bhrino - is your Illusion stock on the inside ? By the way that is a sweet anno job . the clear components make it look all the better .

Pmiska - did you polish that phantom your self ? can you tell me about the process from the actual buffing / poishing begging ?

oh yeah pmiska what can you tell me about that sight . I am looking for a new sight as both of my tasco red dot's have finally failed . one has a stripped battery cover so the battery pops out . and the other has a problem with the vertical adjustment and I cannot getinto the aluminum case to repair the damage .

nope, that's the stock "raw" aluminum finish... basically, it is clear annodized.

as for the site, I got it yesterday from medicmoose... all i know is, it is called a blazer, it was made in china, and it seems to work pretty well... i didn't need to make any adjustments out of the package, but I don't know if medicmoose did anything to it beforehand... it is well finished, and includes clear lens covers... most important to me, is it now offers me a good means to aim and shoot... i had difficulty with the little v-groove site rail...

oh yeah, i believe it is a 3/8" weaver style mount... check over at the phog, or with mike cassady at cci to be sure...

i like it, it helps out a lot!

thanks for the interest... i wish i could take credit for the finish on my marker, but that was all mike!

Sights:

V-grove site that goes front to back is a dovetail normaly 2-5" long, 3/8ths is a common measurement. Their found on BB guns, Paintball guns (paintball gun sight rails), most civilian rifles. And to my knowledge all phantoms have dovetails, atleast the replacement sites that you can order from CCI are all dovetails

Weaver style mounts go from the left to the right side of a gun, very popular on military assault rifles(C-7 assault rifle, C-9 LMG, C-8 Carbine). You can't aim with weaver mounts. It's a system put on a gun to attach sites too (examples: Service handle/iron sites, optical site, scope, night vision sites, ect). I think the new Zeus Paintball Pistol has Weaver mounts.

Hopes this helps with identification.

Chem, check out the Marshals webpage, you should see a picture of a KP with a similar site. I thinks it's an ADCO, and therfore pretty easy to get. If you like the pic, the Marshals are very helpful people and I am sure they will tell you all about the site.

Found this pic in Murf's pics of a weaver mount You see those 3 horizontal lines at the bottom, that's a Weaver set-up (it's on the bottom of the marker in this case, so it's meant for things like handles and laser sites.)

lemming, thanks for the clarification!

my last experiance with real firearms was in 6th grade at boyscout camp! well, they never discussed the difference between weaver and dovetail...

anyways, thanks again!

Yeah, the internals are stock. I was thinking of getting the valve tuned a bit, but really it's fine the way it is. I really like the way the ano turned out, as far as I know it's the only one with trace ano on the milling. I have a matching 12gr changer and feed neck aswell, I just don't use them often. I remember when I first ordered it they said they were working on a prototype clear pump, and about a week before mine was finished I saw the clear pumps on the website and called Ernest to add one to my marker. I recently got a clear CCI feed cap that really finishes off the look, Ill get some pics up when I get my digi cam back.

Damn, you guys get fire arm trainning in Scouts, I thought that was just in the movies??? Up here Scouts get no fire arm trainning, if you want that you have to join the Army Cadets (Sea and Air don't generaly gey assualt rifle trainning at all), and even then we were only alowed to take the C-7s to semi, had to join the army before I was alowed to use full auto weapons.

Boy Scouts in America can get the Archery, Shotgun and Rifle merit badges. When I was a boy in BSA (I'm now considered an adult, and thus instead of a Boy Scout, I'm a Scouter) I got the shotgun and rifle merit badges. They teach you how to properly use and clean a .22 rifle (for rifle merit badge), and how to properly shoot and clean a shotgun (shotgun merit badge). They only taught the basics, and all shooting was done in a VERY STRICTLY controlled enviroment. In shotgun, you couldn't even load the shells yourself, the range instructor did, and it was only one shell at a time, no use of a tube magazine. Also, the range instructor stood right behind you and you had to obey his every command (duh! as far as I know, this is true for ALL shooting ranges everywhere). I didn't mind too much, as scout camp was where I got all my firearms experience. Otherwise, if I hadn't taken those merit badge courses, I would have diddly squat for firearms experience.

Oh, and a little tidbit of info, BSA does NOT allow or encourage the training of boys in shooting handguns, only shotguns and rifles, as they are used for hunting (supposedly) whereas handguns have the primary purpose of being anti-personel weapons. Also, bsa does not support the playing of paintball for the same reasons (I think it's stupid, but this is what I'm told from one of the range instructors at the boy scout camp I went to).

I do understand that this is the gallery thread but I had a comment for Pmiska

If you want to get your phantom a brighter finish / check out a auto parts store for a compound called mothers mag polish I tried some on my SL 68 and it gave it a mirror finish . it required no hard work at all and it was very inexpensive . http://www.superiorcarcare.net/momagalpo.html it was as easy as rubbing it on and wiping it off .
it should be available at nearly any auto parts store in your area . The directions are as simplae as rub till it turns black wipe off and move on to the next area . tha little 5oz tub cost me 4.55 and I used less than a 1/4 OZ of it . My sl is so bright now . I can only wonder what it what do to some good aluminum ( SL casting is a low grade aluminum ) .

any way I thought I would share .

as for the boy scouts, siir brass is 100% correct... though, i have heard of a few troops playing paintball... but yeah, shotgun, and rifle merti badges where were I got the little firearms experiance that i have. I was also one requirement away from my archery merit badge... i was a pretty good shot with a bow too... but alas, i am well over 18 so i just need to let go...

as for the polish, thanks for the heads up, but I am going to leave it as is for now... i primarily play in a wooded environment, so as it is the raw aluminum betrays me... polishing it to a mirror shine would only hurt me more... but someday, when i am rich and famous and can affoard 2 phantoms, i will get a black one, and polish my silver one until it shines like the sun ;)
