Title: How many guns do you own/use?
Description: Tell us about your collection
rathbaster - July 10, 2003 01:04 PM (GMT)
Since my closest friends own everwhere from 1 to 9 guns, I was curious what the general community at SCP has and uses.
I once subscribed to the philosphy of 1 gun, no more, not even loaners.
Now I susbscribe to the philosophy of 2 guns, one SC and one Semi. I cannot deny my semi toting roots, and the thing I've learned from others both here and on the field is that it really isn't about the gun, its the player behind it. B) :)
How many guns do you own? (and what type are they?)
How many of them do you use?
I own 3. I presently use 1.
My VSC Phantom is my gun, the extension of my right (and sometimes left) arm. She is what always comes with me. Right now She's all I use.
I bought an old autococker recently. It needs a lot of work. It will eventually have a 14" stock, a 7oz tank and a BE Pocket Hopper. I call it my "Limited Paint Semi". It will not see primary service but is in effect a "backup" for when I simply feel I'd like a semi in my hand.
I have a 98c. It was my first gun, I sold it, it came back, so now its my loaner. Tanklike with easy maintenance, good for my friends and family and I don't worry about it.
EDIT: (added 6/11) Now I have to think about getting the Marshal's Edition Illusion. Sigh, it never ends.
Bored383 - July 10, 2003 01:11 PM (GMT)
uh, like 30 . . . its a disease, an obsession. I've been trying to 1) get whatever oddballs from the past I think are neat, and 2) get the paintguns from 'back in the day' that I couldn't afford then
Most are pump / stock class . . . I have a few semis like my LX Minimag, a Palmer Stroker, a few VM's (gotta love those tanks) . . . they all get used from time to time
Dan the Man - July 10, 2003 01:43 PM (GMT)
I have 100 currently in my home with 40 more on the way.
Okay, so 90 of those have been sold and are just waiting shipment, but that's a heck of a pile of guns either way.
Sold:
25 sniper 2's
20 traccers/maverics
2 old nelspot direct feed, CA conversions
2 piranhas LB&AT
45 or so SL68-2's
Want to Sell:
2 Raptors
1 Tigershark
Have:
PGP
Sniper 2
3357
Use:
PPS Squall
PPS Houndstooth/SuperStocker Convertible
PPS Stroker
PPS PUG
I see a pattern...
Maverick - July 10, 2003 02:42 PM (GMT)
Id have to echo Bored's statement, just what he said, although now im down to about 15 guns or so.. but at one point not very long ago i had upwards of 40 of various species in my gun cabinet..
though now my collection is is definately focusing on pumps..there are still a couple of semis in there, that i rarely use.
pistols: 1 each, splatty, pgp, nelspot 007.
long guns: 1 each - line si skirmish si, cammo taso spartan, Proline Sterling, AM_P Illusion.
Semis: 3 vm-68's , 1 Sheridan Equalizer, 1 pt-extreme.
couple others i wont count, that i bought but dont consider mine for various reasons.. unibody phantom, pmi pirhana, and i think another vm 68 needing to be put together... along with allot of assorted gun related "cultch" in the parts bin...
Bridger - July 10, 2003 03:26 PM (GMT)
I have 12 plus 2 oddities, but I'm cutting down. The oddities I plan on selling ASAP.
I use mostly my sniper II, and my PGP, either old or new version. My girlfriend when she plays likes to use my new model PGP, so I wind up with my old one
I picked up an autococker last year for cheap, couldn't bring myself to take advantage of it's semi automatic fire, and so now it's a loaner sniper II :)
It seems us pump/stock players become more aware and interested in the history of the sport in general, since almost every pumper I know has more than one gun, and knows and wants one of the old ones.
so, the total in my possession are:
Sniper II x2
PGPx2
PGP2
Top Tube PG
PMI Piranha Long Barrel
PMI 68 Magnum
Vulcan
Traccer
Punisher Customs P-68SC convertible
Model 98
Of those, I plan on selling the model 98 and p-68, the PMI 68 Magnum is in pieces and I plan on selling it probably once I reassemble it.
One PGP needs a new cupseal/piercing pin for some reason, I haven't gotten the valve apart.
The PG leaks down the barrel so I imagine it too needs a new cupseal.
I think I'll get those taken care of eventually, though I'm toying with the idea of getting a few parts for the Piranha Long Barrel, and sending the non-functional PGP to Punisher for some very serious work.
I'd like to get them fixed up and running at least, but I barely use some of them and am kinda in a less paintball-oriented stage right now. Real guns suck up some money and time too B)

