Title: An apology

The Shaft - March 26, 2004 09:33 PM (GMT)
Greetings to the great people of Canada.

I'm htz3 of The Shaft and newly elected Secretary of Foreign Affairs. My purpose for being here is to first apologize to you for the actions of chicken pannnnts. What this person did was completely unacceptable. The people of the SP had no part in the actions taken by this person.

I also wanted to apologize because I was one of the 2 people who had endorsed this person. I did not know they had planned this action. As soon as I found out what they had done I removed my endorsement.

My hope is that we can repair the damage that this rouge nation has caused.

There were many screw-ups made during that period which I also regret happened.

If there is anything you want to know about what happened in the SP I would do my best to answer.

One last thing I am here with the approval of our delegate who feels much the same as I do about this situation.

When the FS was in our region defaming our delegate you came to our aid for which we are all grateful and we hope that we never have to but would come to your aid if the situation were reversed.

It is my understanding that your delegacy will change hand on Monday. We would like to invite your new delegate to come and visit our region. I have also invited bweezy to visit us as well.

htz3 of The Shaft
Secretary of Foreign Affairs

Your ambassador reminded me of your offer, and I gave him a very frank response. However, since this was in a public forum, i guess the people of Canada deserve my to have my message to Mavenu made public. Keep in mind that my views are mine only, and are not those of the Canadian Government, of which I am no longer a part of. Also, I "cleaned up" this version a little:

I'll be frank, Mavenu. If it were up to me, we'd break off all ties with the SP. I have not enjoyed dealing with the SP. I have been personally character assassinated by members of your region. Your predecessor as ambassador, PoJ, either intentionally or unintentionally totally misrepresented the Canadian position during the Chickenpants crisis, leading to the escalation of an already volatile situation.

When it was all said and done, I carried out a full investigation of all tg's, pm's and posts that I made, and discovered two instances of ambiguous language which didn't help the sitation. As a result, I appologized to my cabinet, your cabinet and my entire region for a few minor missteps. Meanwhile, I got nothing in return from PoJ or any member of the SP for some clear breaches in logic and fundamental misunderstandings on the SP's end (caused mainly by PoJ). This also didn't sit well with me. As Canada took the time to do a full investigation and give you our findings, appologizing for our errors, the least the SP could have done was do the same thing.

However, I guess the SP doesn't ever make mistakes or need to appologize, even when the evidence clearly shows that mistakes were made and appologies are in order. After all, whenever anything goes wrong, its not the SP's fault, its always Harkinnen, or the NPO, or the shady figure in the grassy knoll...

The vote to end ties with the SP which took place early in March was 3-2 in favour of breaking off ties with the SP (with one absention). I switched my vote when my likely successor was one of the two votes against breaking off all ties. I did this only to make sure Checkers would be able to try to mend fences during her term, which started today.

Now, this latest crap with a possible intelligence breach caused by someone in your camp has made me even more angry. Also, the tired line of "it's Harkinnen" or "it's the NPO" or "They're all against us" is not playing well here. Everytime something goes wrong in the SP, blame is always placed on other people. This complete inability to take responsibility for its own failures is a real turn off.

It's high time the SP finally took responsibility for its own actions, and admitted that there is likely a rat or two within its own government, instead of always blaming the same scapegoats.

In short, if Checkers would like to visit as sitting PM and Delegate, more power to her. I, however, will have nothing to do with the SP. I have had more than enough bad experiences with the mismanaged and paranoid region that is the SP, and don't need to expose myself to any further bad experiences.

Thanks for your consideration though.

The letter is accurate (cleaned up means the spelling). I have forwarded the orignal letter to SOFA (Shaft) of the South pacific, as is. I have also posted parts of the second paragraph of the letter on TSP forum, here.

Mavenu

I thank you for your efforts. It is too bad someone in the SP didn't take this sort of initiative 4 weeks ago, when it should have happened in the first place.

However, as they say, better late than never.

The Shaft - March 30, 2004 07:15 AM (GMT)
I'm sorry it has taken me 24 hours to get here but I had some RL issues.

We are trying to find out about this nation. Your new delegate has sent me information that I requested and this may lead something.

As to what happened in the past I couldn’t comment on because I was not an official in the South Pacific at that time. I was just elected to the position I hold now last week. I did as my first post on these boards offer an apology. You may feel this is to little to late and if this is the case then there is nothing I can do about that.

You say we want to blame others. Well I did send you a Personal Message last night telling you about an idea I had and was personally checking into. If this constitutes us blaming someone else then so be it. We are checking into many things some of which I am not at liberty to divulge until we finish with the investigation. This country is not in any department of the South Pacific Government. Beyond that I am open to any possibility. Technically this doesn’t fall into my department but I am working with justice and intelligence to try and find the answer.

One major problem we run into is our 3-strike rule. This country has not broken any of the laws we have in the South Pacific. These laws were set up to protect the nations of the South Pacific from random ejections. I'm sure you follow the laws you have set up and we in the South Pacific do the same.

As to the screw-ups from the past bweezy again I apologize for them. There is a new Foreign Affairs Department in the South Pacific. PoJ will have to speak for himself. I will tell you he resigned from his post here because he thought he had made the situation worse and not better. I will be taking as active a role as possible and will be posting here if we have anything new or just to check on any replies to this post.

I truly hope it doesn’t end this way but that is your decision. We are doing all we can to get to the bottom of this.

