Title: neo in matrix reloaded
minamic - May 23, 2003 12:41 PM (GMT)
Does anyone know what cloth Neo's coat is made of? Is it wool? I saw his poster over at Megamall and his coat looks like it's made out of the same cloth that suits are made of, but more fiber-y. I'm not sure... polyester? Or something else? ^_^
acewildgal - May 24, 2003 04:23 AM (GMT)
it looks like wool or a woven woolen material. it looks like really thick and "fibery" (for lack of a better word). aliw sobra yung trenchcoat its made from the neck to the ankle tapos chinese collar....pero i could imagine how much time it takes to put that on with all those buttons...
how about penelopes dress? yung model/wife? whats THAT cloth?
battlechaser - May 24, 2003 06:27 AM (GMT)
hmm.. i believe those were just body paint later edited in some superior editing software. ^_^""

The same material made for surgical gloves (but not rubber latex. I forgot what it was called), which is why it's transluscent (a bit)

Vinyl? ^_^
Edit: I searched for Matrix costume sites and they use vinyl for Trinity's costume. But most of the readymade ones I've seen look really tacky and crumpled.
Can stretchy satin be used for that dress?
Edit: I think a thick shiny kind of spandex, too.

Eww... latex? But that's so hot. (And I mean hot as in, sweaty kind of hot... er... never mind... --;)
*imagines her surgical gloves being used for a dress*
I think the spandex will be okay, or white shiny vinyl (if there is such a thing.) Who's planning to cosplay Penelope? ^_^
officer_fujita - May 26, 2003 12:55 AM (GMT)
Dammit, I wanna cosplay as one of The Twins.

What's stopping you?
Let's do a Matrix cast... come on... you know you want to... B)
Just want to confirm this... is VINYL really the material for Trinity's costume? Vinyl looks thin... in the poster, the material looks thick. Ummmm... what's the material they used for Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman? I think it's the same one.

I have work on saturdays. ;_;
And yes, I think Trinity's costume is made with Vinyl... maybe with fillings like the one Mits used for his violet costume.

Ewww... I'll look "PADDED". --; Hmm... I'll look for cloth in Divi when the rain stops this week and then I'll see. Is there an alternative for vinyl? Synthetic leather perhaps? Or is it not shiny enough? Or not stretchy enough?
Thanks, minna, for the advice. ^_^ Too bad you have work on a Saturday, JM. :(
l_i_g_a_y_a_h_a_r_u_k_a - May 26, 2003 07:22 PM (GMT)
I could be Penelope... if I wasn't so lazy to get my bum off this computer chair and work it out in the gym. -__-
But I'll be putting on a bodysuit underneath all those "things" she wore ... I don't think I can bear showing THAT much skin! --;

ganun pala....i guess its layers of latex so hindi masyadong bakat yung...er....never mind :)
for trinitys dress...i guess yung fabric for that is similar to the fabric that could be used for space channel 5's ulala. shiny na parang waterproof....kung sa shoes its named charol...but i wouldnt know if that could be used as a fabric for a dress.
yes, also similar to catwomans dress. i think its made partly out of plastic...so expect that dress to be really hot too.
i wish i could pull off neo's coat. sugoiiiiiiii :wub: but it would really cost me if i have it made at arthur's or king philip...or basta those shops that are expert in making coats/amerikanas.
i could imagine you pulling off one of the twins....with a white mop for dreadlocks :lol:

acewildgal - May 27, 2003 02:33 AM (GMT)

Er, is the name of the lady-in-latex Penelope of Persephone? Anyway, could her suit probably be polyurethane or something like that? Wouldn't it feel like you're being cling-wrapped? --; Just a thought.

It's "Persephone"... our bad. ^^;;;
I checked out Almond's link (thankies, by the way ^_^) and according to the costume designer, they used latex for her dress and sprayed it with something so it would look glossy. Then they had to make three copies of it just in case it tore. ^^; For Trinity they used PVC and patent leather (ack! where am I gonna find those cheap?)
acewildgal - May 27, 2003 11:10 PM (GMT)
yes... her name IS persephone --; --; gomen gomen. i think if she moves too much more it WOULD tear apart...
im not really sure...ive seen it done before in a costume shop, that to make the cloth shiny, they spray pylox (your regular pylox) on it...then i guess rub the paint a bit to polish...it really looks awesome...
thinking about that, you could prolly make something like trinity's costume...get black softskin leather and then spray it with black pylox...would turn it to something really really shiny and body clinging :)

Yep. The designers said they used patent leather for the closeup shots, but for some of the scenes (action scenes I guess) they used PVC. They mentioned vinyl, too. So maybe it's a combination of all of those? Oh well, will just try to see what looks good. ^_^

And I won't have to worry about getting wet! ^o^ Whether I use PVC or patent leather, they both don't absorb water!
But man am I gonna stink! Will have to think about using a sando underneath all that... ^^;;;

Uh, how?
I've worn both ... and both of them, to me anyways, are equally hot...
Not to mention that I've experienced having them stick to me to the point of being nearly irremovable...
Leather and latex are SO not good to wear if you have hyperactive sweat glands like I do... --;

its plastic i guess :lol:
