Title: Dude...
Description: This f*ckin' rocks...

Man, I can't say how cool it is to find someone trying to remake CT... IN 3D! COMMERCIAL FREE! Man, this is awesome! CT is literally my favorite game of all time! But anyway...

Perhaps, instead of making a direct CT remake, you could make an online version, OR better yet, an online option, where you can shape the structure of the storyline. I have 56k, and I can't play MMORPGs and I'm DYING to. By the time this game gets done, I'll be in college where I'll have broadband, so I'd LOVE to play an online game of CT.

You could have it set in all the time zones. Like, in 600 AD you could have people choose to be in the Kingdom of Guardia, in the Mystic town of Medina, in Choras, or in the town of Porre, and Guardia, Choras, and Porre are united against the Mystics in war.

Or in 12,000 BC you could have the Enlightened Ones pitted against the Earthbound Ones. 2300 AD, Mother Brain against the last remaining human civilizations. I don't even have to explain the 65,000,000 BC conflict.

Chrono Trigger just has such ripe potential to be an exceptional MMORPG, with a LOT of replay value.

Another point I'd like to bring up: distribution. How are you going to do it? Host it on your site and hope people put it on other sites and share it on file sharing programs? Really, this game would be a few hundred megs, maybe even a gig, possibly two. You could ask Square-Enix (god i hate their joining) to sponsor free CDs at retail stores. But that could be a potentially bad decision, because they'd probably jump on the opportunity to sue you. \:(

What program are you guys using to make the images and game engine? I'd like to tinker around with it, maybe help you guys. All that I'm able to help you with right now is dungeon maps and information, because I have players' guides for the SNES and PS1 versions. I have Flash 5, but I'm not too talented at it and it would be impractical to use that in what you're attempting to make.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help, anything at all, even if it's small. I'd really like to see this project completed. '')

EDIT: Thanks, Rhetoric.

Not that I'm actually on the team, but I do know a little about Invisionfree and I'm afraid legally no one can tell you how to obtain an illegal ROM. They could lose their board for something like that.

MMORPG... no offense... but we discussed this a few times; and it quite frankly... is a HORRIBLE idea. Keep in mind, most MMORPGs are Action Rpgs, meaning that the actual gameplay would be completely different. What we had agreed on, is that there should be a type of "Cooperation mode" in which other people control other characters in the party. We had also found an "arena" would be a good thing to add.

Chrono Trigger is not a game that can be succesfully translated into MMORPG format. It just wouldn't work. Though, allowing some online capability is a definite good idea.

Miyoto - February 9, 2004 11:14 PM (GMT)
I see what you mean. It would stray away from the original gameplay, but if you get over that, you've got to agree it'd be pretty fun. Hmm... conservationalists... Peh! ¬_¬

Oh yeah, something I've been wondering for a LONG time. In the PS1 re-release of CT, WHAT IN THE WORLD happened when Lucca found that baby? Who is that, why are they there? And what was up with that scene where Guardia fell and the Masamune got lost?

Get that and many more answers in....
Unsolved Mysteries!
(tata tatum tata tatum *twilight zone music) :P

Yeah, i would like to know that too, but Square keeps "unregistering" their Chrono TM's...

If it was an MMORPG, it is likely that multiple characters can (and definentally will) be in the same area. Wouldn't it just seem a tad odd if you saw 30 Crono's walking around in the same area? Seriously... it just wouldn't work. Plus, i'm pretty sure that the team had decided on the topic of how the game will be... a long time ago. I doubt it will change, especially into an MMORPG.

I would definentally like to see a new sequal for Chrono Trigger. It seems very odd to me that Square-Enix actually has to consider such an idea. The amount of Chrono Trigger fans are massive, and even today the original is played by many. It'd be nice to see it, and if one ever does come into existance; it better not break my expectations. So what program are they using to make the 3D models? I've always wanted to make 3D stuff, but I HATE how most programs are. The easiest one I've ever come across was Swift 3D, but that's still just too hard.

Probably all the programs that came with Unreal Tournament 2003.

Karma Tools (models)
UPaint (skins)
UnrealEd 3.0 (maps)
Maya (skins, static meshes for maps, etc.)

What? I'm confused. I thought that Unreal Tournament was a First Person Shooter.

Apocalypse - March 1, 2004 10:38 PM (GMT)
I believe this is intended to be a MOD for Unreal, allowing it to be MODified. According to someone, Unreal is a superb engine to make an rpg with... supposedly.

I'm pretty sure they know what their doing, since I have a slight idea of how that would work.

TheBrain - March 2, 2004 08:45 AM (GMT)
Though they are more rare there are a few games that are RPGs and are Uunreal Engine 2 Powered, check all the titles being developed here:Unreal Powered Games
Lineage 2 and Ultima X are two RPGs, being the first massive.

I don't know if you got a full staff or want help or anything, but i'm more than willing to help ( if you need a charecter refference ask someone at the chronicles site, or ask jack, they all know me). Only problem taking me on is i have only a brush incounter with coding ( i'm in calculus, good with cyphers, done a little java) and i would be more like an aprentice, but there is an upside; You see, i'm becoming an electronical engineer, and i have to take c++, and probably some form of java as well. While I wouldn't be able to help right away, i'm a fast learner, and will be coding some day anyways; besides that, i'm a mega CT fan.

Anyways, theirs thats. Its was kinda out of the blue posting it in here, but i didn't see any where else to really post it.

Thanks for listening.

Chosker - March 20, 2004 05:26 PM (GMT)
to make 3D character models you need a 3D modeller program. now, you not only need the program, it takes alot of talent to make even a decent model. over my experience as a 3D modeller I've seen people become good 3D artists as I saw them start from nothing. it just takes time.

now, sorry to be off-topic, but this was asked on the topic...

Actually you don't have to wait for a next Chrono game, as this was answered in Chrono Cross
about guardia falling, I don't remember any of that in Chrono Cross. Then again, it's been a while since I beat that game, and even more since CT

GalaxyFalcon - March 20, 2004 08:05 PM (GMT)
Gurdia falling was compleely over looked, so there really isnt any information about it, wihch sucks.

WolfPack - March 20, 2004 10:05 PM (GMT)