How is this relevant? Has anyone asked that you eject anyone in this case? Why would you bring up a seemingly irrelevant set of laws in this instance? Unless I'm missing something, YOUR THREE STRIKES LAW HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SITUATION.

As far as I can see, the task is simple. Who is NCA, who does he/she work with, why is he/she seemingly loyal to the SP, and why has he/she taken our intelligence information.

THE THREE STRIKES LAW HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS.

If you're going to "get to the bottom" of things fine. Go right ahead. But DO NOT MUDDY UP THE SITUATION BY BRINGING IN CONCEPTS THAT ARE NOT RELEVANT TO THE SITUATION AT HAND. They will only serve to confuse the issue further, and will only serve to enrage me further. And believe me. After a month of SP bungling, I'm already plenty enraged.

The Shaft - March 31, 2004 12:59 AM (GMT)
Your right I should never have brought the 3 strikes rule up.

bweezy - March 31, 2004 03:22 PM (GMT)
Just out of curiousity, wouldn't it have been nice for the SP to have given the common courtesy of warning us before sending their MINISTER OF DEFENCE on to these forums?

I for one want to let the representatives of the SP know that if this tactic was meant to intimidate, it isn't working on me. It is only hardening my resolve. I suspect that I'm not the only one.

Checkers McDog - March 31, 2004 09:01 PM (GMT)
Bweezy, I'd like to remind you that several of our cabinet ministers are registered on the SP forums. I would think it's just out of curiousity.

bweezy - March 31, 2004 09:04 PM (GMT)
I would like to think that too. HOwever, when I registered in the SP forums last October (as ambassador mind you) I tg'd all relevant parties and made a post letting the region know my reasons for being there.

It would have been nice if such a high ranking official had shown the same courtesy.

Checkers McDog - March 31, 2004 09:09 PM (GMT)
Well, I think it would be hypocritical to criticize, considering that we have our foreign affairs, and justice ministers registered on thier boards, and I had registered as MRA.

And I had never overtly told them why I was there (though it did come up in conversation).

Maybe he just wanted to monitor the situation.

bweezy - March 31, 2004 09:11 PM (GMT)
Maybe. But we don't know for sure. And that stinks.

I will let this issue die though. Maybe I'm being too harsh. I likely lack the objectivity anymore to look at this situation with clear, unbiased eyes, given my past experiences with the SP.

mavenu - March 31, 2004 09:31 PM (GMT)
I have sent him a TG requesting his confirmation of his registration here. Needless to say, I was surprised to see his name when i logged on here today.

CM has posted on the south pacific forum, only to correct the fact that i managed to say she was male. (I still can't believe i did that again :( )

Freedom_Fighter - April 1, 2004 12:36 AM (GMT)
I am here just to see what your region is about for myself. I am here as a private citizen of The SP. I am quite disturbed by the comments of Bweezy. I hope that he is not representitive of the region. From what I've seen he is not.

daasfnord - April 1, 2004 03:59 AM (GMT)
Hey - let's not get too mad here guys. The idea is to resolve the issue at hand, not make personal attacks.

Bweezy hon, take a deep breath for me please? Let's not get too angry.

And To Freedom Fighter, I'd like to extend a welcome and hope that you feel as welcome here as possible.

Checkers McDog - April 1, 2004 04:02 AM (GMT)
Thanks for that daas, it was needed :)

Thank you for the welcome. And thanks to Checkers as well. I just wanted to come here for myself to see what your region was saying. I've been getting reports from other cabinet members but wanted to see for myself. I must say that I was deeply offended by Bweezy's comments and accusations. However I will not hold that against the region as a whole.

daasfnord - April 1, 2004 04:29 AM (GMT)
*grins at Checkers* ;) No probs....

Freedom Fighter, this place is quite good when you look around and meet everyone. I'd recommend heading up to the introductions forums and tell us a bit about yourself.

Checkers McDog - April 1, 2004 04:31 AM (GMT)
Yup, I'd love to see an intro :)

Also, feel free to jump in on any other conversations.

Checkers McDog - April 1, 2004 05:23 AM (GMT)
Bweezy, I suggest you take your own advice, you aren't looking at this situation objectively.

Maybe you didn't make accusations, but they were implied. Or what you said at least could be have been intrepreted as accusations.

And you were probably offended by things on the SP boards, you still went back.

As a point of clarification, are you saying you are no longer the Secretary of Defense of the South Pacific?

If you are in fact the Secretary of Defense, then you are not a private citizen, but a government official of another region.

Secondly, by stating that you "hope I am not representative of the region", then you are potentially a foreign government official who, in my view, is appearing to tamper with the domestic affairs of another region, which, from what I know about diplomacy, is clearly improper.

If you are curious about Canada, great. This is a fantastic place, a region that I am very proud of, and I encourage you to explore all you want. I suspect that you will learn some very valuable lessons by watching this region in action.

But if you are going to be here while a member of another government, please refrain from tampering with the domestic affairs of this sovereign region. Doing so is clearly out of line and you should not be doing it.

Let me now appologize for putting you on the defensive earlier. Now knowing that your intentions in this region are pure, let me welcome you to the region. If you have any questions about the historical aspects of the region, please don't hesitate to ask me. Useless trivia and historical data are my areas of expertise around here.

If you have questions about government policy, each of our ministers has their own forum in the threads above.

daasfnord - April 1, 2004 05:30 AM (GMT)
*hugs Bweezy* You're so cute when you're feisty ;)
