that's the most messed up thing ever... Me and my girlfriend must try it :)
Maverick - July 14, 2003 12:44 AM (GMT)
that has got to the top my list of the perverted use use of paintball equipment i have seen to date, and i mean that on all levels... :vangry:
ratman411 - July 14, 2003 01:32 AM (GMT)
I second that.
Some people are just sick.
Pretty soon some girl is going to get hit in the eye, sue, and next thing you know you've got a smalltime "ban paintball" movement.
monkeyman - July 14, 2003 02:11 AM (GMT)
this is one of those things that give paintball a bad name. some sick rich fuc..... individual wants to indulge his twisted fantasies of hunting women down and shooting them and some person who has never played the game in his life is providing them with a venue. i consider this a black eye to the community of paintball. i already have seen news reports talking about how paintball is bad for children and this is just going to escalate these (as i feel erronious) reports. frankly george evathes is a leech on the ass of society. he is giving a bad name to the paintball society and to those that play paintball. people who are unfamiliar with this sport and read this article may begin to see us as perverted women haters or worse as dregs of society. when in all actuality we are the corner stone of society i have met people from all walks of life that play paintball, while they haven't all been good people i must say that the majority of them are honorable and decent people
sorry about the tyrade its things like this that have a tendency of annoying me

We are decaying nicely from the inside out... No wonder the rest of the world hates America, such filth could only be bred here.

Just plain Stupid.
Helmet - July 14, 2003 05:16 AM (GMT)
O.K., let's see a show of hands from all those who DIDN'T picture the girl they were hunting. :P
I am not in to causing women pain but hunting naked chicks sounds soooooo cool!!
Besides, what could be BETTER advertisement for paintball? A lot of people don't play because they are afraid it will hurt and now here are girls playing and takin' it on their bare foofies. We should use this.......
O.K., maybe I am just trying to be funny. :P
Chubbie - July 14, 2003 06:46 AM (GMT)
I'm in the wrong line of work! My wife said for 2500 bucks she'd run around naked and let people shoot her.
Seriously though that was just messed up. Who the hell pays 10grand to shoot a wal-mart paintgun at someone? That guy is raking it in!! Ya'd think he could spring for an angel or something cool but NOOOOO wal-mart special it is.
They could make it cooler though, put $100 bills on the baracades and the chick picks em up, the more she runs the more she makes. That'd be more sporting I think. Maybe give her a PGP or something to shoot back at the guy. I mean how exciting can it be to shoot some 200lb naked chick when she can't run nor shoot back? Gotta ad some danger to the mix.
Ok I'll stop rambling. Wonder what the guy says when one of the chicks looses an eye and she sue's him, the guy that shot her, the land owner, the Pball manufacturer, wal-mart etc. And would that count as a "paintball related injury"?

rathbaster - July 14, 2003 12:39 PM (GMT)
This story has made the rounds on nearly every paintball related forum I've been to. The reactions are similar if not the same to the ones here, but Punisher, posting over on Tinkers Tech Guild had an idea for hunting the hunters, now there's a use for a ball streaming semi-electro.......
Bored383 - July 14, 2003 01:01 PM (GMT)
easix6 . . . thats nothing compared to some of the weirdness from around the world
take the Japanese for example - they are really twisted.
I am not saying this in defence of those morons doing that hunting for bambi idiocy. Thats just pathetic . . . any man who would pay to do that is not deserving of being called a man.

Immoral, disgracefull, unethical, shameful, misguided, attrocious, distructive, corruptive, perversive, depraved, perverated.
At the least, they should be wearing GOGGLES.
At the most, they shouldn't be doing this at ALL.
I think the community/industry should be outraged at this and do everything possible to put a stop to this. Before some poor misguided pseudo-prostitute gets blinded by some sicko.

