Title: Cabinet Statement

420_Celebrants - January 16, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
Hello member Nations of NS Canada,

Hello to anyone else happening upon this letter. *waves* Hello to the chairs that you sit on ... may they be comfortable and not covered in gum.

It has been awhile since I have written a Cabinet report and I apologize. I am writing this now without prior consent from Cabinet, so I won't go into massive detail about anything ... other than what is already known.

The Invision Free server crash really screwed us up. We are still finding issues that are popping up that make no sense Administrator wise, but are totally invisable on the Admin Control Panel to fix.

Cabinet, for the last part of last term and so far as to date, have been busy working to rectify things. We are awaiting the Deputies to join us in BCD to possibly weigh in on issues at hand and then we will be presenting you with a comprehensive Cabinet Report that will shed light on a lot of issues at hand.

Please be on the look out for this report as it will be a very important report to read.

In the mean time, know that your Cabinet has been busy to keep things up to speed and fix problems as best we can as they arise.

We've also had the issue of the spammers who were posting some really bad stuff and the banning of our proposed Deputy Prime Minister, just days before Vote of Confidence elections.

Within the next few days, you'll be able to understand just what Cabinet is up against this term and how much we're going to need your help.

Thanks for being the greatest Region in Nation States. We have the greatest members and the greatest friends and we're going to do what we can to keep it that way.

canada6 - January 25, 2007 03:17 PM (GMT)
Can we expect to receive this report you've mentioned, any time soon?

EDIT: Has the DoI been active lately?

420_Celebrants - January 25, 2007 06:57 PM (GMT)
The Report should be available by the weekend. We're discussing some items in Cabinet that needed to be viewed by Redundancies and the Deputies and have input submitted before we released any information to the Region.

It just wouldn't be fair for the Region to know Cabinet stuff before actual Cabinet members had a chance to get in there and see it themselves.

There was a slight delay in getting Red and the Deputies into Cabinet due to RL time constraints on both Carb's and my behalf.

As for the DoI, Hamsters has been inactive due to her computer dying and even then, the server crash has made a lovely instance occur that doesn't allow Hamsters to even see the DoI forum ... so suffice it to say ... there hasn't been much going on there lately, other than some random smatterings of recruiting.

canada6 - January 25, 2007 07:32 PM (GMT)
And any guess as to when we can finally see a complete cabinet? Because I'd sure hope that a full cabinet could have it's input before making any big decisions.

420_Celebrants - January 25, 2007 09:22 PM (GMT)
Currently, we have as full of a Cabinet as it looks like we'll be getting.

Every Minister is sharing the MoD duties to make one SuperMoD.

If we have any interested candidates that have the proper time to fulfill the role, we'll definitely be more than happy to look into the feasibility of dropping the duties on Minister-izing them.

And really ... any "big decisions" are decided by the whole Region ... full Cabinet or just shy of one.

Ess - January 25, 2007 09:32 PM (GMT)
I volunteered for a position, but apparently I'm not wanted for the job. :(

Ess is sad.

Well this is news to me. First off I'm disappointed that the cabinet would decide to violate the constitution so blatantly without informing the region.

It is the Prime Minister's constitutional duty to fill vacancies in cabinet. Period. Not wait for volunteers.

This cabinet is concentrating the admin authority that should belong to three members into two and Also concentrating cabinet privileges that should belong to six members into 5.

This is inconstitutional and totally unacceptable. I'm very disappointed in all of you who agreed to this.

4. One Cabinet Role. No person may hold more than one Cabinet position, whether it be under different nation names or not. Where a person finds themselves holding multiple Cabinet positions, they shall resign from all but one position. The Prime Minister shall appoint a Deputy Minister who shall assume the position of Minister and Cabinet member until the next election. At the Prime Minister’s option, the Prime Minister may call a special election to fill the vacant Cabinet position.

