Title: Rock and Cock Old Timers Reunion
Description: Stock Paintball Event
TouchofGrey - May 1, 2004 08:43 PM (GMT)
Don't know how many old school players we can muster up for June 2004 but here is the deal. June 2004 will be my 20th year of playing paintball. Just going down to Strategy plus and playing for the day is not going to cut it. I want to be around players that I played with in the past. If anyone out there knows anyone from the following teams, please have them reply to this post.
This will be stock class only - as it should be!
Tactical Assault Command
New England Express
Wild Geese - The real Wild Geese formed out of New Hampshire
Firestorm
Thunderstorm
Ballbusters of Western MA
I probably forgot other teams (my mind in not what it used to be) but all old school players are welcome.
Our goal is to have a Bar-B-Que and campout on Saturday and then play on Sunday. Figure everyone bring a side dish and meat - but we have lots of time to plan for this.
www.strategyplus.com is the field link
So far we have;
The Paintball Marshalls
The Grip Reapers
Tactical Assault Command
Thanks,
CraigO
aka "The Moongod"
TAC
Play hard and Play naked

I was at Castle last week, and wearing the T.A.C. patch.
One of the Tippmann guys(Tom Gheese?) looked at it and said he remembered Craig and Slim.
I told him of the game, and he expressed interest, but I wouldn't know how to contact him.
TouchofGrey - May 2, 2004 12:46 PM (GMT)
Possibly Slimbad might know how. Tom Ghee was one of the original players and field managers at Strategy Plus back in the early eighties.
TouchofGrey - May 2, 2004 08:30 PM (GMT)
I PM'd you re: Ghee's Email under paintballresource.org. I would have posted it but wasn't sure that it should be public.
Thanks
Pyrate Jim - May 6, 2004 01:58 AM (GMT)
Reached Tom, and Mike B.
Haven't heard back from Keeling, still looking for Baron and Horner.
Do you remember Vernon Rohde?
TouchofGrey - May 7, 2004 01:52 AM (GMT)
Vernon. Oh yes! He was best friends with Mike and Chris and we were all part of Tactical Assault Command. My mind can't remember everyone.
Pyrate Jim - May 7, 2004 10:35 PM (GMT)
Tom and Mike are interested, Chris K. won't be able to make it.
Was given an addy for Vernon, but no answer yet.
ladymarshal - May 10, 2004 11:48 PM (GMT)
were already on board for that game
and its listed in our schedule for anyone who is interested in looking up the field info or directions that sort of thing
bought a new tent
plenty of space.
Bld 19 gotta love it.
TouchofGrey - June 9, 2004 12:20 AM (GMT)
I would encourage anyone going to this event to please make reservations through www.strategyplus.com asap. Especially if you are camping out the night before.
Things run smoother when Chris knows about how many people are coming.
Thanks
ladymarshal - June 11, 2004 12:21 PM (GMT)
;)
yah, Id like it if all players did that
it makes it a lot easier on everyone if they let you know they are coming.
like when we tried to set up games in the past for a birthday
theres a big diffrence between getting a small cake and 2 sheet cakes
Jim & I are definately going
and I just mailed out to my NE guys
so maybe well get a few more.
SL kid - June 14, 2004 01:10 AM (GMT)
along im not an old timer and niether r my friends were pumpers and we'll be there both for the BBQ and the game Sun.
Im going to call strategy 2morrow and get some more info but anyone have a clue on costs?
Also wat time is everyone going to show up sat for the cookout and such?
TouchofGrey - June 14, 2004 01:42 AM (GMT)
I believe the cost is $20 with your own equiptment. Field paint only. It's good paint and you wont have to buy an entire case. Usually a case has 4 bags of 500 balls so 4 of us usually go in on a case. The whole day should run you about:
$20 game fee
$20 paint - 500 rounds (may be less, haven't needed to buy paint for a year)
$8 - $10 (20 C02)
But you can speak to Chris when you call 1-800-952-9007 after 12 noon on Monday.
See you all Saturday night. I should show up around 6:30.
Lets all pray that it does not RAIN!!!!!
ladymarshal - June 14, 2004 02:55 PM (GMT)
Uh Oh.
now you did it.
you said the "R" word.
now we know who to blame if it does.
good thing stock guns work well in the........ R <_<
SL kid - June 15, 2004 01:27 AM (GMT)
Just curious but wat will everyone be sporting for markers? If someone has a KP that there bringing i would love to try it out.
TouchofGrey - June 15, 2004 01:47 AM (GMT)
I'll be using a PGP blessed by the gods themselves. Unfortunatly it isn't mine but I promised I would used its mystical powers to eliminate most of the opposition. Kudos to Kim Murphy for its use. Gosh, never used an $800 PGP before! This gotta be one of the smoothest stock markers I ever shot - but alas, it's pink.
In a addition I will also be using my trusted Nelspot that I have been playing with since 1983.
Pyrate may have a KP2 rifle but I am thinking he may be using that or a Splatmaster.
SL kid - June 15, 2004 02:00 AM (GMT)
ah ill be sporting the pmi-1 i just finished up and either 1 or both of my pgps. also maybe my SL-68 with horizontal copper tubing feed.my pmi-1 is cherry red well thats wat the spraypaints said :D I cant wait to play with u guys.
ladymarshal - June 15, 2004 06:02 AM (GMT)
Pgp of the gods?
your not using MY gun
Nuh-Uh.
MY PGP is the cool one.
actually Im gonna Nick Name the one your using
Jiiggly-Puff
one swipe with that pink pistol and players are down for the count
but seriously...pink huh?
I got to see this.
my hubby will have his KP I'm sure he can loan it to you
for a game or 2

