Warcraft Hits 5 Million Mark
Blizzard Entertainment announced that World of Warcraft, its hit massively multiplayer online role-playing game, has surpassed 5 million customers worldwide. The subscription-based MMORPG launched about a year ago in North America, Australia and New Zealand and has since been released in Europe and Asia. The game was launched in Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong on Nov. 8.
Blizzard's announcement coincided with word of its next Warcraft expansion, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, set for release in 2006. The expansion will add new lands, quests, monsters, magic items, spells and abilities, two new player races, a new player profession, 10 new levels of power for players to achieve and more.

When I got Tides Of Darkness, I played it until Six In The Morning that night. I like creating customized scenarios too. Two of which I based on four of the Rangers from Power Rangers Mystic Force.

Warcraft Hammers Bad Players
Blizzard, developer of the hit massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft, has suspended 18,000 accounts for violations of the game's terms of use, the GameSpot Web site reported. That amounts to roughly 200 accounts per day, the site reported.
Most of the suspensions were of computer-run characters made to farm gold and items for resale in the real world. Blizzard is asking legitimate Warcraft players to report suspicious activity.
VU Games recently announced that the game had reached the 5-million player level.

Warcraft: Burning Expansion Due
Blizzard Entertainment announced that World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the latest expansion in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game, will hit stores on Jan. 16, 2007, in North America and Europe. The expansion will be available in a similar time frame in South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore as well, and availability for mainland China and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau will be announced in the near future.
The subscriber base for World of Warcraft has reached a new milestone, with 7.5 million players worldwide, the company said.
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade will enable players to advance their characters up to level 70, unlocking a world of power and possibilities along the way. Additional features include two new playable races (the Blood Elves and the Draenei), flying mounts, new talents and abilities for all character classes, the new jewel-crafting profession, new magical weapons and armor and many enhancements to player-vs.-player action.
The expansion will also lead veteran players through the fabled Dark Portal and into Outland, former homeworld of the Orcs and site of a series of cataclysmic events that helped shape the history of the Warcraft universe.
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade will be available for Windows 2000/XP and Macintosh formats at a suggested retail price of $39.99. A special collectors' edition will also be available at a suggested retail price of $69.99 on both CD-ROM and DVD and will include the Art of the Burning Crusade coffee-table book, an exclusive in-game pet, a behind-the-scenes DVD, two World of Warcraft trading-card game starter decks and three exclusive cards, a map-of-Outland mouse pad and the official soundtrack CD.

WOW: Crusade Breaks Records
Blizzard Entertainment announced that World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the first expansion of its massively multiplayer online role-playing game, has broken first-day sales records to become the fastest-selling PC game ever in North America and Europe. The title has sold a total of nearly 2.4 million copies worldwide in its first 24 hours of availability, the company said.
The Burning Crusade was simultaneously released in North America, Europe, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia on Jan. 16 and in Australia and New Zealand the following day.
Blizzard supplied more than 4 million game boxes to retailers worldwide, and more than 5,000 stores throughout the world had their doors open at midnight to welcome thousands of expectant players.
Day-one sales totals on both continents were similar, with an estimated 1.2 million copies sold on the first day in North America and an estimated 1.1 million copies sold in Europe within the first 24 hours of launch. By the end of the first day of availability on both continents, a total of more than 1.7 million players had already logged in and upgraded World of Warcraft to play The Burning Crusade.
