Title: Tube Idea for Castle..
Burphel - July 4, 2003 06:25 AM (GMT)
How many of you folks that are planning on using tube-fed systems would be interested in pooling 10rd tubes for the game. The idea being that anyone shooting a stocker can drop their tubes into a big box along with buying paint and some new tubes as a group. The tubes would then be filled pre-game and stay available near the insertion point for players to reload harnesses while waiting to go live. On the flip side, garbage bags would be hung up every few yards along the castle walls for empties (not a bad idea for 12g's even if this doesn't fly). After the game, the surviving tubes would be re-distributed according to the percentage that you donated.
The idea being that you don't have to worry about running out of personal tubes and then having to refill them during the game. You also don't have to carry your empties around until you can get back to your personal 'stash point.' The concept comes from my scenario team's practice of podding up several cases and keeping them in a locker onfield for any teammate to reload rather than just fending for ourselves. I may not be explaining this very clearly, but it saves a great deal of headaches and off-field time (something I see as a potential killer in a castle defense).
This is still a mental exercise in progress, but please let me know if you're interested, or have ideas to make it work smoothly. I need to know if enough people are interested for me to do more deep thought into the logistics, or if I should just buy myself some extra tubes and worry about myself alone.

Lemme call Paintball Dave's on Monday or Saturday. I'll see about getting bulk tubes.

lexiones - July 4, 2003 06:51 AM (GMT)
id have no problem w/ doing that
rathbaster - July 4, 2003 12:09 PM (GMT)
Count me in.
Even if this doesn't fly lets put up bags for the 12 grams. Cylindrical hard things are bad for clumsy guys like me. (After all, if you can move a pyramid block with rollers, imagine how far I'd go. :o  )
Crazy_Chiken - July 5, 2003 04:06 PM (GMT)
at the very least this will be nice for keeping the tubes and for keeping things people can trip on off the walls so I think that it is a good idea
Tyger - July 7, 2003 10:32 PM (GMT)
Ok, just got off hte phone. I called 888-paintball, and I have 300 tubes coming to my door. The things I'll do for you people.
Once I get 'em, they're public domian for CC 16. I am not expecting to come hoime with ANY of them. Chuck 'em, keep 'em, heck we can play old school and pile 'em up at the 'good' bunkers! No matter what, I've got 300 10 round tubes, and they're gonna be free to any and all who need 'em.
Don't worry 'bout me. I'll be the cover man at CC 16.
The guy ont he phone sounded really worried actually. "You know these only hold 10 balls each, right?"
So, yeah, there you are. Burphel, consider your idea implementd to an extent. If we need more than 300, we're hosing.

Wow.
I've an old photo of a ten-round tube filler. I plan to duplicate one for the game.
But I plan to use a hopper, I won a 9pod slam pack that'll carry 1260 at the Twin Towers game and I can carry ten more 100rnd tubes. I figure to hang over a case on the wall, if ya need it-take it, but leave me the pods.
I was out playing this weekend with our General for CC16 and he has LOTS of ideas for the game that've never been done. -_-
Some of these fall into the category of "Easier to beg forgiveness than beg permission"
Minefields are a part of that, remote activated mines within the walls are another. Mirrors may play a part as well.
I warned him that he'll have to communicate a LOT on information in a very short time to the players, but He's been in contact with a few leutenants who will have a good idea of where they need to lead troops as we go.
Anyone who can verify their position as Defender can contact Him at the Marshals hosted forum by visiting the Marshals website and clicking the link.