TouchofGrey - June 15, 2004 09:48 PM (GMT)
Kim wanted the PGP painted with a pink epoxy coat. Aside from its color it's very nice. Shooting a Nelspot all these years it may take some getting used to tilting the marker up to load rather than down. I'll probably just end up using my Nelspot after I get confused.
TouchofGrey - June 16, 2004 10:07 PM (GMT)
Hopefully Jim can fix my Nelspot. Suddenly, in the last week, I think it committed suicide. Frame cracked, so I replaced it. Need nut and bolt to attach frame to valve body. Think I'll pop over to Home Depot for some machine screws. Wont cock probably cuz I started messing with springs but I need intervention cuz I'm just run down. Anyway, I got the pink PGP to use
TouchofGrey - June 20, 2004 08:51 PM (GMT)
Thanks to all who attended. I know fathers day wasn't the best time to have this game but hey, we had 8 people playing. We introduced two new pump players into the realm and hopefully they will recruit others. For a couple of semi-players that converted to stock, they were great
Thanks to Jim and Missy for sharing their tent with me. Kudos go out to Pyrate for the best damn venison chili I have ever eaten.
Thanks to Chris for letting us have the event.
The campout the night before was full of reminisence from the old days and frivolity.
Look forward to seeing everyone in September - Slimbad will be coordinating a stock event during that month.
Note: I tried shooting other markers but went back to my Nelspot for the last part of the day. Hopefully it has forgiven me for using a Phantom and a PGP.
Pyrate Jim - June 20, 2004 09:39 PM (GMT)
A big yellow splat in my goggle lens tells me she still loves you.
Yeah, the turnout was less than hoped for but a good time nontheless. Glad you liked the chili. I should have put some in a ziplock for you, I made more than enough.
It was good practice for me with all my old gear out. I'm gonna need a bigger table or something to really display it all. I want to set it up next weekend as well at the scenario game, plus a few pieces and the photo albums. Maybe if I can show it to a bigger crowd, it'll help with the next time people just want to try it.
SL kid - June 21, 2004 12:05 AM (GMT)
when anyone gets any of the pictures developed if possibly i wouldnt mind a copy and yes it was a great time
Pyrate Jim - June 23, 2004 01:49 AM (GMT)
I got a couple shots from the night before being developed now. But on Sunday I gave my camera to Ladymarshal who got a half-dozen shots when she could, mostly on the Xball field. That roll won't get used up till next weekend so I won't get them back on disc till the week after.
Maverick - June 23, 2004 01:08 PM (GMT)
Roll?? Film??? do they still sell that stuff??? LOL!!! stuff going to be harder to find than a score trigger for a nellie soon.... ;)
Sounds like the event was a blast, im goining to have to get up there for one of these.. i need to play some real paintball!! :D
Pyrate Jim - June 23, 2004 10:52 PM (GMT)
I have a digi, and I had it with me but it takes almost a full second between the time you push the button and when it takes the picture.
Great for posed shots, but worthless in a paintball game.
The roll being developed has a lot of pics from TKR, so I'll have those to send around by Email to anyone who wants to see the Fell beast while it was at EMR.

Ah, yah - about that sorry about that
after pirates Chili
the tent became a hot air balloon.
good part about that is
it doubles as knock out gas
so you dont have to endure it long
actually the chili was quite good
