Title: TKR
Description: The King Returns
Pyrate Jim - April 27, 2004 11:40 PM (GMT)
Big MXS game to be held May 29/30 at EMR.
Today my daughter turns 10 and she wants to make this her first scenario.
As a birthday present, I Emailed Mother and secured for her the role of Eowen (who has to slay the fell beast)
The fell beast will be played by a good friend, LadyMarshal. So I'll be a little less worried, but I'll still be hanging right over her the whole time she's on the field.
And my wife will make her a costume for the game. My wife made the winning costume last year, second place year the before.
But the first Ring game, the good side set a record for the most missions accomplished in any MXS game. Twin Towers saw Tom Kaye as Sauron as the evil horde set an MXS record for the biggest point spread ever.
So the third game will pay for all!
And I haven't heard of any big names coming to help out the baddies this year so I think Mordor will fall with a very loud noise.
Anybody else thinking about going?

My daughter made out pretty good for a 10 year old, considering her party won't be till Saturday.
Besides the books, games and clothing, She recieved a PMI 4+1 pack, a Pure Energy 68ci3k tank, a Dye Izon anno'd to match her MicroMag RT, and a Proteus mask in green/gold chamelion.
I think she'll be set for the game.

For a game this high caliber I honestly feel MXS should do a public score tab. I know I know they're going to say "if one team gets too far ahead the other team will just give up and blah blah" I don't buy that.
2 reasons. 1) People paid the money to be there, they're going to keep playing. And 2) They see how far down they are, many are then going to get psyched up and motivate the rest of the team to play harder to shorten that point spread.
But it won't happen, or any event really. Except Hells Survivors they post scores, and I haven't seen people leave their events early due to wide score gap. In fact it did just the 2 things I previously mentioned! I know from experience at 2 Tippmann World Challenges it happened.

First, a game this high caliber would(should) have more coverage. If it weren't for Meph's article about Twin Towers, I wouldn't have known it had happened by watching the trade rags.
Second, Keeping a score table means extra work. Lord knows that Mother and Pacman do everything they can for the players, but anyone who's tried to help out at one of these events knows how daunting a task it can be as it is.
But I agree that a posted score will not make people walk out. When I play a game and know that we're behind, I spend less time fooling around in the parking lot.

Yeah, but the lil secret about my article was the title itself. Originally Tolkien wasn't calling it "Two Towers" though that is what it ended up being obviously. The original title of the book was "The Treason of Isenguard" since of course Saruman joined forces with Sauron and became his lil puppet, plus the hybrid-breeding of Orcs and Gondor Men.
So I might not have legally been able to name it Two towers, had to be Twin Towers. But I did save face and paid respect to Tolkien (and diehard fans) by that lil added feature.
Other than that I wrote that whole article in 4 days on 4 days notice. I got called up by Jon at PBNMAG and said "our guy jumped on us, can you help?" I said sure and typed a frenzy. Realized I needed more info, and did 3 days of intense contacting and research. Even had to eat up phone charge to call up Mother in Texas to get some info asap. Scores, players, who won what, all that good jazz.
Royal pain in the arse I might add.
*edit* Hey, this is my 222nd post. I am now officially 1/3 evil! And there was much rejoicing. Yaaaaaaaaaay
