Depressed Ranger
A few days after I got back from my vacation, I started to spiral downward into a depression. I was online talking to Melanie when she told me she couldn’t come visit me until she got a job. That hurt me real badly because I knew how bad Melanie’s luck was when it came to getting a job. It was like mine before I got a job at Cyberspace. That and the fact that I felt lonely in the heart region made me feel like nobody cared about or wanted me. I started to wonder why I wanted to help people if all they did was hurt me and make me feel like a freak of nature. Even before I found out I was a mutant. I decided to get some sleep and went to bed.
The next day, I woke up with yet another headache. I took a much needed shower but I could stop thinking about the pain I had suffered throughout my life. I got out and put some clean clothes on before I went to Cyberspace.
A couple hours later, I accessed some files I had about Lauren and I started crying. Looking at the pictures made me have flashbacks of when she & I dated and fought side by side as Ninja Storm Rangers. I covered the keyboard so the tears I was trying to hold back wouldn’t short circuit it and thought about the second date Lauren & I had. I remembered Lauren & I celebrating our 19th birthdays together and the all of the fun we had. I couldn’t stop myself and I put my head down as I exploded into tears.
I’m not sure how long I had been crying when I felt someone put their hand on my shoulder. I looked up and saw Kira. I could tell she was very concerned about me and Hayley handed her a paper towel to soak up the puddle of tears I had made. I don’t know why but I ended up hugging Kira after she helped me stand up because I was too tired to get up. Hayley said she closed up early and she gave us a lift to the Dino Cave.
When we got there, I sat down in a chair and started crying again. Ethan tossed me a box of tissues and I started to blow my nose. I sounded like an elephant and my friends laughed. I tossed the tissue away like a basketball and continued wiping the tears from my face as Kira & the others gathered around me.
“Bobby, why were you crying?” Tommy asked.
“I’d rather not say. You guys wouldn’t believe me anyway.” I said.
“He was looking at some files of Lauren when he started crying at the café. I think she might have something to do with it.” Hayley said.
“That and some other things that are kind of personal.” I said.
We heard some loud roars coming from outside of Tommy’s house and Tommy checked the monitor to see what caused them. What he saw amazed him and he told us to go outside & look.
We ran outside and saw all of the Dinozords. We wondered why they decided to show up and the Allosaurus spoke to me. He said that he sensed I was in great pain and was worried about me. I told the others what the Allosaurus told me and they were amazed that I understood him. I explained that I listened with my heart and it allowed me to understand him. I walked up and hugged my Dinozord’s leg as a way of thanking him for being worried about me. I decided that I should tell my teammates and we went back inside.
“Guys, I’ve been feeling very lonely lately. And I mean emotionally. I was diagnosed with depression at a very young age. In high school, not only was I constantly picked on, but my friends frequently hurt me by not helping me. Or they would try to but then get sidetracked by somebody who would start talking to them. My roommate Bonnie Jo was the worst. She went from being my closest friend to the most unreliable person I had ever known during our Senior Year. She stopped hanging out with me, unless we were fighting bad guys, and she’d get mad whenever I’d try to do something funny. Even my music teacher hated me. He spent 15 minutes with me throughout the whole school year and spent the rest of the time with the other students, most of whom hated my guts because I’m a geek. He spent like weeks with them at a time. That was beyond rude. I was also teased for being a fan of Britney Spears. Every time she was bad mouthed, it hurt me because they were insulting somebody I cared about. They say high school is supposed to be the best time of your life. Well, it was a living nightmare for me. It caused me to go home crying literally everyday.” I explained.
“He told me about how hard school was for him when I saw him reading something on his computer in his office at home a few years ago. It was obvious that it traumatized him.” Aubrey said.
“Last night, Melanie told me that she wouldn’t come to see me until she got a job and that hurt big time because she’s got luck as bad as me when it comes to finding a job. And I do mean before you hired me, Hayley. I was so looking forward to seeing her again. She knows I was a Wind Ranger when her cat was acting weird because of one of Lothor’s monsters and I had to tell her I was so I could fight it.” I said.
“How did you meet Melanie?” Ethan asked.
“Through the internet. We met at a website I go to every night and became on & off friends until over a year ago when we found out how close we lived from each other. We became best friends.” I said.
“Wow. That’s truly amazing, Bobby. You met your best friend online first and then face to face.” Sebastian said.
“Thanks, Sebastian. Best Human friend. My Digimon partner Agumon is my best friend. And I’ve been thinking about Lauren a lot as of recent. Everywhere I look, I see her face or somebody who looks just like her. Especially on TV. She’s my first love and yet I can’t get her out of my head. I’m even quiet whenever I’m around her at the Wind Ninja Academy. I think I’m still in love with her.” I said.
“I had no idea your life was so hard, Bobby. If you need anything, you can always turn to me.” Kira said.
“And me.” Tommy said.
“As well as me.” Hayley said.
“Likewise.” Conner said.
“We’re family, aren’t we?” Kevin said.
“You can turn to me.” Sebastian said.
“You know where to find me if you need a friend.” Ethan said.
“You helped me realize that my plant controlling ability is a gift and not a curse.” Aubrey said.
“Thanks, guys. Sorry I hugged you when you helped me up, Kira. Sometimes hugging people makes me feel like a human being and helps me feel comfort.” I said.
