Negus - January 27, 2006 03:00 AM (GMT)
Seen! Let's get this thing rolling, brethren! Alright, I gotta admit, I ain't good with tricknology, seen? But I'm a writer, and for what it's worth I could always contribute to the storyline. Also, since I'm deeply immersed in history, theology, mythology, philosophy, etymology, etc. I could always help provide deeper meanings and insights for the game's story, seen? I'll always be happy to help! I and I shall stand together...
Now, I think we call ourselves a new name....'Formerly the CTRP' :D
BrownMan - January 27, 2006 04:09 AM (GMT)

Damn dudes. Gotta make this fast. Wrote a letter for wolf for him to post for me, but gee, im at his dorm so ill do it myself. Heres from my letter:
Alright. Wolfie approached me over the phone and said you guys were doing a new game. Cool. He said im down for story along with art, along with, uh crabsmasher. Well anyway so here i am. Forgive me guys if i have my concepts about what your doing here off or anything. This story is taken from an idea i had but never used for anything. As i write im looking into the screen of a 98` Emachine looking at a .txt, trasnfering it from data to paper. without internet or a CD burnerm i gotta do it by hand, and let wolfie type it out. gee what are siblings for? eh?
Allright well coresponding will be slow just let wolf lety me know what u think.
From here on out i will be quoting from my .txt file on my screen here. my fingers are already tired from writing.
(and ) will be personal interjections into the letter.
///Introduction
The story takes place on a stormy continent. There are two warring factions those of Darkness and of Light (I didn't get around to naming them). On the eastern shore of the continent there are ruins of a city called Alerzion, long abandoned. Rumoured to lie within the crubling city of light is a portal leading to the land of Valhalla.
(Which i was actually going to make another planet.)
---
The Backstory
About 10,000 years before the story actually begins, there was a great war. The Dark Forces came from thier portal seeking power. The forces of darkness ravaged the land and all ran in terror from thier might. On this continet, there were 10 crystals harnessing the energy of nature. The armies of darkness sought these crystals and thier powers. The Dark Forces wer eled by one who simply claimed to be the Dark Lord the races thouught of these terrible beings as demons from the afterworld. (Which the arnt)
The Dark Lord killled all without mercy and sought the power of the crystals,, for which he had come. Obtaining 3 crystals easily the dark lord grew very powerfull- and confident.
Unexcpecdaldy, a portal opened in the city of light, and the light warriors, calling themselves the seriph, came forth. Having "feathered wings of light" the races, especially the elves, believed them to have come from "Valhalla" to rescue the world.
The Seriph fought the Dark Lord and his armies, trying to keep him from absorbing thier power. The seriph obtained 3 of the crystals and sent them through their portal.
The Dark Lord relealized the Seriph were taking away his sought for power, and he went more insane than before.
A war of about 6 years broke out, and neither side obtained any more crystals. The War escalated near the end. While battling for 2 of the crystals, the shattered in the conflict. During the ensueing blast, the Dark Lord was hir, and the seriph took the chance to seal him away. (In a rock, or in a a stasis pod, or something like that.)
The seriph were the only real power left. The Dark Lords contiental rampage destroyed most everyone and everything.
For about 6 months, the seriph helped clean up to postwar mess, then decided what they would do with the remaining civilizations, and the last 2 crystals.
High atop a rocky mountain, covered with forests, were the Sol'oa, or Mountian Elves. the Sol'oa agree to watch over one of the crystals and keep it safe.
Nearly on the other side of the continent, a tribe clan called the Timanal were entrusted by the Seriph to watch the 2nd crystal. (The Termanal we a bunch of half bread and cross, mixed breeds of various races.)
A short time later, the seriph reurned to thier city of light, Alerzion, and mysteriously vanished.
Things settel down. All is forgotten.
---
Present
Something no one knew was that the crystals had a contaiminating power. In the 10,000 years the crystals were left, things changed. The elven mountian became a snowy, wind-blasted wasteland, and the Sol'oa became over time, Dark Elves.
The Timanal, with thier mixed blood, were also mutated, The Timanal now were a bunch of mutants. (They might be pictured like Demi-Humans in Chrono Cross.)
So the Timanal are really screwed up physically. They're Still really nice and hospitable.
Now, Somehow, I didn't get this far, the Dark Lord is freed from his stasis and raises up a whole army of monsters and beasts. Unfornantly for him, the can't reach the Sol'oa crystal because his army of monsters fear the snowy-mountian with a passion.
So instead he goes to the Timanal village.
Promising them eternal life, the Dark Lord exchanges for the crystal. The foolish Timnal eagerly await thier reward. Absorbing the 4th crystal, the Dark Lord kills all the Timnal. Keeping his promise, the Dark Lord encases the Timanal's souls in metal bodies.
These are the Neo-Timanal.
They still retain their counciouness, but most do anything the Dark Lord commands.
The Neo-Timanal are very strong and never tire, and don't die Naturally. The Neo-Timanal make up a sizable portion of the Dark Lords army
---
Present - Spoilers!
Not all the Seriph left. Some still live, having maintained thier lives with thier technology. So there will be some Seriph.
---
Character!
Loran, the Protagist, resides in the High Elven city of C'hotat. Disturbed by the increasing orc activity, and siting of undead, Loran sets out and soon finds the fate of the world on his shoulders.
---
conclusions!
The story is rather incomplete. My friend ended up not needing it, so I stoped writing. There are alot of hole in the story and is kind of scetchy as to what Lorans journey should intail.
It has structur, though, so you might want to use it.
There needs to be some work still but with this and the race data it should help you out, take care!
~GalaxyFalcon
Thats all thats typed in the .txt file i wrote. The .txt for a mod Durnix, I belive, was doing for half-life. He didn't use it, so twice now i've submited this idea and had it either canceld or turned down.
Well, there should be enough here if you want to use this..
The ended up being a combo of Seiken Densetsu 3, War Craft III, and Stargate, and a whole bunch of stuff. Actually, I wote thie before I played WC III, but yeah. Ok well this is long enough , hope someone likes the idea.

