Hello! Are there Matrix fans here??? Aside from me, that is. ^_^; What do you like most about the movies? The Animatrix...? and of course, the soundtrack? :D

IMHO, MATRIX ROCKS! XD

minamic - May 26, 2003 12:30 PM (GMT)
Two words:

Neo's coat.

XD

But I think it won't look good on just anyone. Keanu just wears it so well.

When's the Animatrix DVD coming out? June? I wanna have a copy. We saw the preview for the one done by Squaresoft... AIYEEEEEEE!!! It's pretty! ^o^ I'm such a Square fan.

"im not letting go, I LOVE YOU TO DAMN MUCH"

Kyosuke09 - May 26, 2003 10:18 PM (GMT)
Well... the MATRIX Rocked right from the start... that's why people all over the world waited for its sequels... I Really like it a lot! as in... A LOT! And as i see it, there are no "Con points" on this movie; just "Pro points"! And if i have 10 thumbs (which is impossible --; ), i'd raise it all up coz this movie is really really GOOD! With no exaggeration, hyperbole, or whatsoever!

I Like the Fight Scenes the Best... 'Coz, what the heck, it really is GOOD! Especially with the 2 of the best fighting scenes i've seen in my whole life time...(For now)... From the Matrix, where Neo and Mr. Smith shot each other... really close, and never gets hit... (Damn, that was good! :cute: ) And lately... I've seen Neo and tons of Mr. Smith! It was Really cool!!!! Then the Irony is... I Laughed at the very end of the Fighting... i mean... Who Wouldn't... Mr. Smiths looked like a wet puppy when Neo flew away!!! It was Really Funny!

Oh yeah!!! He looks cool in it! Especially when he does that fighting stance.

June 3. I think there are bootlegs being sold in Quiapo. Tee-hee! My officemate downloaded from the Matrix site, but only the first four episodes are downloadable.

Oh yeah!!! Kudos to Squaresoft!!! That's the "Final Flight of the Osiris." One of the must-see episodes. ^___^

ryoshi - May 28, 2003 08:37 AM (GMT)
i bought the Animatrix dvd at greenhills at around P250. I know it's a rip off --; What they told me that it was a DVD-9 disc which I don't really believe. But it's worth it just to see Final Flight of the Osiris. :o It would seem that Square is trying to get back to the CG Movie scene again with this one.

There's a episode there titled "Kid's Story". It explains the story of the kid in Zion who keeps bugging Neo for saving him. The art for that animation is so impressive and unique.

And one more thing... HEY JM!!! yung love of your life na hapon, si Mahiro Maeda, director pala ng 2 episodes sa Animatrix. Yung 2nd Rennaisance na episodes. parang may kamukha ka yata don sa episode na yon. :P

skyjade - May 28, 2003 09:28 AM (GMT)
On an off-topic note, I still can't believe that we actually were within close proximity to Mahiro Maeda when he came here for the AXN-Final Fantasy more than a year ago. And that he gave his personal details to JM

meiko - May 28, 2003 09:37 AM (GMT)
speaking of Zion.....

I'm just curious... well, only one survived and that's the one "infected" by Mr.Smith, right? Him alone? Even the kid who kept following Neo didn't make it? Akala ko pa naman I'd see him in the Matrix Revolutions.

Better believe it. You have pictures and they have videos. ^.^

Meiko: Presumably only him. I find it a little weird actually. Link's wife must've died as well, but I didn't see him show any emotion when he heard about it.

Amen to that!!!

I SO loved the rave scene, though it was quite overdrawn. :D

I also like their martial arts moves and their costumes...

And Trinity rocks.

Speaking of Trinity, I finally got her after my third try in the darn Matrix Quiz you guys sent into these forums!!! Whee!!! Yayness!!! <dances a little jig>

Now that's what I'd call a rip-off. They probably gave you a DVD-5 copy (wc is around 4.5+ GB). A DVD-9 disc should contain 10+ hrs worth of movie, or movies. If its just the Animatrix, then its logical to use a cheaper DVD-5. Anyway, pirates are pirates... -__-

In addition to Mahiro Maede's direction, Yoshiaki Kawajiri of Ninja Scroll fame also directed the 1st Renaissance Chapter.

Staying on topic, what I really liked or digged about the movie is none other than those dread-hairstyled ass-kicking twins! The twins are reason enough for me to watch the movie, that's what I had in mind at first and after watching the movie, I knew I was right...

Nah, they probably didn't. They changed "phase" (solid to gaseous?!) just after the explosion. Besides I think blowing up is a cheap way to die for such awsome characters. I was expecting them to have more air time in the movie.

skyjade - June 2, 2003 06:38 AM (GMT)
*spoiler alert for those who have not watched Matrix Reloaded*

Er, I don't know if it's just me, but why is everyone assuming that all inhabitants of Zion are dead? Correct me I'm wrong but wasn't the military forecast for the Zion invasion by the sentinels 10 hours or so? And if all of Zion were destroyed, why would the remaining crew of the Nebuchadnezzar (<---did I spell this right?) be returning to Zion?

minamic - June 2, 2003 07:22 AM (GMT)
hmm...

At the end of the movie, I remember that they were saying that when they went back to look for survivors, they only found one? So I'm assuming that means Zion was destroyed. I think I'd better watch it again. ^^;

The Twins

They didn't die (i hope). They were shown "phasing" while they were being blown high up into the air after their car exploded.