“It’s all right. It felt nice anyway.” Kira said.
We heard some beeping and we saw a monster called Pyrocat attacking the city on the monitor. It was setting fire to buildings and scaring the people. I could tell it was part tiger, part flamethrower & part cherry blossom. We knew we had to stop him and we activated our morphers.
“Dino Thunder, Power Up!” we yelled.
“Tyranno! Ptera! Tricera! Allo! Dilopho! Iguano! Kenti! Brachio!” we said when we became Rangers.
“We got to put those fires out. But how?” Conner asked when we got there.
“Kevin & I can do it. We both have Water Pokémon. He can use his Chinchou named Chinchy while I use some of my water Pokémon!” I said.
“You guys go ahead. My cuz & I can handle the fires. Go, Chinchy!” Kevin said as he sent out his Chinchou.
“CHINCHOU!” Chinchy said when he came out.
“Squirtle, Mudkip, Totodile, Corsola, Wooper, Wartortle, Corphish, come on out!” I said.
“SQUIRTLE! MUDKIP! TOTODILE! CORSOLA! WOOPER! WARTORTLE! CORPHISH!” my water Pokémon said.
“Everyone, put out those fires with your Water Gun & Hydro Pump attacks!” Kevin & I yelled.
Almost immediately after we gave the command, the eight Water-Types started blasting the fires with powerful jets of water. Squirtle & Wartortle were the only ones who could use Hydro Pump and they took flight as they spun around like garden sprinklers to get the higher flames.
Corphish, being a bit stubborn, decided to use his Bubblebeam attack to blast away some bricks but I told him to use it to help Squirtle & Wartortle instead. He did and within minutes, most of the fires were put out. We congratulated our Pokémon on doing a great job so far & to keep going and went to help out our teammates.
When we found our teammates, Pyrocat had beaten them up badly. We pulled out our ThunderMax Blasters and blasted Pyrocat. Kevin chucked his Dilopho Disc at him and I powered up my Allo Sais for an Allo Slash to weaken Pyrocat a great deal. We combined our weapons with the others, minus Tommy’s, and formed the Z-Rex Blaster. We fired it and defeated Pyrocat.
Suddenly, it started to rain and it regenerated Pyrocat’s remains and caused him to grow. We were about to call for the Dinozords when the water Pokémon walked up to us. They said they found something that might help us and it was an egg. Tommy said it was the Coelophysis Dinozord Egg and I told Conner that the Coelophysis was one of the first two-legged prehistoric predators.
Squirtle handed it to me and I thanked him before Kevin & I called him & the other Pokémon back into their balls. I put the egg on the ground and concentrated my telepathic powers into making the egg hatch. The egg hatched and the Coelophysis appeared. He was big, yellow & definitely loyal as the Dino Plate for him appeared on my Dino Morpher and I had him attack Pyrocat.
Tommy called for the Brachiosaurus and it brought the primary Dinozords. We jumped into our zords and had them form the Thundersaurus Megazord. I commanded the Coelophysis to combine with the Megazord and it did. Its head retracted to make its tail longer as its arms & legs folded up. It replaced the Triceratops as the right arm and formed the Thundersaurus Megazord Whip Mode. Pyrocat charged at us and we used the Coelophysis Whip to restrain it. Then we powered up the Megazord to deliver a Thunder Whiplash and destroyed Pyrocat.
A few hours later, I was still a but bummed out about Melanie & my life so Kira decided to stay with me. I really appreciated it. She even helped me cook dinner. I could tell she was amazed at how great a cook I was as I cooked multiple things at once. I cooked huge pots full of chicken soup & meaty ravioli and served it with garlic breadsticks and food for all the different types of Pokémon. For drinks, we served enough soda for a world belchers convention. Kira met the rest of my roommates, even Lauren, as we sat down and we started eating.
She was amazed at how different our powers were & how many Pokémon we each had. I told her that Bonnie Jo, David, Fesha & I were the first four members and Aubrey was our very first recruit. She said it was cool that we’ve dedicated our lives to protecting mankind from anything that threatened it. Including fellow mutants.
After dinner, I took Kira to my office where I showed her something. It was some ideas I had been tossing around for songs and I asked her if she could help me with it.
“Sure. It’ll be cool to do that with you.” she said.
“I even have this idea for a song about friends always being there for each other that we could do as a duet once it’s finished.” I said.
“You can sing?” she asked.
“Yeah I did for a while. I was part of a band until my mutation manifested and word got out that I was a mutant. Long story.” I said.
“Understandable. We can work on it during your break at Cyberspace tomorrow.” Kira said.
“Coolness. Thanks for staying with me tonight, Kira. It means a lot.” I said.
“No problem. You’re my friend. You gonna show me the rest of your place?” she asked.
“Sure. We’ll start with my workshop & the garage.” I said.
I showed Kira my workshop & the garage before I showed her the living room, where we hade a huge entertainment center, & the simulator we had. She was in awe of my trophy room, where I kept stuff from my past Ranger days like my weapons & morphers. She was blown away by all of the Pokémon she saw running around in the backyard and the view of the ocean we had. I showed her the bedrooms of everyone, including our Digimon partners’ rooms, and my room. She said our place was amazing and we hung out in my room for the rest of the night.
