Title: CTRP Beta Versions

fxar99 - March 11, 2005 06:16 PM (GMT)
Hello everybody!

I'd like to ask... couldn't there be any "testing" versions before the final release? Why don't you (the CTRP team) release some levels so that we, the other members, can have a closer look to your work?

I beg you guys, I can't wait to see the Dark Ages in 3D!!!!

Modify - March 11, 2005 06:27 PM (GMT)
Patient... patients :)

From what I heard there not even done the complete demo <_<

but ya Beta of the full game would be nice in the future :)

but all starts with patients

KingH - March 11, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
yeah.. I dindn't even see any concepts..
but I'm Mr.Patient himself :D..
the only thing what's important, is THAT there's gonna be a remake...(after I don't even thought about a 3D CT, until a few weeks ago)
:D

WolfPack - March 11, 2005 09:21 PM (GMT)
Egh! A beta would be the worse thing that could happen. It would spread all over the net, and get squares attention.

KingH - March 11, 2005 09:34 PM (GMT)
yepp.. uhm.. just..
Does CTRP have a plan-B ?
for countinueing the project? for the "if"

Knives - March 11, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
There will be a closed beta before the official release. We'll decide on a system for picking the lucky members who get to beta test when the time comes.

Chuckles - March 11, 2005 11:35 PM (GMT)
And to my knowledge, plan-B = Stopping production...

GalaxyFalcon - March 11, 2005 11:42 PM (GMT)
Great. Thats comforting, chuckles.

KingH - March 11, 2005 11:46 PM (GMT)
nice plan, that B ^^.. woooh

Sir_Crono531 - March 11, 2005 11:54 PM (GMT)
Ahh!! I can't wait for the demo!! Even though I can't play it! I still can't wait! Lol
Anyways, from what I know, plan B is all good. ;)

KingH - March 12, 2005 12:00 AM (GMT)
naah.. forget it..
real plan b is...
..
..
.........
..
I simply make the game alone^^.. done!..
thats a plan eh? :D

Chuckles - March 12, 2005 12:32 AM (GMT)
I'm only here to help :P

The Mango - March 12, 2005 01:31 AM (GMT)
Closed beta testing. :o

*starts being a super brown nosing kiss-ass*

Wow, brain, man you are soooo cool...

WolfPack - March 12, 2005 02:59 AM (GMT)
Hey, now theres a perk for the top ten posters. closed beta trials :D  :D

GmMontex03 - March 12, 2005 03:45 AM (GMT)
That makes sence, since the top 10 posters could do it, then tell everyone else how it was.

KingH - March 12, 2005 03:54 AM (GMT)
yeah, if you gonna count the posts, beginning from uhm.. now.. I'll get in the top ten, easyly.. :D

GmMontex03 - March 12, 2005 04:03 AM (GMT)
Well, it will be whenever they are ready to send it out, plus alot of the members arn't on or havnt been on for months. So they might have a specific way to choose who gets it and who doesn't.

KingH - March 12, 2005 04:13 AM (GMT)
allrighty

Knives - March 12, 2005 08:31 AM (GMT)
If we just base it on the top 10 posters, wouldn't that be kind of illogical? One those people might not have UT2004, and two we need computers from different ends of the technical spectrum. I'll certainly say post count would be at least a partial factor, but the other ones are probably more important. We don't want people posting excessively just so they can post.

Also, some of our real life friends may want to test the game.

Knives101 - March 12, 2005 08:36 AM (GMT)
 why don't you guys just pic the people with experience beta testing games?

GmMontex03 - March 12, 2005 09:00 AM (GMT)
How about everyone submits their system specs and thats how the game beta testers are choses along with tester skills?

hehe...

i dont think anyone knows this...

but wolfpack doesnt have ut2k4 :P

and i dont think he has a graphics card :P

wasnt it Intergrated :D :D :D

Knives101 - March 12, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
 you probably also factor in who has DSLorCable, and who has Dail-up. Unless you feel like sitting there forever waiting for the download to finish.

WolfPack - March 12, 2005 10:45 PM (GMT)
Falcon musta been talking to you Dur... lol. And no, i don't have ut2k4, but trust me, I have ways of getting a copy  I could also head up the modem section

The Mango - March 13, 2005 12:35 AM (GMT)
If they based it on the top ten posters...someone could spam and be a total asswipe and then just leak the beta to everyone >_>

If the beta testers do their job correctly, no you won't. It's not good to freely distribute an unfinished product.

KingH - March 13, 2005 04:09 AM (GMT)
hmm, yeah, I think, someone with a quite SPAM PC(there's a limit of SPAMness^^), should test it, too. To get the information for the minimum system requirements ^^..
I would do that with gratitude.

And yes, there's an easy way to pic the spam posters out, by just klicking on that users "see all replys". but even than I'm against giving it to top ten posters.
Cause what has posting to do with deserving to test it?
And the fact of being someone you can trust, that he doesn't copy it for everyone(not even for ONE) is a big one, isnt it?..

Knives101 - March 13, 2005 09:18 AM (GMT)
 The minimum system requirements should just be whats required to play UT2k4 shouldn't it? I mean ya this'll be a big Big BIG Mod, but still other than MB and estimated download time theres not much required to know before hand.

GmMontex03 - March 13, 2005 09:23 AM (GMT)
Ill still wait for it to download even if it takes all day...heck ill go do something while waiting and when i get it ill play it when im ready.

Knives101 - March 13, 2005 09:28 AM (GMT)
 I've been told it might be half a gig, thats more than a day on dialup I think.

Duranix - March 13, 2005 01:15 PM (GMT)
LOL

umm... k101...

do you seriously think that it will fit on 500mb?

more like 1.5gb minimum...

Modify - March 13, 2005 03:29 PM (GMT)
Thats when Bittorents comes in for the dialup users(I'm guessing)
Also good on Bandwidth if the file gets to be 1.5gp or bigger

I don't see the reason for the top 10 posters to have the beta even if they had ut2k4
It should be experience beta testers (I don't know how to find out if you are or not,
there must be a way <_< )

I don't even have ut2k4
but i have a pretty fast com

Knives - March 13, 2005 04:30 PM (GMT)
The demo, when we release it (and this is quite an estimate) will probably be anywhere from 75-120 MB. The full game (even more of an approximation) will stretch at least into the 600 MB range, it's even likely that it may reach a gig if we put a WHOLE lot in it (like voice acting). Hopefully we can make a BitTorrent version.

lol, it was a try.. :P ..

Chuckles - March 13, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
XD, if it becomes that much of a hassle, I wil do the minimum requirements test! Hell, it'll be a good chance to see if I'll actually be able to run it!

uhm.. but not ONLY bittorent, huh?

Shinrin - March 14, 2005 12:30 AM (GMT)
bittorents can be slow and could take a while to download if there are not alot of people to download from. if it's just a straight download. then it shouldn't take as long, but you gotta be considerate about bandwith tho.

so all in all, its the same none the less.

Knives - March 14, 2005 03:43 AM (GMT)
Actually we don't really have to worry about our site bandwidth...there are countless Unreal file sites that will be more than happy to host for us.

System reqs are in the FAQ, BTW.

KingH - March 14, 2005 04:42 AM (GMT)
uhm.. I don't really have bittorent, but isn't it somethin like kaaza and emule?
IF so, it'll be hard to let the betas at the testers, eh?
