Some pictures of the field:

Firebase Echo:

Difficult approaches, but infantry can be supported with armor from the west side.
Two story, outlying bag pits.
Assault difficulty: High

The Bridge:

The Bridge is located within small arms range just to the south and west of the Outpost.
The team who controls the bridge also controls the PAV traffic over the entire southern 1/3 of the field.
A very important choke point if your team is relying on armor to do the dirty work.

I'll be there passing out flyers.

;)

SATCOM
Entrenchments, lower platform, rampage, upper platform.
Difficult to assault due to it's hilltop location, but has weak points.
Assault difficulty: Medium/High

THE MUNITIONS/FUEL DEPOT
Tire stacks, fuel drums, what you would expect at an ammo/fuel dump.
This position is perched on the edge of an area that repeat players have
christened "Mordor", a rough and tumble rocky area stretching to the
north and east of it. This area aids in the assault of this position.
Assault difficulty: Medium

THE OUTPOST
300' of elevated walkway
20' X 20' elevated center platform
Lots of open area makes assaulting this position difficult,
however, it is also difficult to defend with too few troops due to it's size.
Assault difficulty: High

AWESOME!!! I usually go up to Farmington about that time (50~ miles north up on 67)- I have family there, and I usually go duck hunting, but if I can get that saturday off, I just might swing by... IF I make it, I'm willing to bet that I'll be the only one from Birmingham, AL to show up

Kraus - October 5, 2007 05:55 PM (GMT)
Paint prices have changed. They are actually $5 cheaper now.

Kraus - October 13, 2007 06:55 AM (GMT)
I forgot to add, there is plenty of room to camp at this field... and it is completely free.

vonort - October 15, 2007 03:30 AM (GMT)
Any signs of initial intrest or pre regs? I've always wanted to hit one of Smakzones games. Just want to justify the drive from OH to do it.

Kraus - October 15, 2007 06:13 AM (GMT)
There is some interest... but if you're looking for a large game, I wouldn't count on it. I'd say we'll probably have about 30 or so. Should still be fun, but I don't know if it'll be worth the drive. I guess that is up to you.

vonort - October 15, 2007 03:42 PM (GMT)
Thanks Kraus. I'll have to see if there is any others that might want to tag along. Its about an 8 hour drive for me. Would love to see the event take off. One of the reasons I was considering it.

Kraus - October 15, 2007 06:02 PM (GMT)
If you do get some people together and make the drive, I'll make sure there is some prize or something for longest distance traveled. ;)

Commando Kyle - October 23, 2007 03:01 PM (GMT)
Kraus, looks like Matt and I will be heading out that way. The Army got in the way of Red Dawn for me, so the Showdown will be my scenario for September.

Kraus - October 23, 2007 08:21 PM (GMT)
Awesome. Hopefully we'll have a decent turnout.

Commando Kyle - October 23, 2007 08:38 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I hope so. Smakzone is a big place for 30 people.

Kraus - October 23, 2007 09:21 PM (GMT)
The battles will be concentrated so people aren't spread over the whole field. They'll just be 1 base at a time in play.

Amoryl - October 27, 2007 03:45 PM (GMT)
darn you all to heck! why do these things have to happen on the weekend i'm moving?

Commando Kyle - November 13, 2007 03:35 PM (GMT)
You are in luck. Its been postponed.

sweet, march! i can do march. got new dates? i'll make sure my schedual's clear.

Kraus - November 16, 2007 02:17 AM (GMT)
Tentatively planned for March 29-30, 2008.

Ph4n7oM 3 - November 16, 2007 06:57 PM (GMT)
We will def. be there now.

This change in dates helps alot!

I will try and get a big group together as I know a ton of pumpers in the STL area as well as some teams down south.

This should be a good turnout!