I'll echo a couple of these guys.
At last count, I think that I had 22. 19 of those are pumps and most of them see some sort of regular use. The ones that don't will be finding new homes soon.
Most of them are up over on the PHOG Gallery.
The Collection
Finnigan - July 10, 2003 03:34 PM (GMT)
I use my PGP and I just bought another as a redundency/loaner.
I have a Sheridan XTS as a loaner, a Beatle I plan on converting to SC, and a Spyder compact that is converted to SC, but not quite finished.
I had a Nova 700, but I couldn't stand to see it go unused so I sold it. I really liked that marker but I just couldn't afford to feed it and the beauty of it made me too tempted to play with it.
I miss it. -_-
Meph - July 10, 2003 05:12 PM (GMT)
How many? Currently I'm around the 20 mark. But it's growing. I'm very very tempted to add 6 Armotech Zeuses to that list and go playing paintball... Neo style! But I need at least 1 zeus, they're fun. And an Action Markers Illusion, have to get
THIS one.
But I just like variety. Some people collect stamps, others cars, others cheese. For what ever reason, be it to later wait for value and sell to make $. Or to show their status in society as a rich bastard. I just collect because I like to use them. I might have a new A5, mag, and cocker. But I still use a Grey Ghost, PGP, and Splatmaster!
lexiones - July 10, 2003 05:16 PM (GMT)
well i thiunk i have around 6 but can never resist a new project gun.

THE-SHOOTIST - July 11, 2003 02:42 AM (GMT)
I have thirty. Mostly old pumps, and true collectors items. What I play with is:
Urban Phantom-VSC and D/F bodies.
Sniper III- an oldie. Serial 854.
Proline Sterling-Not in my favorite color (red), but one of the best shooters I own.
Sheridan KP-2. All-time favorite for informal stock games. If it's serious I'll use the Phantom.
PGP-Another oldie, but I did tons of work to it, it's sweet.
ICD Desert Fox-used infrequently, maybe three outings a season, but a great semi.
The other 24 are carefully stored in the vault.
Phantom Power - July 11, 2003 02:50 AM (GMT)
Five. Kind of.
1. The VSC Phantom (this is locked at #1)
2. A Nelspot 007 in a state of restoration. Not really mine right now, but will be at some point.
3 & 4. Some PMI Trracer's I have for loaner guns.
5. A '94 Autococker. Project gun.
Helmet - July 11, 2003 03:01 AM (GMT)
This is where I break from most of the old school pump guys. I don't know why but I have never been a collector. Even in the old days. I had three guns once. I sold them all after I bought my Line SI Bushmaster. I knew I had found my baby. I only play about once a month so I don't like to switch guns around. I like to know the equipment as well as possible and spend as much time with that equipment as possible.
The only gun I use now is my Phantom VSC.
I also own two P68's and one PGP that I keep for loaners.
bacci paintball - July 11, 2003 03:19 AM (GMT)
Um...wow... i thought most of you had over 100, or at least over 50?
I guess not, as for me i have around..., to many,
Mostly i use a line si bushmaster or my semi sovereign, but here are a few of my others:
Nelspot
More bushmaster...
sweeny gun
puma
sniper 2
mercenary
can't remeber the others...
Shootist, what is in your vault!
-Bacci Paintball
THE-SHOOTIST - July 11, 2003 04:02 AM (GMT)
2 Pumas, a "Wildcat" and a shorty, both new and unfired, in the box with papers.
A NGS Savage,a bit used, but still a fine gun. Given to me by the owner of National Gun Sports like a week before he passed away.
Early Mag, back-bottle set up. Hates CO2, like all Mags. Used like ten times.
Early Cocker. I hate this gun, never worked right, bought it on a whim.
PMI-III.
Prolite.
Eagle 68
3 Nelspots.
4 007's
First run Bushmaster SI (Daisy handle)
First run Phantom (Crosman handle)
1990 Phantom Express
1990 Phantom Shadow by "Tech-na-Ball" in Manassas VA
Para-Ordinance Model 85
PMI-I
PMI-I converted to D/F
Rebel 90 from Canada
Sniper II
others, but I'd have to look.
Chubbie - July 11, 2003 06:43 AM (GMT)
I now have:
4-Autocockers (atleast one soon to become a sniper-2 SC conversion)
3-Tippmann .68 Specials
2-Tippmann SL-68 II's
1-Tippmann SL-68
2-P-68SC's (1 probly going to become a stroker soon, I love those things)
1-PMI-1 (it's SCREWED, but it's in the box)
1-Automag (all in pieces but its in there)
I'm just glad this wasn't the "All the markers you've EVER had" list that would be a really long post :P