It is hard to accept that one-third of a term should pass while a cabinet still fields an incomplete roster (one minister and three deputies), although I was willing to believe that the Prime Minister or cabinet had not yet decided. That the cabinet would agree to this current state of affairs, is for me, unconscionable.

As a citizen interested in the general welfare of our region, upon which my concern has been increasing, I cannot help but to ask that cabinet completes it's duties in filling the current cabinet vacancy as soon as possible.

Pending the cabinet's decision I will be creating petitions requesting recall votes of each and every individual Minister that agreed to this.

Just because you are not aware of it does not make it not so.

canada6 - January 25, 2007 11:14 PM (GMT)
I'd seriously like to know what on earth is going here and what would possibly lead the cabinet to snub Ess, shut down a ministry for a term, and not even bother to inform the region.

420_Celebrants - January 26, 2007 01:00 AM (GMT)
I seriously have absolutely nothing to say towards your hearsay and innuendo and misplaced reasoning.

canada6 - January 26, 2007 01:25 AM (GMT)
420. Try to picture this from a member's perspective.
I'm acting upon the limited information I have.

1. What I know: A ministry vacancy hasn't been filled.
2. And What has been disclosed. It appears to me that the cabinet's actions are in violation of the constitution.

Alarms went off when Ess revealed she was turned down. Given the circumstances I don't think It's excessive to be protesting and asking for answers.

420_Celebrants - January 26, 2007 01:29 AM (GMT)
All I will say is this ... Ess never said that she applied for the MoD position. She said she applied for A position.

So you ASSUMED *something* there.

420_Celebrants - January 26, 2007 02:00 AM (GMT)
I would like to clarify what I earlier said, as I have been told that it came across differently than I meant it to.

Cabinet has not decided to do away with the MoD because we can't find someone to hold the Ministership.

Due to the fact that we do not have one person available to host the Ministry apparently, Cabinet is jointly ensuring that the MoD duties are looked after, co-inciding with our own duties for our respective Ministries. We effectively have five ad-hoc MoD's at the moment.

We are actively looking for a full time MoD and would appreciate it if anyone would volunteer for the position.

I understand how things look ... but please realize that we are doing everything by procedure ... it's just taking awhile for other reasons that sadly cannot be pubically spoken of at the moment due to the fact that we don't have a full Cabinet.

It's a sad catch-22 that I am caught in here.

We are doing all we can to fill the position and deal with other items at the same time.

I apologize to Canada6 for pointing my anger towards him when it was meant for something completely different.

canada6 - January 26, 2007 02:23 AM (GMT)
No apology necessary. It was unfair to have you alone as MoRA as if being alone on the receiving end of my protest.

Here I was waiting for cabinet to complete it's roster, thinking it should have been covered by now, and waiting to start delivering some ideas in the HoC and then one day I discover that cabinet had no intention of filling the vacancy, when it should have been the priority from day one.

I blew a fuse when apparently volunteers had been turned down.

Ess - January 26, 2007 08:35 AM (GMT)
Just to clear something up - I pm'd Carb and volunteered for the MoD position when there were still 2 positions open. I also mentioned someone else's name in regards to said position, but apparently he isn't interested. Red has filled one position, but the other sits open. It'll have to remain that way as far as I am concerned as I no longer wish to be a part of cabinet. This is not sour grapes so much as not wanting to be a part of a cabinet where at least one member apparently doesn't want my services.

Liarg - January 26, 2007 11:13 AM (GMT)
I feel your pain Ess.....

buys Ess a drink....

been there, done that...except in my case it wasn't the polititians that didn't want me...it was half of the region.....

Parrrrtay - January 26, 2007 02:20 PM (GMT)
I also sent Carb a PM stating that my time was limited but Ess and I would be willing to work together to watch the endorsement counts and cover the MoD position, he replied that he thinks he is going to have to hold a 'Special Election' (as laid out in The Consitution)
Haven't seen that happen yet.

You haven't even tried all the resources available to you.
QUOTE (The Canadian Constitution)
