Whoops, wrong forum. Can you move this to the Water Cooler forum?

This is the Water Cooler.
I also would like to apologize for the election of this cretinous ape-man to our Presidency, and would like to remind the world that he only won due to a favourable and dubious Supreme Court ruling combined with an arcane technicality in our otherwise excellent constitution. Really, we're perfectly aware he's a mendacious sack of shit, or at least I am.

Too bad the Dems are gonna get their asses kicked come 04. All Bush has got to do is cook up another war scare and land on another aircraft carrier.

Less than 50% of the population voted for him in 2000 anyway. I think it's time for an amendment in the US constitution. I believe, and this is just what I think, it may not be right, that the reason the current voting system is in place is because at the start of the union, each state had more power and the centreal government was weaker. So naturally, when more than 50% of the state population wanted one candidate, the entire state voted for him. Most people didn't care too much about politics anyway at the time. However, now the central government is much stronger and each invidividual states weaker, it makes more sense to count each Democratic and Republican representative (?) in each state. As a result, the candidate with the popular vote will win, at least more likely than the current system.