Yea, or just plain old f#cked up.
Well this doesn't appeal to me eitherl, but being a bit of a masochist for the amount of money I'd run around naked and let women shoot me.
But we should like, do something to make 'em use goggles. Isn't there some legal action we could take?
Neo - July 15, 2003 12:51 AM (GMT)
No, we can't take legal action since its Las Vegas. Heck, in a few years they'll probably be no law in Las Vegas. Anyway, this makes me sick. They should at least have goggles. Maybe we could spam the man that made it up. I would get his e-mail, but he took down the website. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
amhildreth - July 15, 2003 03:17 PM (GMT)
This is just wrong on so many levels, it boggles the mind. I'm half tempted to pop a flight to Nevada, and make that sewage-for-brains run naked around the course without any mask or goggles, while I take a few shots at him with the Illusion....although I can't promise I'll keep the hits BELOW the chest...
Finnigan - July 15, 2003 03:21 PM (GMT)
I can think of a great target below his chest.

hehe, this has shown up on EVERY paintball forum I've checked. I wouldn't be surprised if some clever PB-Computer Tinker had already made this guy's internet life difficult.

This just in FroM APG:
| QUOTE |
APG has received dozens of emails just today about the activity called "Hunting for Bambi" being conducted in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here is one company's official press release, received today.
Brass Eagle Inc. Responds to "Hunting for Bambi"
Bentonville, AR, July 15, 2003 – Brass Eagle Inc. (Nasdaq: XTRM) the worldwide leader in the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of paintball products issued this press release today in response to the "Hunting for Bambi" game concept taking place in Las Vegas, NV as outlined in a recent KLAS TV, Channel 8 Eyewitness News feature. This concept, which has just now come to the Company’s attention and is isolated to the Las Vegas area, involves shooting paintballs at women who are wearing only tennis shoes without proper protective gear and clothing.
"We condemn this irresponsible activity and do not endorse or condone the use of paintball products for such activities," said Company President & CEO, Lynn Scott.
Brass Eagle Inc. will ask local city and county officials in Las Vegas to look into this matter, as the health and welfare of the women participants could be damaged or threatened by this undertaking. The company and its distributors are especially concerned about:
1) Purposely shooting at persons who are not wearing a paintball mask, which could result in serious eye injury, including blindness.
2) Purposely shooting at persons not wearing clothing, which provides some protection from the impact of a paintball. Playing paintball nude may result in significant bodily injury.
Brass Eagle Inc. promotes the recreational sport of paintball, which is a safe and fun activity when the proper safety rules and regulations are followed.
ALWAYS WEAR A PAINTBALL MASK WHILE PLAYING PAINTBALL OR BEING SHOT AT WITH PAINTBALLS.
Brass Eagle is unique in providing a full line of paintball markers and accessory products from beginner through competition level. The Company is the dominant supplier of products for this rapidly growing sport. Brass Eagle Inc.was named one of the "Top 100" Hot Growth Companies by Business Week magazine in 1998, 1999 and 2001, and one of the IW Growing Companies 25, America’s Most Successful Small Manufacturers by Industry Week magazine. |
BE may no longer be what many think of as the ideal paintball equipment manufacturer, but the rapid response to this issue is impressive IMO... Two thumbs up to them, and for APG for turning up the heat a bit..
Comments?
Chubbie - July 16, 2003 01:09 AM (GMT)
I have no doubt they condem "Hunting for Bambi" it was a BE paintgun they were using. Who do ya suppose will be right up on the top of the defendant list when someone gets hurt and sues.....good ol BE. Just like when a plane that hasn't been maintained properly or is used by ill trained people falls from the sky...the manufacturer is always at the top of the "sue me" list.
Wonder if ya can get a cease and desist order against someone like that if you're not personally involved but know what they are doing is wrong?

lexiones - July 16, 2003 03:11 AM (GMT)
b.e. has no legal obligation to the end user in this case because the end user is not using the marker as the manual instructed. all b.e guns(well not the old ones) state something about proper eye protection. so the end user in this case is using the marker as was not the intention of the manufacturer. so what b.e. is doing is suprisingly honorable
Chubbie - July 16, 2003 03:40 AM (GMT)
That won't disway someone from sueing BE for "creating a dangerous product". If it weren't for stupid people doing stupid things there'd be alot fewer lawyers.

True that, but I've never questioned the chemistry in a match, so long as it burns. I hope the Plastic Phoenix which rose from the ashes of a Brass Pyre consumes this individual whole. In this day of constant "Big Corp vs. The Little Guy" for once we can happily side with the Corporation as they crucify someone... I hope.