We should probably have a few 12 gram dumping stations too, since EMR uses lawn mowers in most of these areas, and it's not good for chunks of metal to be lying around.
lexiones - July 8, 2003 04:53 AM (GMT)
i may play w/ my sc phantom for a while but if that doesnt work to well its time for the P.A. maverick to come out
Maverick - July 8, 2003 04:48 PM (GMT)
ill have a few boxes of trash bags over at the SCP HQ just for policing up spent 12g and tubes during and after the event to keep it safe... I also figured quite a few players would volunteer to help out afterwards, so we can do a grid search for trash and ensure we leave the place clean.
As for the tube combine, Id suggest anyone who is planning on going home with their tubes , mark them in some way so if they get mixed up they can be identified and returned... that goes for pods and hoppers as well, just in case..
Though i dont think it will be an issue, Im getting a few pond tossers together, just in case .. whats a pond tosser you ask?? Thats the group of guys who toss anyone who intentionally cheats, steals, ect.. Into the pond.... Id prefer a flogging crew, or firing squad.. but pond tossing will do and theres no law against it unless they drown... which of course we wont let happen.. humiliation is a wonderfull tool sometimes though.. I hope the Attackers will envoke their own enforcement squad as well... :D
Burphel - July 8, 2003 08:33 PM (GMT)
Actually, Mav, the whole point of the tube combine is to not need to mark your tubes. Unless you've got some particularly nice ones like speedcaps or the old black ones, a tube is a tube is a tube, so why bother worrying about what's yours if you trust your fellow players enough to give you your fair share back. And I personally trust every pumper I've ever met enough or I wouldn't even consider running this scheme. Hell, with Tyger's donation, there's a good chance you'll go home with more than you brought.
As an addendum, please don't stick speedcaps, black tubes, or anything else of special significance into the pool, it'd be too hard to keep track.
Also, please drop me an e-mail if you want in, along with how many tubes you have to include and how much you figure on shooting. I need to know what I'm looking at in terms of supply and demand.

rathbaster - July 10, 2003 01:40 AM (GMT)
I've got 65 tubes to add in at the moment. No idea how much i'll shoot at this point. My record for a 20 minute fort defense is 70, so I'd guess it'll depend on where I'm deployed, who with and how much action we see. B) :) :pow:
Oh Mav,if you're looking for some big guys to help in pond tossing, I'll volunteer. Won't brook no cheating or other dishonorable behavior in my line of sight. :(
(Would our guys actually do something like that   )
10-shot kid - July 10, 2003 06:21 AM (GMT)
the only bad thing I could think of about pound tossers is someone accusing someone of something without knowing all the facts. IE: just previously a certain SC player blamed me of blind firing. At my field blind firing is firing without seeing the oponent. At EMR it seems blind firing is firing without showing your face. So if some schmuck is wholed up in say, the french fort, and you see him through the cracks, raise your kp2 over the top and fire, your blind firing. Now as soon as one of the two refs told me this I told the player to wipe the hit and say sorry. The SC player was so keen on this whole honor thing they came out and tried to pull me from the game. And the other ref (who hadn't sticked around for the secound part) was telling people I blind fired.
So to recap:
-What I did was OK at fields I had played at
-wasn't technically blind firing
-and was immedietly fixed afterwards (told player to wipe hit I gave him) and said sorry
-I had no clue it was wrong as in my book it was not a blind fire
EMR's rules say no blind firing and does not divuldge further (To my best knoladge). But immedietly I had a ref and a SC player running around saying I was blind firing without knowing the whole story. I can see something like this happening with the whole pound tossing idea and that's why I say no to it.

*Burphel tosses 10-shot in the pond for thread hijacking*
pencil - July 17, 2003 04:48 PM (GMT)
maybe but he has a point while I have no qualms about pond tossing those who deserve it tossing an innocent person is something else entirely. at this point I do not have an idea on how to prevent this if I think of one I will post it.
rathbaster - July 18, 2003 04:29 PM (GMT)
*Helps pull 10-shot out of the pond* :P
Anyway, to bring this thread back on track, I've just got 100 more tubes to add to our defense, so that brings my number up to 165.
lexiones - July 18, 2003 06:37 PM (GMT)
ill prolly throw in 30-40
Tyger - July 19, 2003 08:32 AM (GMT)
Just an FYI.
I've GOT the 300 tubes here, in my office. They packed 'em in camo plastic bags. :)
So, they're rady for communal service. ENJOY!

