Title: Matrixing
Description: Why I don't like the term

Hi All,

So I have been hearing (and reading) the term matrixing alot lately. As I was looking over some photos on a out of state website the term came to mind and decided that I don't like the term and here is why (Theory):

We all know that some people are more sensitive to the paranormal than others. Some people can feel, hear, & smell things that the rest of us do not. There are even those who can or claim (no offense intended to those who actually can) that they can see things the rest of us can't. This could also be the case with photographs and videos.

With this in mind, if four out of five members in a group can not see evidance in a photo or on a video than I don't feel it can used as evidance. It can however go into a uncertain catagory with a description of why its there.

EVPs can also fall into this theory. I have heard a couple that I just don't hear anything but noise and I have very sensitive hearing.

So I will not use the term, I will however say that I can not see or hear what is presented.

Well, matrixing actually was an original term used in how audio is dealt with in the brain. It has been applied to the paranormal an in my opinion is a wonderful term. I must disagree with you on the "other people are more sensative" part of your post. If we are all looking at a photograph for paranormal evidence we can only look at the photo itself and see what the camera captured. We cannot read anything into it like a psychic stating that they "see" that this area contains a ghost. That is proof of nothing at all. If you notice, when people see these faces it is always where there is some sort of pattern whether that be in the branches and leaves of trees, their bark, woodgrain, wallpaper, etc. I can look at any given pattern and find something in it. Heck, I even recently saw Tweety Bird in a wallpaper pattern. Does that mean that Tweety died and is now a ghost? No of course not. What happens is that everything our eyes see, need some interpretation from the brain to find something recognizable. Our brains will do this no matter what we are looking at. I even saw a photo taken on a cheap digital camera posted on a message board where one guy saw a dancing clown off to the side of the pic. Come on...that was matrixing to the extreme. Matrixing of the pixelation in the pic.

It is a very good term, people are getting familar with it and it is absolutely factual. Never read anything into photos that isn't really there and be very wary of matrixing.
