Talk about the band who were made famous thanks to the Daredevil movie.

Gothic Rock... You gotta Love It

Purple Ranger 14 - May 12, 2004 04:52 AM (GMT)
I cry whenever I hear or see "My Immortal" because it makes me think of Lauren. In both reality & in my stories.

Ville Valo - May 12, 2004 05:37 AM (GMT)
That's sad Dude... That song makes me think about Life itself... How short it is

Purple Ranger 14 - May 12, 2004 05:46 AM (GMT)
If you recall from my stories & me talking about her, I protected Lauren a lot and saved her from my enemies and shared things with her that I wouldn't share with anyone else. And she cheered me up whenever I was upset and I even took care of her when she had a headache.

Lady Hawk - November 13, 2004 10:15 PM (GMT)
"My Immortal"

It makes me think, if love is really worth dying for. Hell it is. I know it is. Yet, I hope when it comes to my time to die. That my love & I die at the same time. In a very special way. Want to know more PM me. Ah Hum! Not meant for the little kiddies ears.

Purple Ranger 14 - November 14, 2004 05:17 AM (GMT)
To me, it is. I had this idea for a Harry Potter story where he befriends the descendant of Merlin, who is in his twenties, and both the descendant & Harry sacrifice themselves to save Cho & the woman the descendant loves to stop Voldemort.

How about you also add Gandalf's lovely descendant LÍlú? Who whack Voldemort in the head with a magickal tin baseball bat. Making Voldemort lose his memory. Having him think that his a pregant woman with hemorrhoids, sore nipples, & awaiting to give birth for half a century. *lol* J/K! :P

But it's a thought nonetheless. :D

Please don't kill me. I'm to weird to die. *lol*

Purple Ranger 14 - November 14, 2004 06:52 AM (GMT)
The descendant would be me and the woman I love would be Lauren.

My sugar buzz is going away & I am getting sleepy. -_-

Because it's been two years since I last saw her and she was supposed to call me five months ago but never did.

Whenever I saw the "My Immortal" video, I would literally start crying.

Evanescence's Amy Lee Sues Former Manager, Alleges Financial And Sexual Misconduct
Suit's documentation also alleges that Lee was in 'abusive relationship' with former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody.
by Chris Harris
Attorneys representing Evanescence singer Amy Lee filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday against the band's former manager, Dennis Rider of Rider Management, charging "breach of fiduciary duty," sexual assault and battery, professional negligence and currency conversion, among other claims. The suit seeks unspecified "general and special damages," as well as "punitive or exemplary damages." Lee also wants Rider to reimburse her for "all unauthorized and excessive expenditures" he accumulated using her credit card.
The suit also claims Rider "neglected Lee's career and business and has focused his efforts on having extramarital affairs, hiding them from his wife, becoming intoxicated during business meetings, physically abusing women and boasting about it, making repeated unwelcome sexual advances toward Lee, receiving fees in excess of what was provided for in his management agreement and using Lee's corporate credit card to purchase gifts for his mistress."
Lee - who, along with the rest of the band, has been working on the follow-up to Evanescence's 2003 breakthrough Fallen - claims in the suit she dissolved her working relationship with Rider late last month because he had "engaged in a conflict of interest" by continuing to represent former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody as well as "wrongful, tortuous and unlawful activities." The suit alleges Rider used Lee's credit card to "hide" from his wife the purchase of an $18,000 car he'd bought for his mistress. Additionally, it alleges he abused Lee's corporate card to pay for lavish and unnecessary hotel stays in New York and Florida in order to spend time with his mistress.

