Title: difficulty
Description: harder I hope
xeno - July 10, 2004 07:21 PM (GMT)
now, I havn't beaten chrono trigger.. but I have played 7/8 hours of it and.. it's incredibly easy.
perhaps it's because it's rather easy to revive and heal your characters (waiting for 2 bars to be filled, 1 revive 1 heals), perhaps it's because you get items from most / a lot of battles, perhaps because useful items are sold very cheap in the store (I have never had to worry about money in this game), perhaps it's because the enemy's seem way to weak hp/off/def wise (speed is, imo, ok for the most part)..
Addressing these issues would make this remake an awesome game gameplay wise (not just story / atmospheric)

or is there a certain point in the game where it all of a sudden gets really hard?
I am not motivated to find out heh, I feel like I'm just following a storyline, as if I'm reading a novel..

CT is a fairly easy game, however at the very end and during the side quests it becomes VERY hard.
I don't know if difficulty is something the team has considered, if they have then I haven't been in on the discussion. It's an interesting idea though, perhaps we could have multiple difficulty settings?

Yeah that would be pretty cool. :D

that would be really hard to do im guessing. Because, theyd have to go through the whole game for every diffivulty setting they want and change hps and stuff. would take a long time, unless they do it some other way

 Still It'd be cool to make it a little harder..... I love nailbiter games..

If you were to make it harder, the enemies would probably be the only thing that change though, unless you add more to the puzzles.

CT is my favourite game of all times ,but i think it was rather easy too.
You guys think that you can re-make a little longer than its original version?just an idea (If you could do something about the Masamune beeing a Katana as it SHOULD have been on CT , would be awesome)
Just sometideas to considerthough
;)
Keep up the good work allof ya

or whenever a battle loads, all enemy's gain a +%hp
based on difficulty
easy it's 0, normal it's +50, hard +75 or something..
and the revive system is kinda.. cheap imo

unless you give that to the enemy

I would be unfair to make the game harder to the people who like it the way it is, most likely if we find a way to do it quickley we will have a hard mode.

Whats wrong with reading a novel. I happen to like a good book, and if i get some game play with it, that makes it better. Kinda like living the book, or playing the book.

Chrono Trigger isn't a particularly hard game - especially if you're a die-hard RPG fan.
There are a few bosses that will give you plenty of trouble if you're not prepared for them, but aside from that, the game is pretty easy.
But that doesn't keep Chrono Trigger from being one of the best RPGs to grace a console. :)
(It also has the most fun RPG battle system I've ever played in an RPG.)

I really don't think that a difficulty system is needed, i didn't see any rpg's have one, and a game like Chrono Trigger certainly doesn't need any gameplay changes...

The only thing I think should have been harder - is new game +
I think enemys should be a little more pwerful at new game + - it would be more challenging, besides that, I think it's ok
firestarterut - August 13, 2004 06:09 AM (GMT)
That's what new game + is about so you can settle down and have fun whooping your enemys.

And to get your characters stats insanely and uselessly high.

A good idea would be to add an option in the Newgame + that addes a lvl of dificulty. nothing like new puzzels or anything like that just buffed Ac/Hp stats somthing that is a slight mod instead of somthing massive. Just and Idea though

How easy is Chrono Trigger? I will tell you. I'm a sucker for rpgs, even though I suck AT them. Chrono Trigger was the first, and so far the only RPG I have ever beaten.
(Dammit I keep being off topic because I only read the first page.. sry folks)
Penguin Knight - September 29, 2004 03:00 AM (GMT)
I don't think that Chrono Trigger needs a difficulty system. I mean at first it is easy but that is because you are getting to know the game and then latter on it gets hard. But what I think would be cool is if after you beat the game it would open up an option to do any boss battle you would like. Because as much fun as CT was I found the Boss battles to be the funniest of all. In most RPG's I play I find the boss battles to be irritating and annoying because they are to easy or take to freakin long. But the Boss battles in CT were short and sweet (Well some of them <_< ) but even if they were long they were still fun.

Only hard part (for me) was when I had to verse Magus for the first time. I had to keep fighting enemies until Crono learns Lighting 2 (the only way I can beat Magus)
