Title: Classic Rpgs

Nickdude - October 22, 2003 11:41 PM (GMT)
Well since this forum thread has barely any posts (And because I made all of the topics :P) I thought maybe we can talk about those classic rpgs that you dont here about anymore. Because I think that classical rpgs are the best, specially ff3/6 for SNES.

I havent played the old NES very much but I really liked Dragon Warrior 3, (I only played it for gbc so I dont know if anything's changed) even though it had that 1st person type battle system it was still fun, it made you take in what all the villagers said, so you can figure out what to do, instead of just giving it all to you.

Very challeging!

Haven't anyone noticed that recently the console-RPG's seem a little shallow? I have more fun replaying CT, CC, FFVII, etc. than playing FFX, i mean it was indeed a great rpg with awesome graphics but it's missing something, a little inovation perhaps... they now seem to be assembled in a factory assembly line...
CT was the real thing...

it seams now with the newer rpgs they are trying to make it have the best graphics and becaouse of that not spending nearly enogh time on the story. like with CT and all the other SNES RPGS they had shitty grapohics and there wasnt much they could so to make it better s they would work on the storyline insted.

I give u guys mad props for doing this good luck on it. B)

Dose anybody know where I can get FF 3 for zsnes? :ph43r:

Nickdude - January 3, 2004 01:30 AM (GMT)
Uh sure, just search up Final Fantasy VI rom SNES on google, dont go to any of the sites repeat stuff too much, look for one that has in the descrpition Final Fantasy VI.zip or something like that, if you still can't find it let me now.

I think nintendo should bring CT and FF3 both out on gameboy advance - i'd buy both of them in a second if i had the cash.

Believe it or not, I hear that if you get enough people so sign a petition... you could get nintendo to rerelease just about ANY game you want. I've actually seen something like that happening for SMRPG. Though, I'd be happier if the more-famous rpgs were rereleased (though SMRPG wasn't THAT bad either.)

In most cases, many people agree to these as the top 3 rpgs made for the snes:

- Final Fantasy 3
- Chrono Trigger
- Seikun Densetsu 3

secret of mana falls at a close 4th, when compared to it's sequel... Seikun Densetsu 3. Great games man.... good times... good times... *sigh* B)

wow....if that's true we should really start a petition B)

and also i just picked up star ocean 2 for 10 bucks and i would recommend it to anyone! It's a really great game. Almost as good as the oldies...but no new game can touch those... ;)

 It seems like the newer Rpgs are more geared more to kids, with a bit of a love story for the elderly. I personally like FF9 and think it was the last great Rpg made, FFX had a good battle system, even though it got a little cheap on the enemys sometimes. The tales series hasn't for me been good since the first, same goes for the Wild arms series, which I wish they'ed bring the remake to the US.

if they made chrono trigger for gba, id have to go get a gba lol :P

Why aren't we all signing a petition to have Square-Enix release a new CT Game?

The new rpgs are pretty good, since I'm a sucker for RPGs (even though I suck AT them) methinks I shall buy a ps2.. I haven't played the .hack series, but I've heard it quite good. Final Fantasy is slipping i storyline, so they try to make up for it with Graphics.
Off topic here, (of course) but I've always been facinated by Dark Cloud, yet never played it, I heard it had to do with Time Travel (which is why I'm interested in it) but I've found out its sort of more like a high-tech sim city game?¿?

Knives101 - September 1, 2004 05:14 AM (GMT)
 The story for .hack was alright, but the game play got way repiditve after four games(hell I stopped after the second), and not much new to each game either.

As for Dark cloud, I've played and nearly beaten the first... it didn't really have anything to do with time travel, actually it had nothing to do with it, it was a.... alright game, you could find better. Infact I've heard dark cloud 2 is a great game, I've only played the demo though, but you should definitly check that one out.

N... n-no time travel? ARGHHHHHHHHHH  :(

old rpgs? that'd have to b dune and the old larry games and the monkey island saga. Those are great rpgs even though I'm not sure how far we can call it rpgs :P Anyway, those are my fav rpgs ever or at least the ones I had more fun with.
And I learned english playing Dune.

WolfPack - November 6, 2004 04:54 AM (GMT)
Its all the old rpgs that are the best. That basicly means any rpg on the snes beats anything on the new systems. Its a really ugly thought that we may never see another story-based rpg.

Apocalypse - November 7, 2004 05:14 AM (GMT)
Ugh... a truly sickening thing indeed. Not all newer Rpgs are bad, but even the better ones lack the "feel" that the older ones had. There is less storyline, less feeling... and more graphics. In the long run, graphics won't make too much of a difference... <_<

relmatos - November 8, 2004 01:06 AM (GMT)
check Planescape Torment. I just loved it's story and their graphics are ok.

That's why I hate FF. they have good graphics but the story is always too linear and lacks depth.

Chuckles - November 8, 2004 03:20 AM (GMT)
Sweet Home... Survival Horror RPG at it's finest. And yeah, you cold say teh game was graphic... I mean... ughhh.... has good graphics!

Knives - November 8, 2004 08:48 PM (GMT)
I dunno, dude...FFIX sure did kick some booty...as well as VII...and everything else not made by the VIII and X people...

WolfPack - November 13, 2004 03:53 AM (GMT)
Ok, there are a few exceptions. Like FF7, FF9, Golden Sun/Golden Sun 2, and Tales Of Phantasia. Thats about it though. If you want to push it, you can throw in Star Ocean and Legned of Dragoon.
