshal's game? I've already got my 3 under my belt for this year, but was curious for other members.

Meph - November 1, 2004 12:59 AM (GMT)
Yes it would.

But overall not really anything to 'set up.' Just gotta show up. Not going to reserve anything, we'll be "normal" walk-on players.

amhildreth - November 1, 2004 11:06 AM (GMT)
excellent. I should have at least one....possible 2 other players comign out with me.

oldskool - November 1, 2004 11:57 AM (GMT)
I posted on mcarterbrown. Maybe some of them will show, I know at least 2 from around the Albany area.

amhildreth - November 3, 2004 10:32 PM (GMT)
Excellent - thanx for spreading the luv over at mcarter, oldskool. It looks like I will be bringing 1 solid extra player with me in the way of my buddy Jason. I am going to have to buy that boy a pump of his own, so that he stops mooching my Illusion every time we go out shooting.....

Sheazer - November 5, 2004 07:13 PM (GMT)
Might bring one or two non pumpers (barrowing mine of course) so seems like we might have a nice turnout!

Meph - November 8, 2004 06:52 PM (GMT)
Be nice to see a few of the Mcarter guys pop in too, those that can make it. I've sort of avoided a few forums temporarily so I don't get caught up spending too much time here.

But just again reminding. The indoor facility is turf, not cow-eating-grass type of a ground. So I do suggest gloves and knee pads, or even elbow pads if you have them.

And expect nothing but speedball on Super7 regulation style fields.

Sheazer - November 8, 2004 09:12 PM (GMT)
Any idea if they sell 10 rd tubes at the shop, becuase I need a few (or does any one have some they'd be willing to part with?). Geuss my KP2 is outta the question for speedball, although we'll see.
