To The Limits
The next morning, I found Kira asleep in my desk chair in my room after I woke up. It was easy to tell that she had watched over me as I drifted off to sleep. I decided not to wake her and put a blanket on her. I walked downstairs and started prepping breakfast for everyone.
I made waffles with buttermilk pancakes & fried eggs and everyone, including a now awake Kira, loved it. Nicole offered Kira a ride to school and Kira took it. Then Paul, Lauren & I went to the Wind Ninja Academy because we had classes to teach.
A few hours later, I got a call from Tommy on my Dino Morpher. He said he found Aubrey exhausted and weakened badly. I told him I’d be there in a couple minutes and told Sensei that Aubrey needed my help. He understood and let me leave.
A couple minutes later, I arrived at the Dino Cave and was worried about Aubrey. Tommy had her on a table and was running a diagnostic. He said he found her in the nearby woods this way and I used my telepathic powers to read her mind.
Conner & the others arrived as I continued probing her mind and I could hear Sebastian ask what I was doing. I heard Kevin explain that my telepathic powers allow me to probe people’s minds even when they were unconscious. I found out what happened and told the others.
“Aubrey was trying to test the limits of her mutant powers by having every plant in a five mile radius envelop a training dummy so she could use the plant part of Mesogog’s monsters against them. She concentrated too hard and the strain was too much for her. It’ll take a while for her to heal but she should be okay.” I said.
“That’s it? She blacked out from concentrating too hard?!?” Ethan asked.
“Yes, Ethan. It is. You should have felt the disappointment she felt when we fought SniCrow. She was devastated. She’s been training ever since.” I said.
“Can’t you make something that’ll allow her to do that?” Conner asked.
“No I can’t. The only one who can enhance Aubrey’s powers is Aubrey herself. She’s still mastering her powers and it’s been almost four years since they fully manifested.” I said.
“What caused her powers to fully manifest?” Kira asked.
“I got a call from Professor Charles Xavier, a fellow mutant telepath, in New York telepathically when I was at a restaurant with Russell & our human friend Joanna Shook. He told me that Aubrey was a mutant with the ability to control plants and I must recruit her before giant robots called Sentinels get her. We went back to Joanna’s house, because Aubrey was her neighbor, and I was about to talk to her when the Sentinels arrived. Bonnie Jo, David & Fesha also arrived and the four of us suited up and fought the Sentinels. The fighting scared six Grass-Type Pokémon and caused them to run to Aubrey for safety. A Sentinel grabbed me and slammed me into a tree and that angered Aubrey. She unleashed powerful vines that rose from the ground and crushed the Sentinels like they were sheets of paper. I asked her to join my team and she accepted. Those grass Pokémon became the first of her Pokémon arsenal. That’s how Aubrey became Botanica and the Wood Elementalist of the team. I owe her my life.” I explained.
“What’s an Elementalist?” Sebastian asked.
“It’s what I call my teammates who’s mutant powers allow them to harness the power of one of the elements. Earth, fire, wind, water, wood, metal, thunder, ice, light & darkness. Those are also elements of legendary Digimon warriors. Long story. Fesha is the Thunder Elementalist. Russell’s the Fire Elementalist. Jack is the Earth Elementalist. Nicole is the Wind Elementalist.” I said.
“Who has the other elements?” Hayley asked.
“Our roommates Charlene, Michelle, Allie, Rob, and Joanna are the other Elementalists.” I said.
“Cool.” Conner said.
Our conversation was cut short when the alarm went off. We looked at the monitors and saw a monster called Compeagle was rampaging through the forest. We could tell he was part eagle, part computer & part rose. We knew we couldn’t fight him without Aubrey but she was out like a light and we had no choice. Tommy told Hayley to keep an eye on Aubrey and the seven of us went to confront Compeagle.
When we got to the woods, we saw Zeltrax with Compeagle & Tyrannodrones. They were obviously ready to fight and so were we. We accessed our morphers and activated our powers.
“Dino Thunder, Power Up!” we yelled.
We agreed to spread out and attacked Mesogog’s goons. Tommy fought Zeltrax. Conner, Sebastian, Ethan & Kevin fought the Tyrannodrones. And Kira & I fought Compeagle.
Kira & I used our ThunderMax Blasters to blast Compeagle but his wings acted like a shield and deflected them. Kira pulled out her Ptera Grips while I had my Allo Sais and struck him with them but he flapped his wings and sent us flying into some trees. What happened next was totally déjà vu for me.
Kira & I looked up and saw Aubrey. She had morphed and was angrier than a Snorlax after getting rudely awaken. The trees around us came alive and enveloped Compeagle with thick branches. It was obvious that it was Aubrey using her mutant powers. Aubrey used her Iguano Daggers to strike him several times before making the branches shake violently. The branches released Compeagle and he hit the ground hard. We combined our weapons with the others’ and defeated Compeagle with the Z-Rex Blaster.
“Aubrey, how are you feeling?” Kevin asked.
“Better now. I woke up and I saw Bobby & Kira slam into those trees on the monitor at the Dino Cave. I knew I had to help them because nobody hurts my friends & gets away with it.” Aubrey said.
“Glad you did. Compeagle would have thrashed us if you hadn’t.” Kira said.
Our chit chatting was interrupted by Compeagle growing into a giant and flapping his wings. The trees shook and something fell out of one of them. Aubrey caught it and it was an egg. Tommy said it was the Archaeopteryx Dinozord’s egg. I told the others that the Archaeopteryx was one of the first feathered birds and that it existed around the same time as my zord did. The egg hatched and the Archaeopteryx Dinozord grew quickly. It attacked Compeagle and Tommy called for the Brachiosaurus & the other Dinozords.
All of the Dinozords we had fought Compeagle. The Coelophysis, Archelon, Stegosaurus, Dimetrodon & Pachycephalosaurus attacked him first. Then the Brachiosaurus & the other Dinozords attacked him before we jumped into our zords and had them combine to form the Thundersaurus Megazord. Aubrey’s morpher plate changed to the Archaeopteryx’s and she had it combine with the Megazord by landing in the Megazord’s left hand to form the Thundersaurus Megazord Crossbow Mode.
Compeagle came running towards us and we powered up the Megazord. We fired the Teryx Crossbow and destroyed Compeagle with a Rapid Fire Feather Arrow Assault. We powered down and went to Hayley’s Cyberspace where she closed it early so we could continue talking in private.
When we got there, Hayley & I got drinks for everyone as they sat down. Aubrey sat on the couch in front of the window and I sat next to her while holding six large mugs of root beer.
She explained that she heard me talk about her and remembered the great things she’d accomplished as a mutant superhero. She said it was because of me talking about her that she woke up. She thanked me and I told her it was my pleasure since we were teammates, friends & family. Aubrey hugged me and the nine of us continued talking for the next few hours.
