Title: Sniper II and 12 grams
paintballssting - May 15, 2004 01:17 AM (GMT)
I was wondering if it would be possible or more so effective to use the 12 gram cartridges with my Sniper II? I was going to use a nitro tank but that kind of defeats the purpose of being small and stealthy :ph43r: Also does anyone know how many shots I would get from a 12 gram?
On another note is there any other kind of loader that I could use with my Sniper? I like the tube feeds found on the phantoms and was wondering if they are in any way adaptable to the Sniper II?

I have a cocker body that Carter made into a sniper (same concept) and I get about 18 shots through a reg and bottom line. the stock feed tube is milled into the body of mine-costly though. You could do a stick feed out of pvc and a cci end cap-really inexpensive like 10 bucks if you do it right. you could get one from palmers pursuit shop that looks nice and would be readily available. pbmaxx could make on that clamps onto the top nicely. it depends on what type of feed yo have and how many rounds to want to carry in the tube?
if you spring it right than you can get even better efficiency than mine- I have heard of more shots being acquired by other owners. :pow: :pow: :pow:

This is my sniper setup with a palmer's tube. The thing about 12 gram effeciancy is really determined by the kind've sniper you have the pre-99 cockers have smaller valve chambers and tend to work better with the 12grams where as the newer cockers have larger chambers for low pressure setups which are less efficent with 12 grams. One of the big things would be to get a nelson spring set and put the hardest spring you can into your valve and then use the softest hammer spring you can and still keep your velocity above 260. This will give less dwell time on the valve so its open the shortest amount of time possible and will also help keep the hammer bounce down so extra gas is not wasted after the shot. Reasonable expectations should be in the 20-25 shot range.

Quick question about the stock class feed tubes. How exactly do they work? Do you have to tip the marker to get it to load or do you just have to cock it? I am new to this type of loader so any and all help is much appreciated.

Since the stocker tube attaches to your feed nipple you can mount it any way that you preferr. horizontal to do the rock and cock thing. or at angle to get more of stick gravity feed. Though due to the nature of the construction of it as it attaches to the feed nipple you do have a 1 or two ball stack over the breech so it's not true stock class.

Thanx Clearush for the info. I decided to "custom" make one with 3/4" copper pipe. Once I get it painted and mounted I will post a pic for you guys to critique. :D

So I took my "baby" out for a test drive on the weekend and let me just WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Sniper II for me all the way. Yeah baby!Yeah! I love it, it performed as good as I expected it to even better. I got 20 shots (test shots) per 12 gram before the performance went down the toilet. Man playing bushball with a Sniper II is so cool, granted you have to be sure that you will actually "kill" your targets with one shot, but sneaking around in the "toolies" really pisses the other players off especially when you nail them unexpectedly :D .
In total I used about 30 balls (10 for actual game play). I made two good kills, last one I used more cause of a "firefight". Im hoping to play one shot one kill soon. Man it will take forever to use a case of paint. Mmmmmm the savings Im going to have, I will be able to buy the more expensive paint and not worry about the cost to much.
Oh yeah I will also be getting a PGP 2k1 soon (within 2 wks) I'll keep ya'll posted as to how much I like that little pumper.
Later guys/ggals

sounds cool there paintballssting, just keep up with the sniper and you will achieve one shot, one kill. :)
Or, if the people there start to annoy you for some reason, remove the pump kit and place in the semi-parts and go from there.