Tyger - July 11, 2003 07:55 AM (GMT)
I think I'm at 16 or so. I think. And there's a lot of guns I have, never use. I'll have ot sell them someday, but I'll hate myself for doing it.
It's not the guns, it's the GEAR! I've got 4 ICS vests, I think, a dozen or so harnesses, Camos, cleats, and don't ask about my pod collection.... ALL stickered up, and no place to go.
-Tyger
juxstapo - July 11, 2003 09:32 AM (GMT)
Hurm.... trimming it down to what I use, one PGP.
easix6 - July 11, 2003 10:52 AM (GMT)
After simplifying... just one gun. Yep, I sold em all off and just use my trusty Phantom VSC now. Although I must admit...I am sorely tempted to purchase a Cocker from a guy I know, remove the pneumatics and turn it into a pump... :D

Ohhhh, ICS VESTS!!! I gotta get me one of those!!!
For those who dont know, Idema Combat Systems products were the BEST soft gear ever produced for paintball, period! Ive still got my ICS three pod pouch, and besides the paint stains, its still pretty much perfect after all these years... But now i use it for water bottles instead of paint pods, but its still used none the less.. at least in big games and scenarios anyhow... B)
Bored383 - July 11, 2003 05:20 PM (GMT)
too bad that Keith Idema turned out to be a crook and a snook
comovartia - July 11, 2003 05:33 PM (GMT)
Tippman 98c
Line SI Bushmaster
VSC Phantom
Hopefully someday a kp2 or kp3
joebob - July 15, 2003 12:07 AM (GMT)
I feel poor with just my VSC phantom.
p8ntguykenny - July 15, 2003 04:32 AM (GMT)
My Sniper 2 is all I need. Plus I'm poor so I can't really afford more than one... and all ym friends are jypos so I really don't want them tagging along eating up all my paint.
amhildreth - July 15, 2003 03:02 PM (GMT)
after adding to the gallery for 17 years, I wound up with:

Schmitti - July 16, 2003 01:22 PM (GMT)
Hmm what do I have right now...
My green phantom which I can set up as a bottomline uber pump with 14" barrel and anti siphon 12oz tank, or as a retro tourney pump with 15rd stick feed and inline drop out cartridge with 8" barrel. I also have a stock feed body I can use.
Then I have my MAC-1 Annihilator which I've only shot in the basement. It has a tank ring and I've setup the plumbing with a Sheridan RG-1 reg on the 10oz tank.
I have a newly aquired VM-68, the new version which is all black, it has a vts installed but I have to replumb the exp. chamber since I've removed the RG-1. I'd like to eventually like to send it off to Pun to have it worked over and probably converted to a Lazurus (sp?) but with a few special touches and of course his trademarked Kitten Lick'n.
I also have a PMI-1DF that BigMatt is giving a serious work over to. I got the gun from Punisher and he cut a drop slot in the left side of the body. I then added a MAC-1 MacQuick cartridge changer (makes changes supper fast... slide the collar on the MacQuick, flick the gun to the side, drop in a new 12 gr and push the MacQuick's button until it clicks) BigMatt is fitting the gun out so that it will now sit in a KP stock with the an original KP lower tube plug which has been drilled and tapped for his velocity adjuster. It's also getting some plating and when he decides that he's petted, hugged and stared at it long enough he'll grudgingly send it back. Then I'll sand the stock to prep it for a couple of coats of green Minwax. (green is my favorite color)
I also have two piranha sb's that I'm in the process of restoring, one of which is going to my best bud as a wedding present and the other which will be a back up pump or my wifes if she wants it.
Guns I've owned:
1 Traccer pump (sold)
1 Maverick Pump (stolen)
1 pgp (back in 93-94.. not the PGP that I had converted to my Annihilator.. it got loaned to a friend for a summer and when it came back it was trashed)
1 Piranha G-1 semi (sold)
1 Piranha G-2 semi (sold)
1 BE Nightmare LB comp (I didn't have time to play with getting it to work so I sold it)
1 VM ano'd red by Gabriel Tyler (sold)
1 Piranha LB chopped short and plated by Gabriel Tyler (sold)
1 VM-68 old style silver and black (sold to fund my PMI-1DF project)
I think that's it.
I mostly use my phantom but when I play again all of my guns will hit the field and get used.
Later!

