Title: OK, so have we even come close to a decision?
swampthing - March 4, 2008 04:19 AM (GMT)
Well, after rereading the two threads (PPV semi pistols, and What Would you do for next years PP) I was wondering if anyone has actually made any decisions or are the Powers That Be just resting on their laurels? Now is the time for action if you want to make changes to the overall rules of the game, such as to what is allowed and what is not. People need to know these things before the morning of the game.
Is the game going to go on as last year with a Big Game format? Is it switching up to a "themed" game, going "scenario lite"?
Is it gonna be lefty vs :ph43r: ?
Will 10 Shot Kid show up?
Will he be able to use his Pistol? :bang:
Will there be Friday Games?
Come on people, the suspense is killing me!!! :D (Sounds like the plot to a bad Soap opera)
Seriously though, those of us out here in the frozen wastes need some info.

in a nut shell
friday games, yes if there is enough people
semis, NO. Its pump pandemonium not pump and pistol pandemonium, if you want pump and pistols go to one of freedoms games.
Iv'e made the decision of a light theme. Army of darkness still working it out
capture the flag as usual, and a few theme based points like hold structures or find the necronomicon or the boomstick. more on it later.
I'm running the game completely as apposed to last year when everything was thrown at me last minuet. I'm not going to be playing Saturday to make sure everything gets run smoothly.
crazyorigin - March 4, 2008 06:43 PM (GMT)
last years format seemed to be a good overall format, just need's a little tweaking. As with any good event, they should just get better and better evrey time.
Noodles - March 4, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
Army of Darkness "lite" seems like a good theme that won't go overboard for the capture the flag purists, yet set this Pump Pandemonium apart from last year's.
swampthing - March 4, 2008 11:02 PM (GMT)
Nice to see we got something down on paper, so to speak.
Brimmy; what qualifies as "enough people" for the Friday games? There are usually four or five of us that get there Thursday night.
OK Scenario Lite it is.
BTW, has there been a decision on the Electro hoppers or not? I am against them, just as a side note, but then I am against hoppers in general.
Brimstone - March 5, 2008 12:42 AM (GMT)
no restriction as long as it is manually cocked. w/o pneumatics
sorry its also not elitist pandemonium ither.
however i will have stock class only games on sunday
papaintballer - March 5, 2008 04:06 AM (GMT)
your killin me brim... i like the centerfeed :P which kinda sux, bc i just bought another centerfeed phantom. and now with 2 snipers.. their both open class to.
Brimstone - March 5, 2008 04:37 AM (GMT)
how am i killing you? you can have more than one group of games going at once.
swampthing - March 5, 2008 03:17 PM (GMT)
Sorry Brimmy, you misunderstand me. I was not trying to be elitist, I just prefer SC to Open class pump, even though I do have a couple of OC pumps. SC games on Sunday huh? Cool. Still no answer as to how many is "enough" for Friday games.
As a thought, once you get all the rules pertaining to what is and isn't allowed at the game for equipment, you might post it here for all to see. That way everyone knows what they are in for.
And make sure you have enough player packets for all who show up, including the general rules for the game and the specifics for the theme. Make sure they are perfectly clear and as near to idiot proof as possible. And pass them out at registration so that those who arrive early have plenty of time to grasp the theme.
When we pre-register for the game are we to register as "Living" or "Undead"? :D
Are there going to be extra refs on the field to help curb some of the complaints from last year, such as eliminated players not leaving the field? I saw none of this, but it has been brought up in the other threads.
Lefthanded04 - March 5, 2008 09:44 PM (GMT)
Sounds fun i need to make this.