In an interview posted before Reloaded was shown, the Rayment brothers said that they will also be fighting Keanu Reeves in the film with special sabers with rotating blades. We didn't get to see this in Reloaded, so I'm assuming that they'll still be in Revolutions... or they might have been misleading the interviewer on purpose since everyone connected to the trilogy was supposed to be hush-hush about the whole project until it was shown.

The machines haven't been able to reach Zion yet. What they were referring to were the 5 ships which were meant to launch a counterattack against the Sentinels digging their way to Zion. The operation failed when Bane/Smith sabotaged it and launched a premature EMP wave against the squiddies. The entire fleet and its crew were destroyed, save for Bane/Smith who was left in an unconscious state.

Lang'ya... sa lahat na lang yata eh may kamukha ako... --;

I saw the preview for the Animatrix films while in SM Manila. I just got one question: in one of the shorts (I think it was renaissance), how come the setting is Medieval Japan? It's got tall Japanese buildings, ninjas, and other Japanese whathaveyou's. It's in 2D, so it's not The Final Flight of the Osiris. Is this the one Maeda directed?

Bad (or good. I guess it depends on how you look at it) news. It doesn't end with Revolutions. The Matrix saga continues with The Matrix Online... it's an online game which will be launched during the first quarter of next year.

Methinks that's the PROGRAM episode. Duo and the girl with white afro-like hair (forgot her name) are inside the Matrix, medieval time simulation. Duo tries to convince the girl to stay there (in the Matrix) and forget about the truth (Machines, Zion, plugged humans, etc)... She refused, though. ^^; It's my next fave episode, next to Final Flight of the Osiris. ^_^

I did. I bought a pirated DVD in greenhills early this week and watched the whole thing. The whole series opened my eyes and answered some of the questions RELOADED werent able to answer.

The animations were soooo cool and the storylines were something that jumped out of HEAVY METAL magazine.

My most favorite is BEYOND. It gives a rough explanation why the TWINS exist. My next favorite is same as Meiko's, which is PROGRAM, who's animation is the same as VAMPIRE HUNTER D, and directed by JM's heart throb MEADA.

I also like the anime of that Runner Guy (forgot the title at the moment), where he made an unusual way of "waking up to the real world".

Watch them, its only P90 to P100 a DVD in Greenhills. No VCD copies yet.

Yowzer.

Meron ako sira naman... Badtrip ;_; ;_; ;_;

Gusto ko na talaga mapanood. Most specially yung Beyond, from JM's explanation its looks as if dun ako maeexcite e, twins e.

And im still keeping my fingers crossed hoping to see the twins again in action. Sabers? KEWL! :D

minamic - June 7, 2003 05:43 PM (GMT)
My brother has the Animatrix DVD! Pirated nga lang. ^_^ The mini-documentary on anime and anime in the Matrix is great, and they even interviewed some of the japanese directors involved in Animatrix. After that, I watched Second Renaissance. Nacurious ako kung sino dun kamukha ni JM. LOL! XD

Anyway, 2nd Renaissance was depressing. You go through this rollercoaster ride of emotions --- in SR1, you feel for the machines; in SR2, you feel for the humans. Even though it's their own fault and their own karma, humans don't deserve that kind of treatment. It's... it's... INHUMAN!

But then again, we are talking about machines here so the term actually applies and my argument becomes irrelevant. ^^;;;; Yare yare.

The image of human batteries is haunting. -__- I didn't like it at all.

meiko - June 8, 2003 02:31 PM (GMT)
SPOILER ALERT!!!!! uh, sorta... ^^;

Q... how did Tank die?? He survived in the first movie, right??

ryanclive - June 8, 2003 08:51 PM (GMT)
Btw, pahirit lang. May Animatrix na ko on VCD! Courtesy of Yahiko (Thanks Ralph!) :)

officer_fujita - June 17, 2003 10:31 AM (GMT)

Meiko:

Tank survived in the first Matrix film... but he wasn't included in Reloaded anymore because the actor raised his talent fee after the first matrix film to levels which were unacceptable to the producers. He was also accused of terrorism after he tried to crash a party for the Matrix cast.

I just watched Animatrix :D

I liked each of the short films, especially 2nd Renaissance II, World Record, Beyond, and Kid's Story.

There are a lot of characters which are cosplay-able: Jue, Cis, the agents from world record, and the lead characters from Beyond and Matriculated.

SPOILERS

I don't get the point behind The Final Flight of the Osiris... Jue had to drop a message in the Matrix about the machine's activities on the surface, right? But in Enter The Matrix (Game), Thadeus was shown talking to Niobe and her crew about the message dropped in the Matrix- why didn't Thadeus just tell Niobe about everything if he was able to contact her anyway?

Also, Do all humans belong to the same Matrix? I just noticed that the Matrix in Detective's Story (with that 30's feel) differ from the one we saw in the Matrix film, The Final Flight of the Osiris, and Kid's story, which was in a more contemporary setting (late 20th L.A.?). Same goes for Beyond (set in a Japanese suburb) and World Record (who's Agents look funny and cool at the same time)

skyjade - June 17, 2003 02:08 PM (GMT)
On the Animatrix VCD:

Just saw original VCD copies being sold in Tower Records. So this might mean that somewhere out there the pirates have managed to make clearer copies of the VCDS.

On the Animatrix DVD:

Toby just showed me a short animation feature that he found in the "Execution" section of the special features of the Animatrix DVD where the makers of The Final Flight of the Osiris used the model of Aki Ross and gave her a crew cut (they also put her in a black leather suit to make her look like a Matrix character) then made her fight a sentinel/dikya :P