Maverick - July 19, 2003 10:46 AM (GMT)
heh, besides being the largest gathering of pumpers, it looks like this will also be the largest pooling of "tubes" outside of a distributer ever as well :D well ave to get pics of the pile..
As for the pond tossing event.. B) , im not too concerned and dont think itll be necessary, its made much more of a "stir" than i thought it would.. so while it still is a viable option in some cases in my mind, its not like wed just arbitrarily drag people out and toss em.. so if the offence is bad enough to get dunked, it would probably enough to be ejected..perhaps blue will allow us to offer this as an alternative to kicking someone out of the park, for our amusement.. walk the plank matie! :D
Back to tubes now... let no pump player lack of tubes for this event, I will be bringing many to the event(couple hundred at least) , and i dont plan on bringing em home :D
rathbaster - July 20, 2003 04:24 PM (GMT)
We should lay all the tubes out like ordnance as well.
Burphel - July 20, 2003 07:29 AM (GMT)
Heh. I've been thinking. Considering how many of the pumpers I know that are gun whores, I'd like to see a picture of all the pumps brought to the event laid out in front of the Castle. Kinda like those military pictures with the jet and it's ordinance.
As far as tubes, I'm figuring on picking up about 150 prior to game, plus about 25 I already have. Wanna go home with 100.
lexiones - July 21, 2003 04:04 AM (GMT)
lol we should lay all the guns out w/ 200 pumpers thats like 300000000000000000000000 guns considering the gun whore attitude we have :D
pencil - July 21, 2003 05:59 PM (GMT)
that would be pretty cool to see all those pumps in oneplace like that you could have something hrere
Hans - July 24, 2003 04:57 AM (GMT)
Ok......Sponsorship time.
I'll toss in as many tubes as I can spare. If finances allow it, I'll bring a full case of ONE THOUSAND tubes. No, I am not kidding. Now I just need some volunteers to help fill them with paint! (Both in the way of purchasing it and actually putting it in the tubes)
So, how about this plan. Somebody brings a big-ass cooler, and we just fill it with tubed paint in the recycle area. A big sign "Shoot Me" on the top, and let everybody grab as needed.
-Hans
Burphel - July 24, 2003 10:12 AM (GMT)
Um... Holy shit?
I was planning on bringing my little collapsable cooler that'll hold 2-3 cases loose (not sure how much tubed) . Frankly, with that many, I'll probably leave my personal stash at home and just put some paint into the pot. Tubes take up a lot of space in checked baggage.
As for filling, use same coolers, rubber band about 10 tubes together, dunk and cap. A little music, maybe a DVD on my laptop, some alcohol-feuled funny people, and we're set. Maybe even do it in a corner of the clubhouse so we can take beerpong breaks.
Side note: Hey Rath, you still want to lay out all the tubes, you gotta pick em all back up.
rathbaster - July 24, 2003 12:49 PM (GMT)
 uh, lets just lay out our guns
Hans - August 21, 2003 05:04 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, not sure if I can get the 1000 box in time, nor if I will have a vehicle able to fit them all, but I am definitely in for the "Few hundred" range.

Hans - great idea - I will have a case in time ( just got 3 in ) so those of you looking to fly in like Burphel leave your tubes at home.
Also for those of you running 12 grams I'll have them at the castle for 5.00 a dozen
worrptangl - August 25, 2003 01:03 AM (GMT)
Thanks Crash!! Im not sure how many tubes i can do but i know paint isnt a problem for me to chip in.
Staple - August 27, 2003 07:55 PM (GMT)
i'll bring all the tubes i got i think about 75 or so to donate to "the cause"

dont have time to read this post in full as I am running out the door, but I would be interested in the pool.
Are there going to be any 10rnd tubes there for sale? I can get them from scp for great prices but I dont wanna pay the shipping if i dont have too.
Quickling - August 29, 2003 06:43 PM (GMT)
k.. read the post now that I am home. I am still in, I have 8 pods and I will try and buy more (most likely I will try and buy some at EMR to save shipping...if they would be avail).
Hans - August 31, 2003 02:37 AM (GMT)
I'll definitely have some there for sale, as will Crash I would bet. LOL I may even have a "used" deal on them for ones that get dirty in the great Tube Gathering.
