Annette O'Toole all ready plays Kal-El's mom on Smallville. And I see an old friend of Britney Spears is in it.

The latest news about the man to supposedly play Superman has been revealed. Both darkhorizons.com and countingdown.com are reporting that Tom Welling will play Superman in the movie. This news comes from Smallville's Executive Producer Alfred Gough who said the fifth season of Smallville will be the last and that Tom Welling WILL play Superman.

Take this with a grain of salt until we hear a definite announcement from Warner Brothers and Tom himself, but still, if its Alfred Gough making the announcement, then that's not a bad idea. Tom IS young Superman on the show so why now? Hopefully more info will be released soon. Keep your fingers crossed. Tom's my favorite candidate so far and he does have Christopher Reeve's endorsement. Not only that but should Tom get the job, then they could use footage from Smallville as flashbacks when they make the new Superman movie. Like I said, keep your fingers crossed!
