Title: *Changes to the game
Description: I'm sure this was in another post but...
Bedryn - August 16, 2004 03:00 AM (GMT)
I know a lot of people will disagree, but I think the game should include Frog transforming back to Glenn. I think that if you fight Magus instead of getting him as a character, glenn should change back. By avenging Cyrus, glenn would be set free from his curse.
If you don't get Magus there needs to be compensation of some sort. Magus is one of the best characters. What does anyone else think?
Knives101 - August 16, 2004 04:06 AM (GMT)
 Glenn does change back in the ending if you fight magus.... do you mean glenns form to be playable...
Galidan - August 16, 2004 05:01 AM (GMT)
I'm pretty certain he means that.
/Galidan
Bedryn - August 18, 2004 05:25 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I mean so you can play with him. But he has to look cool, not like the glenn sprite in the original Crono Trigger. He looked kinda wimpy.
Bedryn - August 18, 2004 05:59 AM (GMT)
I also think that when you go to switch out the Crono doll with the real Crono, you should somehow be able to get a doll of Schala and switch her out too. And she could be another character. Then there could be a girl character that doesn't suck.
But you should only be able to get her if you choose to have magus join you. Then when you get the Crono doll, Magus could ask for a schala doll too... and then you do the ol' switcheroo. This could be for the New Game + mode, so that it doesn't change the original game too much.
Knives101 - August 18, 2004 09:50 PM (GMT)
 Girl character that sucks... .. what you talk'n about, Ayla has the strongest attack in the game if you get her to double star and put a prismspec on her her critical will do 9999, marle is the healer straight up but if you combine her with Lucca thier anitpode attacks are some of the strongest magic attacks period. Lucca is a random damage character so her strength doesn't matter a lot, but her magic can pack a wallop if you work on it enough.
Alezunde - August 19, 2004 12:14 AM (GMT)
The Glenn idea is a slight possibility.
The Schala doll will probably never happen.
The reasons are that this is a remake of the original game - a clone, only in 3D.
This isn't an opportunity to incorporate a lot of ideas.
-Alezunde
TheBrain - August 19, 2004 02:13 AM (GMT)
And the remake is prioritary.
Bedryn - August 19, 2004 06:21 AM (GMT)
You are right Knives101, Ayla is pretty good. And she can charm enemies to get great items. But I hate Marle. She is weak and useless. I like lucca a bit better, but both her magic and attack are not great. But that is just my opinion.
It doesn't seem to be a lot of extra work to do the Schala thing, and it could be for just the New Game +. But I'm not making the game so what I think doesn't really matter. It was just an idea. But at least there is a chance for the Glenn idea, right...?
propagator4 - August 19, 2004 08:11 AM (GMT)
Marle useless? Hardly. Her single ally healing is incredible. When you have her on double star her cure spell restores 999 HP, for only 2 MP. I'd call that a good trade. Then there is Life 2, for a mere 15 MP instead of the more common 20 MP for a character's strongest tech. Plus, her final weapon, the Siren, has a useful effect of very frequently casting stop on your enemies. Or, if you choose, you can simply cast Haste on your party, which is affordable at only 6 MP. Then there are the double and triple techs. Away-Knives already mentioned the Antipodes, however, the Ice Swords are very handy, as are Glacier and Cube Toss. Double Cure heals all party members completely, and removes all negative status effects, costing her only 5 MP (Cure Touch with Robo has a similar effect, but does not remove status abnormalities). And don't forget Life Line, a 3 person auto-life, and Delta Force would be impossible without her contribution. I'm guessing you already knew most of this, but it sounded like you needed a reminder. I mean come on man, how can you have an RPG without a designated healer?
Trigun - August 19, 2004 08:48 AM (GMT)
I think we should add something that made final fantasy 7,8 and somewhat 9 great and replayable. Stupidly hard secret bosses (Ruby, Emerald weapons) and stupidly hard to get items (Knights of the round, W-item) and asortment of hidden cretures (Magic pots) and breeding chocobos are cool, but anyway your remaking it so theres no changes i think, i started making my first couple of maps, WOOT.
Cheers Trigun
Knives - August 19, 2004 12:09 PM (GMT)
I think Marle is awesome. Her healing techs rock and Arc Impulse=teh pWN.
Bedryn - August 19, 2004 07:08 PM (GMT)
I just don't like her ok <_< . There are other characters that can heal, maybe not as well, but for the way that I play the game she is not useful. I never have liked her and I never will. It does no good to try and convince me. Once your characters are at ** a fight rarely lasts more than a couple rounds, so healing is not really a priority. I can see using her on Lavos, but that is it. I agree that you need a character like her in any game, but I still don't like her.

 I thought the valkery was her final weapon, isn't it the upgrade to the siren or do I have the two mixed up?
Bedryns just stubborn, but he is intitled to his opion on the characters. Though I'd have to say marles best attribute isn't her healing its her double and triple techs that she has.
Alezunde - August 20, 2004 08:57 PM (GMT)
The nice thing about the Chrono Trigger battle system is that your choice of party members is not how cool or good each individual character is, but their selection of double and triple techs with your current part members.
No character sucks, as long as you use them in combination with the right characters.
-Alezunde
Bedryn - August 21, 2004 09:49 PM (GMT)
Thats very true. They need to work together to be better than any individual character can be. I wish Magus could have some duel techs and some non-item triple techs... If only there was a remake project, perhaps in 3d, that could add something minor yet really cool to the game like that... hmmm...
TheBrain - August 22, 2004 03:01 AM (GMT)
Mmm, why there isn't a project like that....WHY???? ;)
Apocalypse - August 22, 2004 01:31 PM (GMT)
I just found that other post particularly... hilarious.
I'm pretty sure we did (at some point) discuss Magus double and triple techs. The project is a remake, but it is also renewing the game to make it interesting to even those who have played the older game for so many years. There will likely be minor updates that add only to what the game originally had.
As for Schala... we talked about playing as her temporarily. This is merely just to get more of her story though... and may not even be added (for all I know).