Purple Ranger 14 - December 11, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
The suit further claims Rider routinely boasted about committing acts of domestic abuse, and would make repeated references to "popp[ing]" his wife. Rider's termination letter, included in the suit as an exhibit to the filing, reads, "As you are well aware, Ms. Lee was recently in an abusive relationship with Ben Moody. She has no intention of associating with any persons who engage in that sort of abusive and illegal conduct."
A spokesperson for Evanescence's label, Wind-Up Records, would not comment on the lawsuit or the allegations of abuse made in the termination letter about Moody.
According to the suit, Lee's decision to sever ties with Rider was further spurred on by the "overt and unwelcome sexual advances" the manager made toward the singer. On one occasion, the suit claims, "he put his head in Lee's lap and ran his hand up her leg, when she sat next to him on a couch to listen to a demo of songs for her next album." There was another time when Rider "put his hand on Lee's leg while he sat next to her on an airplane." On a third occasion, he told her "that he wanted to perform a gynecological examination on her."
Lee's suit follows an action Rider brought against the singer on December 1, claiming breach of contract; Rider is seeking $10 million in damages. Rider's suit claims he started managing Lee and Evanescence in late 2002 under a contract for three records; the band has completed one studio LP since hiring him. Lee's suit claims that, after receiving his letter of termination, Rider "had an attorney friend contact Lee's representatives, purportedly to discuss a resolution to the matter. In fact, there was no interest in a reasonable resolution, rather, Rider and his litigation counsel were busy drafting a lawsuit to file against Lee and used the feigned interest in a settlement to cause Lee to delay filling her claims. ... [Rider arrived at] the courthouse steps [before Lee in order to] gain a procedural advantage."
In a statement, Rider's attorney, Bert Deixler, said "Rider Management and Dennis Rider have fully performed all of the duties and obligations owed by the firm under the management agreement to Ms. Lee and Evanescence. Further, Rider has always conducted himself by the highest professional standards and conducted his business relationships with Ms. Lee in a transparent, appropriate and entirely legal fashion. That she would now suggest otherwise is appalling and untrue.
"Ms. Lee is very creative in writing lyrics to a song," the statement continued. "But now she is creating a version of reality that simply has no basis in fact, and she knows that. Dennis Rider's guidance of [the band] and Ms. Lee's personal career has made her a rock and roll celebrity worldwide and wealthy beyond her dreams. That she would now turn on him, make such spurious and groundless allegations and summarily dismiss him is illegal and disappointing beyond words."
Lee's attorney could not be reached for comment.

Evanescence Announce Dates For Spring North American Tour
Chevelle, Finger Eleven will support.
by Chris Harris
For Evanescence, much of the last five months has been spent performing live gigs and promoting The Open Door, the band's sophomore release. Amy Lee's posse performed for thousands across the U.S. before crossing the pond to tour Europe, and next month they're hitting Japan and Australia.
Their world tour just got a lot longer: On Friday afternoon, the band released dates for the second leg of the North American trek — and said a third leg will be announced soon, which will carry the group into the early summer (see "Evanescence Live In NYC: Amy Lee Headbangs, Serenades Her 'New Hometown' " and "Evanescence Set For Fall Tour; Amy Lee Reveals Inspiration Behind 'Sober' ").
So far, Evanescence has scheduled 14 U.S. gigs, beginning on March 16 in Fresno, California. Tickets for all of the shows on this leg — which includes a March 25 stop in the band's hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas — will go on sale January 27.
The Open Door has sold nearly 1.5 million copies since its release in late September (see "Evanescence Butcher The Killers In Battle For Billboard #1"), and earlier this month, Lee announced that she's gotten engaged to her boyfriend of more than a year, a psychiatrist named Josh (his last name has not been disclosed).
Joining Evanescence for this upcoming run of arenas will be Chevelle and labelmates Finger Eleven. Chevelle will release Vena Sera, their fifth studio LP, April 3; Finger Eleven will issue Them vs. You vs. Me on March 6.