Brimstone - March 5, 2008 11:51 PM (GMT)
Yea ill have he rules laid out when I get them all ironed out.
10 is the minimum needed for games on Friday.
Ill have the player packets ready for the game, and ill try to get s many refs as i can.
papaintballer - March 6, 2008 03:05 AM (GMT)
just bustin on ya. When last year i showed up with my Cf body. and your like GO back and put that SC feed on right now! can i just be a spoiler again... :P
swampthing - March 6, 2008 03:11 AM (GMT)
Thanks Brimmy. 10 is actually pretty easy on Friday. Last year we had 10 by around 11 o'clock, but the refs said we couldn't play due tothe fact that there weren't enough rfs to do everything they had to do and tend to us. I vote for palyer refs for the Friday games. They let us do that the year before and it worked out well.
As for the rules and the refs, I ain't bustin' your chops, just dropping reminders. I know how rough it is for me even just to run my field somedays. Been doing it for 7 years now and I still forget things once in a while.
Brimstone - March 6, 2008 02:02 PM (GMT)
yea i know, i hope i'm not coming off with an attitude, not trying to make it look that way.
need some feedback btw.
Top fields done right lots of water, proper dead zones, and insertion times, or stay down at the bottom fields?
swampthing - March 6, 2008 03:23 PM (GMT)
OK, by "top fields" I assume you mean Castle, Tippmann town, Firebase, fort Blues Crew, Hanse's Hollow. Basically the same field we used for the debacle that was PPII.
"Lower fields" being then the same fields we have used the last two years( Bonehead, Numbskull, Fort Worr, Sgt. Splatters).
From what I have seen and can remember, the top fields would need a lot of work to get in playable shape. There is a serious lack of bunkers up there. At that point you have to ask where is the material coming from and who is going to do the work. Trust me on this one, you don't want to have to be the guy that does it all. You have no life at that point and everything is a series of Friday deadlines. The up side to doing it all yourself is that it always comes out the way you want it. The downside is that if it sucks, you have no one to blame but yourself.
I would say use the fields we used for the first PP with some work on the base at the Airfield would be a good setup. Of course, that also depends on the number of players you anticipate.
OR
The fields we have been using are also good, but could use some work as well. More structures by the Mine Shaft between Fort Worr & Sgt Splatters as well as out in Splatters. Plus some general clean up of that small area. Modify the inner boundary by cutting two thirds of the speedball field out, thus making contact more likely but still leaving a route around the south side of the fort.
And no matter what fields we use, make sure the tape lines are clearly marked with an unbroken line. Had a couple of issues last year with that silliness. Nothing big, but slightly annoying to the other players.
I see no attitude, just some stress coming through. But wait, there's more coming.

Bottom fields are better, IMO. More cover and more shade. Less "up" for those of us old enough remember the 1970's.
Insertion times were fine.
Dead zones should not be right next to flag stations.
More than two flags spreads the fighting around a bit, and may help keep the game close.

I think it's no secret that using the top fields will result in a lot of people dropping out of the game after 3-4 hours.
I would LOVE to play the top fields but I don't want to wander around aimlessly for 3 hours looking for someone to shoot at, either.

i agree. although id love to play on voodoo firebase just bc imo its the best field there just nobody likes that 80+ deg. slope to climb for 10 minutes :P
I dont see why tippmann town cant be in play though... Possibly 4 or 6 bases? town being 1, margaritaville being 2, fort 3, boneheads 4, sgt splatters 5, and speedball 6?
Id say look at the fields, and see how each can be incorporated into the theme.
As for friday if i have off for that day, ill come thursday night maybe or early friday morning. As a former ref, i think they'd let me ref, if theres a group ready to play. They call me to assist when they dont have enough refs for private groups.

That shape would lead to a bottleneck on Margaritaville. Tippman Town would not see much play unless it was a reinsertion point, and one team was forced back on it. We see the same thing at the Long Island Big Game every May. The "Dodge City" base does not see much play time compared to the others, as it is cut off by two others.
Otherwise, the bottom four fields as bases is a good idea, IMO.
papaintballer - March 7, 2008 09:27 PM (GMT)
it would even it out if EMR had 2 huge arse hills :P to bad there wasnt a big hill behind fort. haha
then both teams would get stuck with a hill to try and get up.

Hi guys,
PPV is sounding very cool.
Brimstone: If you need any help with the theme (props, etc.), let me know. I can help.
For the stock class game on Sunday, would a lever action qualify as stock class?
Scott
EDIT: So will MCB or SCP be the Deadites? And will there be special characters (ie. Ash, Evil Ash, Duke Henry, etc.)?
Meph - April 4, 2008 08:03 PM (GMT)
MOCA - April 4, 2008 08:15 PM (GMT)
So, do you have to sign up to be the Deadites on the registration form or is it sorted out there.