Bedryn - August 23, 2004 05:56 PM (GMT)
So there is talk of including dual and triple techs for Magus?
Bedryn - August 23, 2004 07:15 PM (GMT)
IDEA FOR THE MAGUS STATUE:
WolfPack: I still think there should be some kinda of back story of magus related to it or something like that.
Crono.X: yea that sounds like a good idea
WolfPack: Like maybe his diary hidden in the statue or something and you have to have him in the party to get it.
Bedryn: And then what? You just get the diary or should it do something cool like raise his stats or give him a new Tech?
WolfPack: You should read it. Read on his life before he got thrown out of zeal, and life after he arrived in 600ad. Then ya, he should get some special item or tech or something. And it should be a long reading, no short one page thing, and you can read it when ever you want.
Bedryn: That would be kinda neat. A 600 page biography or something. You should get a better ultimate weapon I think. I don't remember what his was, but if I remember correctly it wasn't that good.
WolfPack: Ya it was ok, just no where near as good as the rainbow or masamune. And if it is a weapon or upgrade, or some new magic, it should seriously raise his stats. I really like the idea of a 600 page mini book in the game, that would be just be too cool. And i got the perfect person in mind to write it - Gurdian of Ages.
Bedryn: Purhaps someone should post this under the ideas section.
WolfPack: Or get brain to move it.
Bedryn: I'll post it under the Changes to The Game topic I started.
Crono.X - August 23, 2004 09:07 PM (GMT)
Sweet did yea see it.?!?!?!
i was in the post with out posting  :D
Knives101 - August 23, 2004 09:43 PM (GMT)
 There was a post way back called technical techs where we would post tech ideas you guys could probably post stuff like this there. ;)
Bedryn - August 23, 2004 09:57 PM (GMT)
I looked for a topic called Technical Techs, but couln't find it. Maybe it got erased or I am just too dumb to find it.
Knives101 - August 23, 2004 09:59 PM (GMT)
 ya have to find the option that will ask if you want the threads from 30days ago 90days and so on I believe its at he top of the thread list... or right at the bottom.

Apocalypse - August 23, 2004 11:37 PM (GMT)
Correct... we discussed many new techniques for characters in that particular thread. We did talk alot about allowing Magus to have dual/triple techs. I believe the conclusion was to allow Magus to have dual/triple techs with those he respected. In other words... it seemed as though Crono would definentally be in on a dual tech. For a triple tech; we thought it would seem reasonable if Robo was the third person. Of course... I might have forgotten a few things of that discussion, but I believe that was the more-important part of the discussion. It is all recorded somewhere on these forums... you'll just have to look through our insanely large archives. ;)
WolfPack - August 24, 2004 03:08 AM (GMT)
Insainly is too small a word.

Good idea! it would be awesome if you could even play glenn in the fashback sequences and have cyrus on your team

 ok I just found out about this remake project and I love Chrono Trigger but only played it twice and never got to really beat it (darn earsable games) but I thought you could play Schala. My friend owns the SNES version and has beaten it about 50 times and he said that if your beat that one guy that you don't have to beat in the Dark Ages(yes I know so specific) then you get Schala. But maybe im just dumb.
Dark Hat - September 26, 2004 11:40 PM (GMT)
(I seriously know I'm off topic because I've barely read the first page but...)
"For a mer 15 mp..." When ever I battle a boss (especially lavos) I always equipe a gold stud to all my characters, making 20 mp attacks brought down to 5 mp :D
BrownMan - September 27, 2004 05:02 PM (GMT)
in most RPG people make girls weak. I mean, common. A girl can seriously kick a developers butt ;) . Anyone play Sudeki? the BUki character is STRONG. but the other girl, ailish, is like 20 times weaker than the other chars.

Actually, normally they take it to the aspect where the female characters are low in strength in defense, but have a distinct magic ability; the healers and spell casters are very often female characters rather than male. Ayla is one of the very few exceptions to this, though. There aren't as many RPGS where the female characters are obviously much weaker overall; otherwise the developers are just stupid.
Dark Hat - September 29, 2004 09:15 PM (GMT)
(Final Fantasy X-2) Hmm. Has anyone noticed that nobody in an RPG is ever truely "ugly"?
VicksCornatto - September 29, 2004 09:51 PM (GMT)
The glenn idea is a great one! The shala idea... well.... Though it would totaly rock using her magic abilities... it doesn't work in the story line to do that, first off... second... your gona destroy the story lines of a ton of fan fiction stories... wich'll make the authers quite mad... heh. See the thing is... you don't know if shala dies there or not. at the end, you see magus searching for shalla... most of us assumed his search would be in vain... ahhh..... what ever the case, it's not a great idea to put a huge plot twist in there... (however... at the end of this project, I dought we'll all just sit on our buts and say to ourselfs... what a good job we did...... not sure.. .maybe we should take a fan fic and use our allready created 3d maps and cherictors and make a sequal... gah... I'm sure I'll have a ton of people dissagreeing with me on this... but.... no worries :) )
Penguin Knight - September 30, 2004 11:23 PM (GMT)
Well in Radical Dreamers Schala comes back. But it is the reincarnated version of Schala which is Kid. But of course Radical Dreamers only came out in Japan
Dark Hat - October 1, 2004 02:22 AM (GMT)
Then again, Schala merged with Lavos to create the Time-Devouror....