(Last 7 pages typed by WolfPack, due to Falcons absence)
WolfPack - January 27, 2006 04:38 AM (GMT)
Damn dude, I said sign up, not write a book. <_<
Oh well, gives us something to think about. I think we were looking for a fresh storyline though, not recycle - but whatever the rest of the team wants i guess is cool.
Stargazer - January 27, 2006 05:00 AM (GMT)
I kinda want to break away from the stereotypical "orcs" and "elves" for this game, I think some more original creatures would add a little more to it. How about something like...A race of fish-like creatures (like mer-men, almost), and a race of Snake-ish things? You could almost make an equation out of it:
X + Y + War = Story
Where X equals one race, and Y equals a different race. Everyone should post their ideas on modifying anything, and we can all agree on it.
WolfPack - January 27, 2006 05:59 AM (GMT)
Oi, lets not get ahead of ourselfs here. We don't even have a proper team yet.
GmMontex03 - January 27, 2006 06:26 AM (GMT)
I like Falcons idea, but we could create a new race. Ill see what i get out of interviews.
WolfPack - January 27, 2006 06:38 AM (GMT)
Oh, btw, he mentions racial data, but I didn't feel like typing 2 more pages. If its a hot idea, i'll post them.
GmMontex03 - January 27, 2006 06:52 AM (GMT)
It is a good idea, but not here. Just incase the wrong people drop in.
BrownMan - January 28, 2006 03:35 AM (GMT)
so what are we using to make this?
I mean what program? RPGmaker?
WolfPack - January 28, 2006 05:16 AM (GMT)
Still working on that. lol. I was thinking that or temp flux.
GmMontex03 - January 28, 2006 07:05 AM (GMT)
Well, rpgm is a good tool to use or temp f but we might consider making our own if we get someone that can program, but its still undecided. I'm still going through cantidates.
WolfPack - January 28, 2006 10:07 PM (GMT)
I think, personally, making our own engine could be fatal cause it takes for ever, it isn't easy, and if it doesn't work, then we'd have to start all over.
Best to use something already there. Unless we do get some really talented people that are willing to devote x-number of months to the project for free.
Duranix - January 29, 2006 03:58 AM (GMT)
Interested in Textures and models.
How about we use Source?
Duranix - January 29, 2006 04:02 AM (GMT)
@ Falcon.
How about after the people from Valhalla kill the evil, and are the last remaining force, they decide to take over for themselves?
The game could start half way During the war, and could end after you take down the Valhalla leader.
I couldnt use your story because i couldnt find a team to do it :(
BrownMan - January 29, 2006 04:19 AM (GMT)
RPG maker would be teh best in my opinion. not only is it easy to learn, but the quality of the games arent bad either :)
WolfPack - January 29, 2006 06:22 AM (GMT)
How is it these days? Last i looked at it was in like 2000.
GmMontex03 - January 29, 2006 07:30 AM (GMT)
I would personally choose 2k3, but that one has flaws, and im not sure about xp, i lik ethe 2k3 style of fighting better.
WolfPack - January 29, 2006 07:52 AM (GMT)
You know, now that Temp Flux 2.0 is out, that is pretty powerful too.
GmMontex03 - January 29, 2006 08:33 AM (GMT)
We shal see, we shall see. Well, looks like its gonna be hard work either way.
WolfPack - January 29, 2006 08:47 PM (GMT)
The only thing about rpg maker was it looked like breath of fire last time I looked at it, and to me, that was a MAJOR turn off. <_<
If its improved great! If it hasn't, I think we should really consider TF. I mean, after all it does have a battle system we know we like. LOL.
BrownMan - January 29, 2006 09:14 PM (GMT)
RPG XP is much better. the resolution's not only DOUBLED from 2k3, but you can actually code your own battle system. it uses Ruby scripting so thats pretty easy to pick up if you have any experience whatsoever in visual basic. we could code our own battle system (maybe just like CT's active battle system)
WolfPack - January 29, 2006 10:43 PM (GMT)
Duranix - January 30, 2006 02:50 AM (GMT)
OR we could use ValvE's SOURCE SDK and make the game look like AWSOMNESSZORZS!
Crabsmasher - January 30, 2006 03:36 AM (GMT)

Right, but then people like me who don't have the game would not be able to play it...since it would require steam..and you can't pirate Steam.
I think I am lowering my application to just inventive idea's..
WolfPack - January 30, 2006 03:50 AM (GMT)
lol. Ya, lets not use steam :P Or for that matter anything that we have to buy.
Which leaves us TF and RPG maker.... well we can rip rpg maker. lol
Or making our own.
GmMontex03 - January 30, 2006 05:51 AM (GMT)
Making our own would take a long time, atleast another year. well see what happens.
WolfPack - January 30, 2006 07:14 AM (GMT)
<_< Thats why i'm against it
GmMontex03 - January 30, 2006 07:26 AM (GMT)
Unless we have someone that has made there own engine and it works fine.
Magus5311 - January 30, 2006 02:20 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but a programmer rarely GIVES there engine a way..
We still thinkin 2d?
