Health and Creativity Blessing
By Starhawk, Diane Baker and Anne Hill
In her time, Brigit was treasured as the Goddess of the healing and
creativity. Brigit's day <Imbolc>, which falls in February, our flu
season, is a perfect time to pray for a healthy year. Parents or
other loved ones, holding candles, walk around the children in a
circle, saying:
"Great lady, healer, with this circle of fire
bless the spark of life that burns within these children.
Keep them safe and healthy in mind,
and body in the year ahead.
Burn away any sickness that comes,
let healing come quickly,
all wounds heal smooth and whole.
Shield them from all that could hurt,
circle them with health. Blessed Be."
Ask for Brigit's special attention if anyone needs it:
"Lady, please help Ashley breathe freely and easily,
may air's power bring her calm and vigor."
An adult holding a bowl of consecrated water, or Waters of the World,
walks around the children again, sprinkling water on them lightly,
saying;
"Lady Brigit, Goddess of poetry, song and art,
with this circle of water, bless these children's minds,
let their imaginations draw from your well
and flow with originality.
Bless their hearts,
may their compassion and love speak through their art.
Bless their hands,
may their craft be skillful and productive.
May their work find those who treasure it. Blessed Be."
Ask her to bless special creative projects:
"May the girls' hard work in learning instruments make music they
love."