Blitzkrieg - July 16, 2003 10:40 PM (GMT)
Right now, ive got 2 pumps and one semi. Ive got my cherished VSC Phantom with the folding stock and 4 oz tank, Ive got a modded out zap zxs 800 (at least i think thats what its called) I sawed off the plastic barrel and inserted a nice metal one and i gave it a foregrip on the pump arm for coolness. I dont use this i just like to modify it. and last but not least is my "autococker" which is actually just an ACI maverick with a custom fitted PMI cocker conversion kit which I installed today and to my surprise It somehow came perfectly timesd. :)
Oldest Sage - July 19, 2003 12:21 AM (GMT)
 Let's see...after much wringing of hands and night sweats I've got 2 Phantoms (Micro & Integrated valve) as primary and secondary, Classic Mag (Lvl 10) as a backup and my LP Classic Spyder if all else fails. I almost never play with the last 2. :D
808jackal - July 19, 2003 07:00 AM (GMT)
Currently three phantoms:
1- Gunmetal Grey/Pewter SC w/ Aimpoint 2000 Competition red dot sight, Custom milled aluminum pump handle and 14 in. Boomy.
2- Tigerstripe Red ex-VSC w/ Armson Heavy duty OEG sight and Lapco Auto Spirit.
3- Punishers Customs Signature Series Custom SC w/ Ghost ring, Undercocking, pressure gauged, bobbed valved mean machine. Custom ported barrel.
all three are set up Hawaiian style. Reversed Bottomline setup.
4. PMI-I DF trusty rusty, but broken valve.. Gotta get someone to make it into a SC super beast..
Chubbie - July 19, 2003 03:55 PM (GMT)
Ya have pics of your phantoms 808jackal? Those sound cool :)

sniper1rfa - July 22, 2003 04:10 PM (GMT)
well, i suppose i am doing pretty well...
i currently own six guns, four of which work right now, one of which just needs an o-ring. then there is the raptor, which i might actually get around to fixing at some point... :P
i own...
oldschool hopper phantom which i updated to new specs
a PGI mayhem which really is no longer a mayhem, but it shoots good just the same
an LX mag which i plugged so i could get rid of the reg half
a point zero model-83 which i converted to pump (and is the reason i bought the phantom from rathbaster)
an old style f-4 illustrator, also updated to new style specs
an old green raptor which has too many mods to list.
I will be finishing "the proto" fairly soon, which is a gun of my design (electro, currently, and smaller and lighter than a ULE mag. This is my pride and joy right now. I might make a pump version some time. and maybe a manual one. maybe one with a y-grip....
I mostly use my phantom and my mag.
Mr.Grimm - July 23, 2003 06:46 AM (GMT)
WOW, i thought i was a gun whore at 13 or 14 in the last year and a half, but i'm a lightweight compared to you guys. the most i'v kept in my posession at one time was 5, i try to keep it down to 2 or 3. i almost always use my mildly custom phantom vsc. until today i had a vert feed phantom as my backup/loaner, but i just sold it. i think in all likelyness i'm gonna pick up an illusion pretty soon and possibly send it to paintballmaxx for a SHO conversion. then it can be my "semi" (i think thats as close as i'm likely to get for quite some while)
Gazoo - July 23, 2003 01:03 PM (GMT)
2, A new style PGP and a coverted STO into a sniper. May be putting in a slider bolt from General Joes into the PGP2, supposed to fix the ball breaks. Also, may be parting with the STO/sniper, as my oldest son is drooling for it. If the bolt works on the PGP2, may just do it. I like the PGP2 as it is small and light. My wife likes it to as it costs me next to nothing to play.
buck satan - July 23, 2003 06:03 PM (GMT)
Nelspot 007
SL 68
Razorback III
Phantom VSC
PGP2k
Viper M1
PVi Shocker
SP Shocker (Turbo)
Impulse
Centerfeed Cocker (2)
Right feed Cocker
That's it..... For now. I pretty much only use the Nelspot, Phantom, Impulse, and CF cockers.
-Dennis
ratman411 - July 23, 2003 10:35 PM (GMT)
1 PGP2K - use it, brand new, no mods, works good.
1 Tippmann Pro/Carbine. - use it not so much anymore (semis eat paint too much and hoppers suck)
Murf425 - July 23, 2003 11:37 PM (GMT)
I am definitley the poorest (or cheapest) bastard here. All I have now (that's functional) is my Tigershark and my PGP. I have a Rapide that is chronoing at 196 (not good) and a Stingray that I have worn slam out after many years of rough play.
Over all, I started with my Ray, bought a SL-68, sold it, bought a Zeus, sold it, bought my Tigershark and PGP, and eventually I want to get a Phantom (one day when I'm out of college).
Cronos - July 24, 2003 12:10 AM (GMT)
I currently own 4 paintball markers. I have my vsc phantom which i use as my main gun, i have a 2k3 sniper II that i use as a cocker when i feel like playing semi(i working on a deal to trade this for a nice kp2) i have my pgp and last but not least i have my AFT :D
