Title: some random stuff
Description: whatever happened to be in my tiny brain

Long time no see... well... actually, sort of. I've been around checking on updates... just haven't posted for a while. I uh... still don't think I know enough C++ to help programming in this game, but... I think I may know a few people who can help graphic-wise. They work with photoshop and all that junk... as well as were thinking of making some 3d game in the near future. As for me, my 2D game is coming along... with a storyline that makes no sense (I still don't have a name for it, though).

Anyway, on to the random ideas for the Chrono Trigger Remake Project:
(Keep in mind, these really are, RANDOM ideas.)

1.) A mini game in which Crono's mom chases the cat. Once caught, she'll throw it at Crono (causing hp loss) the next time he enters his house. If she does not catch the cat, the next time you come to your house; your cat will suddenly come up to you with a rare item in it's mouth (problem is, if the item is big... It wouldn't look right if the cat dragged it over to Crono.) Of course, you play as the running cat.

2.) A sort of time system. Such as, just simply night and day (these will reset when you enter a new time.) At different times, people are in different places and will likely say some different things.

3.) The ability to Dual wield swords (with a special item). Rapid fire for people who have more... gun-like weapons (2 shots per turn rather than 1). For magus... the ability to cast two spells in one turn.

4.) The game can be played (in the beginning) from other character's point of view. For example, you can start the game as Magus... Frog, Marle, Lucca, Robo, and of course, Crono. (This would probably be a little hard to implement.)

Anyway, feel free to post more random ideas... or to laugh at my ideas. :D

Wow, these are really good ideas, i'll try to remember to not forget this when we reach the part of including extra stuff.
Besides the night and day cycle i never thought on the others... great work Apocalypse!

Hey people, this is the type of ideas that we're looking for, ideas that don't change the story or the gameplay radicaly but add replayability to the game...

And remember the more activity there is on the forum the better the game will be...

Great ideas!

1: Yeah that cat game sounds really fun :)

2: Great idea, like how Zelda 64 Majoras Mask worked.

3: I had the same idea too, at least for the swords, or just make more shots for each gun character. I will talk about my Lode Sword idea in a second.

4: Uh, this one seems pretty hard to imlement, but if you are talking about just play the parts where your character (frog for example) plays then yeah, that woulden't be to bad to imlement and would be fun.

---

Now my idea, I talked about this a little before but not in much depth.

The Lode Sword is defently one of the most important swords in the game, considering it is in all origional Chrono Art and Crono seems to have a certin bond with it, I was thinking that Crono always has 2 Swords, your one current cool sword and the Lode Sword.
My reason for this is that for spells/special moves/movies it would be much better to have a consistant sword that chrono uses for special things for the sake of saving time and consistant look.
I was thinking that Spekko would tell Crono (just a one-liner, nothing to change any story) that the Lode sword is a special sword that chrono bonded with emotionly, mabey becacsue he slayed his first boss with it (the Mechinical Dragon). This would make him always carry his Lode Sword and his Current sword.
So for say, Spire, the attack where chrono plants his sword in a enemy and strikes it with lighting, he would use the Lode sword for the attack istead of his current weapon that may look wierd.
Thats another reason for this, the Lode Sword is a very old and triditional sword, the standard of a Saber for the time, in some situations it would look better than a funky demonic special sword.

Here is a picture of Chrono with 2 swords, See how that Lode Sword is a nice looking standard sword, where as the one he uses for normal attacks is on his back.

Wow... random ideas ARE good! Who would have thought that possible...

The problem with the lack of ideas probably is because people had thought you were adding more storyline, when in fact; you just want some mini games and a few other things to add to replayability. I like my fourth idea the best, though... it would definentally be the hardest to create. Now that I think about it, it gives the game a sort of... Seikun Densetsu 3 feel to it.

For the fourth idea, I meant that in the beginning you start off with a certain character and use them as your main character in part one(?) of the game. Later in the game, however; the storyline is pretty much the same on any character. For example, if you decided to start off as Magus, the game would begin with you as a child in his time and progress from there. As frog you would start around 600 A.D. shortly before your quest to fight Magus with Cyrus...etc.

Dual wielding is nice... but probably shouldn't be around until later in the game. I can only imagine some little blue imp getting chopped up and shot at 2 times in a row...

The Mom chase Cat mini game... actually does sound fun, now that I think about it. It does go along with the plot, since she always chases that cat  .

There will be New Game + in this, correct? If it is a remake it has to have that. Considering it probably will... take this into consideration. With the ability to start the game with any of the characters, it should also be possible with New Game +. Think of it this way, you just beat the game with Chrono's storyline, now you have to choices. To play with a different character on the mere new game, or on new game +. I think this could add quite alot of replayability. but also keep in mind, it will add a lot of hard work... if used.

I like the Lode sword idea but... the Lode sword isn't particularly powerful. If everyone else got to dual wield (with two powerful weapons), Crono will have less attack power. If it is to be done, perhaps there should be some way to increase the power of the Lode sword. The idea I have would be for each boss slain with the Lode sword, a certain amount of attack power should be added (pretty small amounts) to the Lode Sword's attack power.

That way, everyone's happy (we can't have the main character weak, now can we?) :D

Doing the entire game will give us a lot of work, so anything after that is just a breeze ;), what we need is ideas, manpower and resources.
So keep it going... let your ideas flow and write them here...
Again, any idea is going to be fully credited, this is a fan game for the fans, we're doing this for fun because we love this game.

Also, advertising might help the team getting bigger and getting more talented people, with more people we can deliver this quicker...

I have to admit, I've only told one or two people about this... I suppose it wouldn't exactly hurt to tell a few people. But... how exactly do you want us to "Advertise" as you say? It would be fairly easy for someone with a website (post a link), but... for someone without one... it just wouldn't work. also, it would be a little odd to run into some chat room and say something along the lines of "You like Chrono Trigger? Then visit The Chrono Trigger remake homepage!". When I did have a site, I noticed a good way to advertise your site is to have some popular "parent" site have your link on it (saying something such as "this site is cool!"), then... in exchange have a link to their site on a section of your site called "Links".

You also would want to register your site on tons of search engines... as well as register on a few top 100's. I'm not really sure on what you're into though... so it's really based alot upon your decision. I play games online quite often... I suppose I could mention it to some friends who show interest...

I do know a few people who could help with the project itself... but am unsure on whether or not they'd be interested. Some of them are even working on other projects... so I wouldn't count on the people I know. <_<

Cool... fully credited? does that mean I get my name written in size 8 font in Japanese on some cereal box in Crono's kitchen cabinet? I have to admit, that sounds pretty cool. I think that might get a few people to give a few ideas, actually. ;)

The only problem I can sense is... the lack of activity on this forum. You were right when you said advertising was needed. I mean... it's likely there will be no ideas if there are no members. Other than what was mentioned earlier, I can't think of much to help this problem.

Anyway... off topic... wouldn't it seem more logical if this was in the "Ideas" section of the forum? I've been here for quite a while, and haven't even noticed it existed... (i'm pretty slow...)

We have an ideas section?
All the ideas are good, I like the 4th one the most. It might be a little harder to do then the other ones, but it makes it way more replayable. I also think we should add more choices in the game so that you control more of whats happening. Heres a (bad) example: in the beginning at the racing part you can chose not to race (who would chose that?!) but you have to go thru the ruins (i.e. a maze) full of monsters and those annoying rat thingys that steal your stuff to get out of that lab place. OK, maybe not that but like more choices in the game.