Home Is Where The Band Is: Evanescence, Incubus Shack Up While Recording
Chili Peppers, Papa Roach have also rented mansions while making albums.
by Corey Moss
It's often said that a band is like a marriage — so perhaps it should come as no surprise that more and more bands are moving in together.
Yes, on top of living with one another in tour buses for months at a time, some musicians are now opting to sleep under the same roof while recording too. It's a trend that stems from modern technology. As recording equipment has become smaller and more portable, musicians are taking advantage by getting out of the often-stale environment of recording studios and saving rent money in the process.
While the Red Hot Chili Peppers famously recorded 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik while living together in a Hollywood mansion (nicknamed the Houdini Mansion after the magician who once lived there) owned by producer Rick Rubin (see "Peppers Say Return To Sex Scene Yielded Different Magik"), bands like Incubus and Papa Roach have popularized that type of recording in recent years.
"None of us had a place to live, and we had a recording budget, so [guitarist] Michael [Einziger] had the bright idea," Incubus singer Brandon Boyd said of making 2001's Morning View, named after the street they recorded on in Malibu, California. "He was like, 'Dude, we should rent a mansion and we'll all go live there. That way we don't have to pay rent.' Nobody in our camp — the record label, management — thought it was a good idea. They thought we were gonna, like, piss off and surf all day and play in the beach and stuff like that, which we did, but we happened to write a record too."
The experience brought the band closer together, and it also had an impact on the sound of the album. "I think it affected the songwriting too," Boyd said. "We had never rented a house on the beach the middle of nowhere, and in my opinion when you listen to Morning View you can hear that, you can pick up on this vibe. It sounds like a bunch of dudes squatting in a mansion."
As with Incubus, recording in a mansion left such an impression on Papa Roach that the band named their 2006 album The Paramour Sessions after the estate where it was recorded (see "Papa Roach Clip A Freak Show; LP Inspired By Oil Heiress' Ghost") — which TV viewers might recognize as the "Rock Star: Supernova" or "Rock Star: INXS" house.
"Back home, we'd go to our rehearsal studio from noon to 6, and we'd be trying to juggle our family lives and our rock and roll lifestyle," said P-Roach singer Jacoby Shaddix. "To move into this house and fully immerse ourselves in our music and our creativity and being artistic, we grew by leaps and bounds. We just disconnected ourselves from the world outside of us, and that was what really pushed things forward."
There are no private rooms in most recording studios, but in the Paramour, Shaddix found dozens of intimate places to write music and work songs out. And with engineers also living there, the band was never tied down to a schedule.
"Anytime you wanted to pick up a guitar you could just go for it," Shaddix said. "We were waking up and making music. And being so close in proximity to each other and seeing what was going on in each other's personal lives [definitely influenced the songwriting]."
Bands can spend thousands of dollars a day renting studio space, so mansions are often more cost-effective, especially when an out-of-town band like Papa Roach are also living there.
"It makes the writing easier when you can take your time and not be wasting tons of money in the studio," said Evanescence singer Amy Lee. "And it creates the vibe of just being able to be an artist. You wake up at 4 [p.m.], have a glass of wine and write some music if you feel like it that day and not worry that you just spent five-grand."
My Chemical Romance wrote most of 2006's The Black Parade at the Paramour but chose not to live there. "I like separation," singer Gerard Way said. "I like being able to leave the studio. We would have gone extra crazy if we would have lived there."
And My Chem are not alone in their thinking. Most of the bands that have used the Houdini Mansion in recent years, like Linkin Park and System of a Down (both from Los Angeles, where members already have homes), have not lived there at the same time.
"It's not that we wouldn't be able to live with each other, but we all have families," LP singer Chester Bennington said. "And we've been working on this since January [2006]! Also, there's six guys in our band. To move us all into one house would just be stupid."
"We already live in the same house — it's called a tour bus," added 30 Seconds to Mars singer Jared Leto. "So there's no need for that one."
Perhaps the best solution is to follow the typical recording method of British rockers Muse. "It's great to do a bit of an album that way," singer Matthew Bellamy said. "Every album we've done, we've done at least three or four weeks in a residential studio. It's great to write in, but with [studios] in New York or L.A. or whatever, you can call upon weird instruments when you need them or weird amps and all that kind of stuff."
Incubus recorded both Morning View follow-ups in a studio (see "Incubus Want Change Of Scenery For Morning View Follow-Up"), but the band is open to going back to living together in a mansion.
"We've talked about trying to get like an old, haunted castle somewhere," Boyd said. "We'll write our goth record there."

Korn, Evanescence, Hellyeah Top Family Values Tour Bill
Festival's fifth installment launches July 20 in St. Louis; also features Atreyu, Flyleaf, Trivium.
by Corey Moss, with additional reporting by Chris Harris
SANTA MONICA, California — In what is certainly a first, Korn singer Jonathan Davis broke the news to fans in a virtual hot tub Monday (March 26) that the Family Values Tour will return this summer with Evanescence co-headlining.
Atreyu, Flyleaf, Trivium and Hellyeah, the new band featuring Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott and members of Mudvayne and Nothingface (see "Vinnie Paul Returns To Make 'Hellacious' Magic With Hellyeah"), will also make the trek, which kicks off July 20 in St. Louis.
Davis, Korn guitarist Munky, Vinnie and Atreyu singer Alex Varkatzas announced the tour on VirtualMTV.com in what was billed as the F--- the Press Press Conference, a virtual world open to fans and set up specifically to discuss the Family Values Tour.
"It's gonna rock," Davis typed from a computer in an MTV conference room packed with the musicians and their managers.
As the guys meandered around the virtual Korn lodge, gaming connoisseur Davis advised the others on how to execute a variety of actions, from jumping to kissing (although when he tried to smooch Varkatzas, the singer "played coy," as the action states).
While Varkatzas repeatedly changed his shirt, Munky flirted with some girls ("I need to find out her age so I don't get sent to virtual jail," he deadpanned) and Vinnie talked up his new band to some longtime supporters.
Korn fans hammered Davis for album news ("It's going great, we're tracking vocals right now," he revealed) and poured on the compliments ("Thanks for the awesomeness!"), all while the singer continually dropped plugs for the tour.
"Y'all are gonna hear some new sh-- for sure," he typed.
The Family Values Tour was first launched back in 1998 and featured Korn, Orgy, Limp Bizkit, Ice Cube and Rammstein. Limp Bizkit assumed the headlining spot on the tour's second installment in 1999, along with Korn, Primus, Staind, Method Man and Redman, the Crystal Method, Mobb Deep and Filter. Two years later, the festival returned for a third helping, this time with Stone Temple Pilots, Linkin Park, Staind, Static-X and Deadsy.
The tour went dormant for five years and returned for a 2006 run with Korn, the Deftones, Stone Sour, Flyleaf, Dir en Grey, 10 Years, Deadsy, Bury Your Dead, Bullets and Octane, and Walls of Jericho (see "Korn Resurrect Family Values Tour With Deftones, Stone Sour").
An itinerary for 2007 has yet to be released, but the tour will hit the following cities:

Evanescence are down a drummer and a guitarist, making Amy Lee the sole member remaining from the Fallen-era lineup. Guitarist John LeCompt claims he was fired, drummer Rocky Gray says he's been ordered to keep his mouth shut and Amy Lee reports that the band is "alive and well" without the two and won't miss a single tour date.

Evanescence Split With Guitarist, Drummer; Amy Lee Says Band Is 'Alive And Well'
John LeCompt and Rocky Gray depart after four years; tour will carry on as scheduled, according to Lee.
by Gil Kaufman
And then there was one. With the recent departure of drummer Rocky Gray and guitarist John LeCompt, Amy Lee is now the only member of Evanescence left who has been in the band since the release of its smash 2003 breakout album, Fallen.
LeCompt was either fired by the band or decided to move on — depending which account you believe — while Gray left of his own accord recently, making them the latest members of the group to fall by the wayside. Original guitarist/ co-founder Ben Moody left in 2003 (see "Evanescence Singer Says Split With Moody 'For The Best' "), and bassist William Boyd quit last June after three years in the band (see "Evanescence Lose Bassist; Amy Lee Vows To Stay On Schedule").
Though the group's management could not be reached for comment at press time, promising an official statement later in the day on Monday (May 7), Lee posted an undated explanation of the latest lineup changes on the band's official Web site. In the posting, Lee wrote, "Evanescence is alive and well. John and Rocky were in Evanescence for four years and we shared some great times together playing live, but they were ready to move on and so we have parted ways. Evanescence is something I have loved and nurtured since I was 14, and I will continue to protect and fight for it as I always have."
Lee said she and guitarist Terry Balsamo — who replaced Moody in 2003 (see "Evanescence Name New Guitarist") — and bassist Tim McCord — the former Revolution Smile guitarist who replaced Boyd last summer — are "very excited to play live with some amazing new musicians and we will rock harder than ever."
Lee did not say who would replace the pair, but promised that no dates on the group's current tour will be canceled. The band is scheduled to play the Rock on the Range hard rock festival in Columbus, Ohio, on May 19 and co-headline the Family Values tour this summer.
LeCompt's version of the split was not quite as cheerful as Lee's. According to a post on his MySpace blog, LeCompt said he was informed Friday afternoon that he was being fired from the group during a cell phone call with Lee. "This call wasn't from a friend who appreciated me but from an enemy who was prepared to hurt me and my family. Without any warning or negotiations for my future, I was fired for no good reason," he wrote on his site. "We have not always seen eye to eye on everything, but who does? Our common goal was always the same: To make Evanescence the best rock band it could ever be. I have always given blood, sweat and tears to make that happen but apparently that is not enough. I have now become just another of the people fallen by the wayside on the revolving door of her life."
In his own MySpace blog post from Sunday, Gray said he was not able to speak about the split, due to an alleged gag ordered imposed by Evanescence's management. "Amy Lee's management e-mailed me last night to tell me that, in their view, the contract I signed to record, perform and tour with the group says that I'm not allowed to have any free speech in regard to Evanescence," Gray wrote.
"The way they spin it, I'm not even allowed to say I quit the group, I guess. But the news is out there, so, there ya go. I need to have a lawyer read over all that mess to tell me what, when and how I can tell you all — the REAL FANS — what really went down, if I ever can, haha."
Gray said he is preparing to reunite with his old Living Sacrifice band mate Lance Garvin in the group Soul Embraced, with an album due soon. He said he will also continue to play in the group Machina with LeCompt.

Little Rock, Arkansas, CBS affiliate WTHV reports that last weekend — while fans were buzzing over news that Evanescence dropped two longtime members — Amy Lee was off getting married.
http://www.vh1.com/artists/news/1559207/20...n_lindsay.jhtml

Evanescence have rounded out their lineup by grabbing two members of Dark New Day, the band announced Thursday. Drummer Will Hunt and guitarist Troy McLawhorn replace Rocky Gray and John LeCompt in the lineup. "I am a big fan of Dark New Day and can't wait for the fans to see what the guys bring to our live show," Amy Lee said in a statement. The new Evanescence will debut Saturday at the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio. Meanwhile, Rocky Gray is unloading the gold and platinum discs he was awarded with band on eBay. There are no bids yet on the six auctions, which open at $500.
