Title: Looking for old pictures
Description: Is there a place to find collections?

redharvest - March 10, 2006 06:09 PM (GMT)
While enjoying personal galleries @ MCB I happen across some really cool old school pics. Does anyone know of a site that showcases & trades old paintball photos? Or is it hunt and peck?

i think you have to dig to find them

Seems to me there was a video clip of a news article from the 80's about paintball. I wish I remembered where to find it.

I think this was it.

I think for pictures it's more hunt and peck. There was one site that had a collection of older and more recent paintball ads. Any way, here's an old school video to keep you interested for a bit.

A Nelspot holds 14 paintballs ???

Something must be wrong with both of mine.

pgp4life - March 12, 2006 12:13 PM (GMT)

That is some awesome, old school footage. I remember wathing those old paintball games on TV when I was just a little kid. That is the way paintball should be televised today. :D

The online paintball museum is good for old gun pictures and you can find magazine ads and full-page scans if you dig hard enough.

What are you looking for inparticular?

I'm sure I could probably find it in collection of old paintball mags. I have.
I have most of them from '98 back to the the fall of '87.

I love that magazine cover. :)

Makes me chuckle a bit thinking that they brought this guy into a studio, had him get all dressed up, then had him sit there and pose - looking into the camera - while another dude shot him a couple of times. TAKE THE HIT!!!

redharvest - March 14, 2006 02:25 AM (GMT)
Thanks,
I am not searching for anything special, just thought there may be a mecca of old school photos.

I wish Bob Long would have slapped Billy the puss.

I love that magazine cover. :)

Same here, though I love how it says "hi-tech" and the gun on the cover is a pump with a silencer, special sights, and CA. Sigh... Wish I was playing in the old days :P.

JaKaL - March 14, 2006 04:07 AM (GMT)
And a stickfeed! High freakin' tech man, I tell you what!

What do you think those guys would have done if a Halo or q-loader somehow managed to time travel back and pop into existence on one of the guns... :)

The Final Countdown paintball style!

I think it would be awseome if there was a link to download old APG magazines. I don't know how it would work with copy rights and all, but I would love to just sit and scroll through all of the old articles. My brother and I loved that old footage, that was great.

Tom222 - March 14, 2006 01:41 PM (GMT)
So.....what would you guys like....Gear reviews...Tournament coverage...Tech. Tips...Front Covers...let me know and I'll scan some more.

JaKaL - March 14, 2006 03:30 PM (GMT)
Ummm... every page in high resolution??? :)

Seriously though - front covers, marker reviews, any good features, and maybe tech tips would be my choices. I could swear I have a ton of "older" mid-90's APG around somewhere, put they're probably stuffed into a box or something at my parents' house.

Love the pics!

I've been trying to find some pics from older APG's. I had my pic in the mag a few times and have been trying to find them.

Tom222 - March 16, 2006 12:25 AM (GMT)
50 cal,

Give me a timeline and some clues as to what to look for and I'll see whart I can find.

Imagine a CO2 cartridge gun, capable of getting 20 shots per air capsule, which can hit consistantly at 40 yards!

AMAZING!!! B)

Tom, please, you have to post all the scans you do as an article on MCB or something like that. I really love your work here! Thank you very much for the glimpse into what I'm sure is an amazing and extensive collection of paintball memorabilia.

Keep it coming!

Nice, I had never heard of the USA Crossfire EQ. It looks badass with the "break barrel" and spring feed. Anyone know why it is so unheard of?...unless I am the only one that never heard of it
Thanks Tom. :)

QAZ123 - March 17, 2006 02:40 PM (GMT)
Yeah I was wondering the same thing I never heard of it nor heard anyone mention it before.

JB.

cooldood31 - March 17, 2006 03:14 PM (GMT)
According to other sources the Equalizer is the gun that time forgot. After the first summer, it just kind of dissapeared. It was seen shortly a couple years later as 2 identical clones were being made by two different companies.

On another note, the bottom right hand corner of that last front cover just about made me sick. It seems as though those old pump only days weren't quite as some remember.

QAZ123 - March 17, 2006 03:16 PM (GMT)
Cheating has alway's been around. I think I read somewhere that on limited paint tournament's they found people stashing paint on the field before games or something like that.

I found the source to the place I found my info on the Equalizer. Wow, that was so painfully difficult :P

QAZ123 - March 17, 2006 03:21 PM (GMT)
I think I'm going to take my old Diablo and put a bottomline setup and make a huge stick feed for it!!

Tyger's archive of oldschool pictures, I'm surprised no one posted this yet.

Clearush - March 17, 2006 03:27 PM (GMT)
TOM, if we could make a request I would like to see that cheating article to see its tone as I know APG sometimes can be a bit sarcastic with some of its articles.

Tom222 - March 17, 2006 03:39 PM (GMT)
No problem. I considered posting it, but it's a 2 page picture and I hadn't done that yet with all the cutting and pasting. Then I decided to do the Eqaulizer and it wasn't so bad. So tonights project will be the Cheating Article.

I just read it, and I'm still trying to figure out whether or not that article is being sarcastic. It does point out ways of cheating I haven't even heard of before, but by doing so it also shows ways to find cheaters. Although, not all of the things mentioned are straight out cheating, but dishonourable conduct (I don't condone (spelling?) any of these activities. Honour isn't something I'm willing to toss over a game), but I'm less likely to be pissed if I get tricked by some player with an aerosol can then if someone wipes a hit)

If you have any 80s-very early 90s paintball gun ads or pictures of players with their guns/equipment in those magazines that you could scan for us that would be gold. Do it yourself mod articles would be awesome too.

Tom222 - March 18, 2006 01:24 AM (GMT)
Did you read About The Author at the end of the article?

I think that indicates that it's pretty "tounge in cheek".

Erkstevo - March 18, 2006 07:30 AM (GMT)
In the second picture second paragraph he actually implies that you should shoot a cheater with a real gun if you have to.

wtf? that article has to be a joke.

Thank you Tom! Those pics are awesome. They ceratinly don't make guns like that anymore. A real shame too...

Anyways, if it's not too much to ask, could you show us that '10 Ways to Become a Better Captain' article, it sounds interesting.

Oh, I just had a great idea, why don't we just crack this thread right open and make it everything oldschool? You can post old warstories, what you thought of direct feed and c/a, what marker you had back then, what marker you wanted, favourite old field, how the game changed, marker quality, what was in your gearkit, prettymuch anything you can think of. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to here the stories.
