Title: New Game +, New Game ++
Description: Added difficulty with new game ++

I think that every RPG should implement New Game +, just so you can go through and beat the crap out of every boss that gave you trouble.
Unfortunately, New Game + is so easy... that it loses its appeal very quickly.
My idea is to also build in a New Game ++ which would be the same as New Game +, only the enemies are more powerful, according to the strength of your characters.
This would add a lot more replay value.

This has already been mentioned by me... but it was a bit different than what you mentioned. In the new game ++ I made up, you completely restart the game; but have access to new secret characters, new quests, and new mini games. Though... then there might have to be a new game+++ in order to have new game++ have an increased difficulty level... which would be just a bit too many extra +'s.
Anyway... I'm not going to go into a huge description on what New Game++ was exactly decided to look like; but i'm sure you can find it among some of the older posts... somewhere.

 In legend of mana once you beat the game you could use a newgame + feature, once you had restarted you could go to your encyclopidias and there was a new book that allowed you to change the difficulty of the game between normal and no future mode. Why not have that or something similar implimented in your newgame++ feature.

I guess you could give the player the choice of making New Game++ more difficult than a normal New Game... but I don't think it should be necessary in new game++. Perhaps you should be asked that at the start of new game++.
Anyway, that is my idea... but keep in mind, new game++ hasn't even been complimented upon by any Admin... I suppose there is room for improvement.

Well....the enemies should be harder than in new game + mode, i think. and well...theres still plenty of time to suggest stuff to the creators.

Ya, what is the story on the new game ++, is the admin gonna do it?
Apocalypse - March 21, 2004 04:54 PM (GMT)
We have been talking about a "New Game++" for quite some time now... though, I haven't heard any response concerning the idea from admin. What we had basically decided New Game++ to be, was a version of the remake, in which some of our ideas (mini games, sidequests, etc) would actually be implemented. Technically, the storyline of New Game++ would be similar to that of just a normal New Game; but it would likely have new sidequests, minigames... and possibly even more secret characters.

I was just thinking New Game ++ would have added difficulty.
But it would be kind of neat to have some new stuff available.
Or better yet - only have added content on the added difficulty levels.
(Make the suckers work for the good stuff.)
I wouldn't want the Dev Team to go all gung-ho adding secret characters and stuff though.
I can see more sidequests working out pretty well, if it's done right. ;)

How about a New Game + where you can use UT weapons?
It won't be hard to incorporate.

That wouldn't be hard at all, probably.
Although I think the Dev Team is trying to preserve the CT authenticity - which means nothing ripped off of other games. :(

lol. I like the idea of having the New Game ++ as not only harder, but having all the extras we want to throw in there.
GalaxyFalcon - March 23, 2004 09:39 PM (GMT)
Yes. Harder but with more Extras, i think this is one of the best ideas we have, bedies the invdidual add-on's.

It is a great idea, but could only work if it goes just as well as we are suspecting it will. Keep in mind, I am sure they can't add all of our ideas into this game... but perhaps a good few of 'em. I like the ideas so far, but what we really have to consider is the implementability of these ideas... for this particular developing team. They definentally have the talent, but would they truly wish to dedicate so much time in adding all of these ideas? I definentally think not. Some ideas are harder to implement than others, and some are also more useful than others.
The best ideas would be the easiest to implement, while remaining quite useful and entertaining in the game. After all, coding some of these ideas can prove to be quite... challenging.

Ya, if they put all the stuff in the game, it would not only be to large, but also boring.
