So I got bored last night and was drinking too much Red Bull so I got the stupid idea to make a silencer out of Red Bull cans... Needless to say, I was very bored last night. I tested it this morning and it works fairly well to my suprise.

A little more info on it:

Canister length: ~8 inches
Barrel length: ~11 inches
Ported Length: 7 inches
# of ports: 15

Would I ever play with it? Probably not. The Red Bull cans aren't all that strong. I may play with it once just for shits and giggles but it's not something I'd use regularly. All in all, it only adds 7-8 inches onto the total length, so it's not that unwieldy. Really though, I did it just to see if I could make one and because I was really bored and couldn't sleep.

Yeah, only works for a few shots though. Well on Real guns it does anywho. Old sachool silensers consited of drinking a bottle of soda, then holding the opening up to the muzzle and firing. Got you around 4 shots before it became useless. Could still be used as a Flash hider if you painted it black.

Well, the muffling inside is cotton cloth wrapped about the barrel, so I don't know how well it will stand up over time. I figure one ball break and it's done for, but it's not likely to move any time soon. It was thin cloth so it was wrapped around like 15 times, not tightly though.

the best paintball silencer I have is one a freind of mine made way back in the day . . . it is a tennis ball can outer body, with a PVC pipe that has large holes drilled through it. Some screen door screening and some insulation are the packing material

it is really big but it is insanely quiet. My friend had one on his Sniper 1 with its 'ma bell' barrel and I had one on my original Bushmaster. We'd send another friend of ours forward - he used a SMiG. He would distract the other side and draw all their fire while me and Buddy would snipe them off. Everyone always at first thought it was our one friend with the SMiG causing all the carnage . . . but then they started to wise up when they noticed the paint splats were too big and the wrong color.

the red bull silencer looks good! tinker stuff like that is fun

:D

its a really good looking silencer , but for a first one especially good looking . How well does it work for you ?
I have had a few and experimented with a few , I may be able to give you some pointers if you have anyquestions .

You need to do a write on whats best to use, for example, tall boys, king cans, or regulars, lol

little tip use a shampoo bottle . its plastic lightweight cheaper and dent proof . use different materials for filler and experimentation . never pack filler tightly it lessens the deadening effect , looser the more absorbtion qualities it has for sound . I have one made from PVC and open cell foam , works great . I can give dimensions if you like but I cant for atf rules legally tell you specific's .

try out different housing materials and fill material as well . you should find a happy medium . also the size and spacing of the holes in your inner porting greatly matters as well try yo get the largest and most frequent holes you can to let the pressure vent into your fill materials better .

I havent tried a multiple fill material yet .

Also the thing about them not working for very long is bunk . a paintball gun provides a much lower pressure shockwave at the end of the barrel than gun powder does . one built for paintball guns should have a near infinite lifesapn . I have fired over 1000 shots through mine since I got it which was back in 96 . I dont use it fequently but I use it effectively .

A great tactic for use for them is to shoot when there is no fire at object close to your opposition . especially if you can make some good impact . makes your opposition wonder where you are at . Also encourages them to stay in their current bunker .

Also dont fire at small target let them get some confidence so they start to emerge fom their chosen bunker or barracade , then take the shot . Still another way of encouraging opposition to hold postion .

and if you can at least get your oppostion to hold still your team can coer more ground .

Also if you are having a hard time hitting a small target . just a small waiting game can draw them out enough that you can take a good direct hit to them .

or if you keep mssing your target stay still and hope the oppostion dosent see you . keep loaded and ready to fire and wait till you have them lined up perfectly . then take the shot .

biggest misatkes a sniper can do is to wear some distinguishging gear . ( bright colors ) moving to fast or to quick once you have spotted the other team . dont draw any attention to yourself .

biggest things to help a sharp shooter is a sight , that has been set correctly .
feel free to play with the minds of the other team .
