I got myself a DVD copy from Virramall yesterday. The copy is nice (although it skips near the end of the film) and has english subtitles. It also has some nifty extra features.
The film itself is very good without being too complicated. Said to be based on the life of its director, it is about four friends who grew up together in the port city of Busan, but were driven apart after they went their own separate ways after highschool. Two went on to study college and became distinguished professionals (one of them, Sang Taek, narrates during some points of the film) while the other two became gangsters and later, bitter rivals because of the groups they belonged to.
The film's pace and mood can be a roller-coaster ride; shifting from being funny to dramatic to gruesome every now and then. The characters are also well-designed; showing the many layers of their personality as the film progresses, and portrayed with excellence by very talented actors. Watch it if you get the chance. :)
