Title: Schala
Description: playable character

[FONT=Arial]I think it will be fun if we can play with schala, she will take the place of magus as a character.
But we need to do a special thing for active this add-on.
She will have the same attack/magic/tech as magus but she not use the same weapon type, if u take schala, the sickle weapon type change for another weapon type or it can remain the same.

A more appropriate weapon for Shala would probably be a staff. however... I don't like your idea. You're saying to replace one of the most liked characters in Chrono Trigger... with Schala? I haven't played Chrono Trigger for a while (Sadly...) but isn't Schala Magus's sister? I could see playing her as a side quest... to see what happened to her... but getting rid of Magus and playing as Schala seems much too large a change...
Since it is a REMAKE project, the goal is to let the storyline remain as close to that of the original as possible. There can be some things added... I do think having a quest or two where you get to play as Schala would be cool... but not as a main character. It would go a bit too much against the original storyline...
Anyway... since i'm pretty sure I clarified that, i'll give some ideas for Schala. She uses a staff... but not just for beating things with a blunt object. The staff should possibly have some magical aura... perhaps release a random spell (non-healing) upon attacking. Her magic power should be like Magus's... but it is sometimes thought that woman being more "pure" (yea...right) than men; she should have some healing spells. She should just come with equipment you could easily buy from the surrounding area.
You should play her in the following parts:
1.) After Dalton drags her off from Chrono's party (after beating tyranno in prehistoric era).
2.) After She is dragged off (yet again) from you and the guru, Melchoir.
3.) As she is being taken away to power the Mammon Machine.
4.) After she sends Chrono and his Party to safety... as the underwater palace begins to ascend. (after 1st fight with Lavos)
Those seem to be the best parts... in order to fill the storyline. I like the idea of understanding her storyline a little better, by playing small parts as her. B)

In my preview post, i wanted to say that you can do a side quest or whatever to enable a matter to play as schala, but if she will enter in the party, she can take the place of magus, like when you decide to kill magus and he dont come in the party. You have one slot free for another character. If people love to Magus, they juste take magus instead of trying of going the side quest to find schala.
This is just an idea, not more !!!![FONT=Arial]

Now that you clarify a little better what your intent was... it does actually sound like a good idea. I would only see her actually in your party though, if you decided to kill Magus. If you don't decide to slay Magus... she'll just never seem to show up...
So yea... I suppose that could work. The original CT never really clarified if she ever ACTUALLY died. So... if you wanted to pull a few strings, it might be possible to add her as a (LATE) character in the game.

Schala survived, you save her when she is imprisoned in Time Devouror in CC.
The only way that would probally work is if you get her as a playable character when you first enter Zeal, considering she gets imprisoned in Lavos at the first time you encounter him in Zeal. Thats still a good time that you can use Schala as a extra character.
I would see her using alot of healing spells but mabey some white magic ones.
Ill come up with a list of possable spells she could use later.
I also think she would use a staff, but a staff made out of energy? Like a lightsaber but a holdable stuff that has raidating mist coming off of it that she summons at the start of a fight.

ok.... how about this. Schala's actual magic is white healing magic, and attack magic. However... her staff (being made of raw magical energy), will let off a random spell (light or dark). Like Ayla, the weapon will "level up" and will have different attributes. For instance.. her level 1 staff will merely give off a random spell that inflicts minor damage (such as lightning, fire, ice... etc). Her staff while in the second level should give off stronger spells... (lightning2, fire2, ice2...etc). While in the third stage she basically has (most of) Magus's spells in her staff... including a few white magic attacks.
Keep in mind, the spells are supposed to be random, but even then... it would be too powerful if she got a spell EVERY time she attacked... so... give it a 50% chance of doing a random spell.
I think that seems like a pretty good way of doing it...

But how much time do you really use schala? You don't get her for very long so that leveling staff would be kind of a waise, I was thinking you could get her for a pure novlity, and I suppose she would be quite good at healing and white magic.

If u dont take Magus as a party member, u will be able to go search schala right after u kill magus.
Jack - December 9, 2003 03:37 AM (GMT)
Well see thats a problem, by then Schala is imprisoned inside of Lavos, it would cause a big story problem.
Oh and those 'guest' posts were me.

When u go save Crono, if u have done the side quets, u will be able to save schala at the same time.
Some1 have other idea ?
Apocalypse - December 9, 2003 10:42 PM (GMT)
Technically... that could work. You could save her if you go back for Crono. However, what would you replace her body with? there isn't exactly any Schala dolls anywhere...
Furthermore... the disturbance to the storyline would be quite large. Because of this, it is best to play her as a temporary character. As for my staff idea working... yes, I see your point... but I had a different intention in mind. When you play as Schala she will be of different levels... and have these different staffs with varying strengths. Keep in mind, while you play as her... you will not have a party. it will ONLY BE YOU (Schala). Because of this... she has to have these varying abilities to survive on her own.
As an example... the first time you play as her, you will have the level 1 staff, the second time; you will have the level 2 staff. Obviously the third time (and those above that) she will have the level 3 staff. If anything, that is a basic example of how I picture her abilities being unlocked.

head over to www.chronocompendium.com if you want to learn about the storylines of CT and CC and how they are interrelated. if you want to see if your ideas contradict the story, the people there can tell you (and these people have studied CT and CC and RD like it ain't no thing :D ). you can also look at their theories about the things that have gone unexplained in the Chrono series (i.e. where did the rainbow shell come from, why did guardia fall, etc...)
i highly suggest you check it out.

Play only as her? Hmm, I was thinking more along the lines of playing her with the party for a short amout of time.
Oh, and it wouldent work if you saved schala, then there would be no CC...
Voodoo 666 - December 12, 2003 03:12 AM (GMT)
Where go the black omen when u kill Zeal ???
Apocalypse - December 19, 2003 11:25 PM (GMT)
Hmmmm... Schala seems like more of a "loner", but then again... I suppose the same can be said of Magus. I intend to play her alone because she pretty much IS in fact alone in many parts. Keep in mind, she is always getting taken somewhere. She never really interacts with Crono's party (despite the few small moments you may talk to her.)
If anything, the only moment she should be in your party in your first fight with Lavos. Other than that... I don't see her being in your party. She is just seperated WAY too much to be a big-time playable character. Give her a few moments to play, but other than that... let her remain outside of your party.
Oh yes, and... Voodoo 666, I believe (in understandable English) that your question was: "Where did the Black Omen go after you kill Zeal???"
To tell you the truth... I don't really remember myself. Perhaps I just didn't notice what happened (if it did really show it). My theory is that it either fell back into the oceans from whence it came. Another idea is that it may have teleported into Lavos's little dimension itself. Though, I can't really be sure of either.
