TrojanMan - February 6, 2007 09:40 PM (GMT)
That's interesting. If it is true that it has moved, I wouldn't have any wedding conflicts!
On the downside, everyone that purchased nonrefundable plane tickets... ouch.
Good luck, Brim. Let me know if you need some help.
EqualsP - February 6, 2007 10:27 PM (GMT)
yea, definatly keep us informed..
Crash is there anything you can add?
=P
Noodles - February 6, 2007 11:21 PM (GMT)
Yes, I definitely wouldn't mind. It will be hot as all get out, but it won't interfere with the honeymoon. No offense to all you great people at EMR, but I don't want to spend my honeymoon there, despite the fact that it seems Ted really does...
I would like to know why they changed it, however. The reason it was moved to July was to make it more enjoyable and accessible for all. Are we not that important anymore?? :(
rathbaster - February 7, 2007 12:08 AM (GMT)
This may not be good for me, we may need another general to take my place.....
-rat
Krueger - February 7, 2007 02:13 AM (GMT)
OMG!! I had a surgery scheduled the week before the original date...and it got moved to a week before the date they have now! ARG! now I can't go!!!
Pyrate Jim - February 7, 2007 02:45 AM (GMT)
Damn.
I told the Masse's about the date change last weekend, I didn't think to put it up here.
I thought everybody else already knew about it. :(
Paint Wench - February 7, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
Cool now I can call it my birthday present.
I can think of no better way to spend an otherwise very depressing # birthday.

BigOldSkool - February 9, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
Ahh.. lovely brutally hot and dusty just like PP2.... yay...
paintballer563 - February 9, 2007 04:01 AM (GMT)
dang.. I dunno If I am gonna be able to make it to this now..school starts around that time..crap!
NUTZ - February 9, 2007 04:45 AM (GMT)
oh god switch it back, for the love of god switch it back
Chemical X - February 9, 2007 06:02 AM (GMT)
Id definitly like it to go back.
I really dont deal with the heat too well.
Drum - February 9, 2007 11:49 AM (GMT)
Call me crazy, but I seem to recall that August in New Milford is a good deal more comfortable heatwise than July.
That said, it is a super drag if it means that some standout figures like Rath can't come.
Plane tickets!?! I hadn't thought of that!
Anyone heard any rumors or facts as to why the switch?
CrashSTP is back in Cleveland.
D.
Brimstone - February 9, 2007 05:15 PM (GMT)
the switch is official, i was told it was so that the date didnt fall on the same date as skirmishes ION.
crazyorigin - February 9, 2007 05:39 PM (GMT)
If people have purchased plane tickets that are non returnable or exchangeable, i think as many of us as possible should go down for when the original date was to play w/ them if they still wanna go. I know i'm down for a couple trips to EMR. I'll come down and play some pump games w/ whoever made plans that way.
NUTZ - February 9, 2007 05:58 PM (GMT)
that is the dumbest thing i've ever heard

Which part?
I don't see a lot of SCP/MCB pumpers thinking of going to Skirmish.

Drum - February 9, 2007 06:03 PM (GMT)
That would be pretty cool to "rebel" and all of us arrive on the original day. You can bet that Blue won't turn us away and we could sure have a hell of a pump gun day/weekend with all the little trigger monkeys down the road paying through the nose at Skirmish.
I understand Rath's concern about the future of the game itself, but I kinda doubt that we as pump fans are going to be faulted if the game is no bigger than last year if the date is changed.
Feels like six months ought to be enough warning for a switch in the schedule, but I must say I am a little embarrassed to hear that it is to accomodate Skirmish. I realize that it is a "peace-keeping" measure between the fields, but it is yet another reminder that pumpers are a "persecuted minority" within the sport.

I have no problem with EMR developing a relationship with Skirmish. I have no problem with a change of date this far in advance.
However, there has been NO official announcement to anyone. Brimstone stumbled across this and brought it up. There has been no official announcement here or on any of the other forums where people have made announcements.

Meph - February 9, 2007 06:50 PM (GMT)
Last year got no help from EMR to pimp this game. Now seems like this year is going to be no different. Gotta do that all ourselves again.
Jeffy-CanCon - February 9, 2007 09:12 PM (GMT)
The other point of view is that we are lucky to have this weekend on their schedule. They make very little profit from it, and the first time EMR did something special for pump players (CC XVI, anyone?), the response was underwhelming.
Meph - February 9, 2007 11:28 PM (GMT)
Oh crap not that cluster****. There were just as many pump players attacking as there was defending. We had a waiting list... why did they ignore it? Could've taking the 10 extra minutes, 20 extra minutes like they do almost every other CC to get everything ready. No with us it had to start exactly on time. We could've had 150 inside those walls! They left us with under 90. I don't care who's in those walls with how much firepower you give them. 700+ against -90 will equal decimation!
Of course there's a whole lot more to this day but really that's just a story I try not to remember too often.

-I have no real problem with them moving the game date. (Regardless of the big inconvenience this may cause me.)
-I have no real problem with them moving it so as not to conflict with another field's big event.
My only source of real irritation in this is the fact that no one was going to announce this. How are people supposed to promote this event if they are not officially informed about a change....I thought SCP was the clearing house for information on Pump Pandemonium. Yet we find out by accident that the date was changed.
If Brimstone hadn't checked the schedule, when would we have found out?

rath is there anyway that you can still go?

says a little something about TM ... do you think?
Chemical X - February 10, 2007 01:20 AM (GMT)
You've never been to an EMR event have you?
If I was local I would definitly have a season pass and go to just hang out when I dont feel like playing.
NUTZ - February 10, 2007 04:47 AM (GMT)
no i was saying it was the dumbest thing ever cause now a buddy of mine can't go cause he has surgery around that time, and he can't move it. he actually moved it once already so he could go to the first date, and he was so looking forward to it :(
Chemical X - February 10, 2007 04:52 AM (GMT)
Well this does have a benefit for me.
I should have my KP-2 sc back from PPS by then.

She feels mid 20's at most to me. :D ;)
Drum - February 12, 2007 02:31 AM (GMT)
Speaking of giving notice and spreading the word, maybe it's time to change the front page banner on this site that still touts the old date.

rathbaster - February 13, 2007 07:00 AM (GMT)
Checked with my father on Sunday.
No problem moving things around.
I'm still general for PP4 for the Blue side.

sloonan - February 14, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
Rath, Good to know you'll still be there.
I put up a post on PbNation to attract some more people.
Looking forward to the game.

Noodles - February 14, 2007 03:30 PM (GMT)
Maybe we need to put together an advertising committee? This same issue is going to come up every year and more than SCPers and MCBers need to know about this game. Who knows places to get the word out?
Any ideas?
TrojanMan - February 14, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)
Has anyone considered putting up the info in the SpecOps game locator?
Though it shames me to admit it, I actually have an account and I could do it if nobody else wants to take the reigns.
IIRC, only about 80% of paintball players are in the online community. Sure that's a large number but it also means that to reach 1 in 5 people we're going to have to do something other than online advertizing.
We've done flyers before that people could stick in their local PB shops.
Perhaps we could do something like that again?
It's never too early to start, right?
Hapy Valentine's Day, Noodles!
Will you be my Valentine? :D
crazyorigin - February 14, 2007 04:39 PM (GMT)
if there is a flyer i would like a couple copies to put up at local places by me. If no one else wants to i can put up info on the SpecOps forum.
