Title: What is up with the Leafs?
Description: Damn Toronto!

Karma Cops - March 20, 2004 08:52 PM (GMT)
Man! Whats up with the Leafs!?! Ever since they got Francis they've been sucking it up. Brutaly! And why the hell did they not jump on Kolzig? Belfours back is wonky and they dont get Kolzig? Whats wrong with them?!?!

Caer Rialis - March 21, 2004 05:52 AM (GMT)
Don't complain

(I root for the bloody Blackhawks . . .has an Original Six club even been so pathetic? Bill Wirtz has killed hockey in Chicago)

Karma Cops - March 21, 2004 06:06 AM (GMT)
How true you are. And yay! Toronto killed the Avalanche! Way to go Nolan! Glad I picked you in my pool.

Oilers Fans - March 22, 2004 02:52 AM (GMT)
Toronto killed the Avenlanche, and Wade Belak almost killed someone in front of the net. Where have I heard that before....

Yeah well, that's what happens when your average age is like a million years old. :P . As far as Belfour goes, I'm sure he'll be ready for the playoffs, and probably play great in net like he always does. Why pick up Kolzig? do you want to spend that kind of money on a goalie who's only gonna be your backup when it comes to the crunch? I know i sure as hell wouldn't. Listen, the leafs will probably play the sens in the first round beat them and end up going to the conference finals where'll they'll lose to Tampa, Philly, or Boston. And when that happens, then you can start complaining. Now, that that's been said....

Here We Go Oilers, Here we go (Clap, Clap)

Well said. Now that the Oilers are only one point out of the playoffs, everyone over here is jumping on the bandwagon. I am always the first person to point out that I stuck with them through it all, compared to some who got desparate enough to cheer for Calgary.

CALGARY, THAT CANNOT BE TOLERATED!!!!

But in any case, the OILERS are in eighth place of this mourning, and having been playing the best hockey i've seen in a long time. As long as we don't play you know who in the playoffs, we should be allright.

Karma Cops - March 24, 2004 05:54 AM (GMT)
Oilers? You have got to be kidding me. Anyways, yea, but what happens when Belfours back goes out on him? Then what? Trevor Kidd? Ugh.

bweezy - March 24, 2004 03:00 PM (GMT)
The leafs sure looked good last night, didn't they?

*snicker*

Usual Leafs. Just when you start getting excited they go and shame themselves...again. At least Ottawa lost too.

saskatoon saskatchewan - March 24, 2004 04:30 PM (GMT)
and who do you cheer for Karma Corps? I'll just assume the Flames :P Not there gonna get out of the first round, I garantee it.

anyways, well, what can I say, the Leafs just plain old suck. Really now, I don't think they have any talent to get to the cup finals. Experience yes, talent, no. Maybe if they had traded for Jagr, Bondra, or even Nedveed, I'd give them a better chance. But who's there top point getter? Mogiliny? Sudin? I think that's the top of there talent right now. Although, i'll say that they do have a strong defensive core, which will get them probably past Ottawa in the first round, manybe.

What a cremation. Tampa palyed incredible.

Karma Cops - March 27, 2004 09:18 PM (GMT)
And then Toronto killing Boston. And serousily saskatoon, no offence but if I created a thread about Toronto, why would I be a Calgary fan? And I would say Calgary has a much better chance then freaking Edmonton. Calgary has actually had some constiency this year and played like a team, completely unlike Emonton.

Oilers Fans - March 28, 2004 02:37 AM (GMT)
Lets not say things that we can't take back... :P

Calgary may be consistent, but consitantly bad.

Karma Cops - March 28, 2004 09:03 PM (GMT)
And yet they've managed to stay ahead of the Oilers, practially all season. But yea you know that means nothing at all...

Caer Rialis - March 29, 2004 10:09 PM (GMT)
I wish I had an NHL team in Chicago :(

bweezy - March 29, 2004 10:11 PM (GMT)
Well, the Chicago Wolves aren't a bad AHL franchise...

Caer Rialis - March 30, 2004 12:28 AM (GMT)
bweezy, I said NHL . . .it is tough when the best pro hockey team in town is an AHL franchise

There go the Hawks, the wimpy Blackhawks

The Shaysta - March 30, 2004 12:30 AM (GMT)
The leafs are terrible. Go Habs

The Shaysta - March 30, 2004 12:31 AM (GMT)
Chicago is also terrible

QUOTE (The Shaysta @ Mar 29 2004, 07:31 PM)

Tell us more.

Actually, I was just thinking about my poor BlackHawks. A team with such past heroes as Stan Mikita, Bobby Hull, Tony Esposito, Denis Savard, Jeremy Roenick, is no reduced to sheer garbage.

Bah, the Wirtz's have done their best to ruin hockey in Chicago.

bweezy - March 30, 2004 05:40 AM (GMT)
Not to mention that they traded Phil Esposito before he hit his prime, then accepted Bobby Orr when he had no knees left. Throw in the fact that they let Bobby Hull go to Winnipeg of all places, and you have the makings of a cursed franchise. But what to you expect from a city that has also brought us the Cubs and the White Sox?

Caer Rialis - March 30, 2004 06:03 AM (GMT)
Now now, don't be drawing my beloved White Sox into this fray ;) :D

Yes, the BlackHawks. Under the present owner, no home games are shown on TV in the Chicago Metropolitan area, b/c, according to Dollar BIll Wirtz, it would cheat the season ticket holders. As if the utter drek the club is serving up these days isn't cheating. Of course, Dollar Bill is a progressive compared to his old man. Arthur Wirtz didn't allow the first period of home games to be played on the radio, for the same reason.

Gotta love the way they try to build a fan base, dontcha?

Are you kidding me? Torontos done a hell of alot better then freaking Montreal.

bweezy - March 31, 2004 12:50 AM (GMT)
Yeah, a whole 8 points, despite the leafs having a far higher payroll and far better team on paper.

i completely agree. The leafs are better on paper but they really aren't better in reality. Every game they rely on one member of the team to carry them to a win, mainly ed belfour, but montreal puts up a team effort night in and night out.

Oilers Fans - March 31, 2004 06:59 PM (GMT)
The Leafs are always the better team than Montreal, but every year they choke in the second round. EVERY YEAR DAMMIT!!! Leafs fans, get ready to hide your faces this year. :ph43r:

bweezy - March 31, 2004 07:09 PM (GMT)
Hmm. Well, one thing can be said about the Leafs. They didn't choke in St. Louis last night...

The leafs aren't always better than the Habs. Think about this the leafs have not won the cup in 36 years and during that time the Habs have won it 10 times. The leafs right now are better statisticly but not overall if you average out the years that the Canadiens were better than the leafs and there has been many of those years.

We don't hide our faces, we just quietly stop wearing the jerseys, and take the flags off our cars. :D

Hagersville - April 1, 2004 12:02 AM (GMT)
Ah Leafs don't know very much just let them get messed up more it just makes you think what the next screw up could be

Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland) - April 1, 2004 12:34 AM (GMT)
The Leafs are an average team with hot streaks. Their trouble is: you can't buy heart.

The Shaysta - April 1, 2004 01:55 AM (GMT)
Really I can't stand the leafs and i wish the team would fold and move to the states. That I would greatly enjoy.

That'll never happen, the leafs have the largest fan base of any NHL team.
It's a fact:
"The Toronto Maple Leafs is the number one hockey brand in the world averaging 19,242 fans per game." - MLSEL

Theode the Great - April 2, 2004 02:25 AM (GMT)
If anything we should pack up some American teams and move them to Canada, there they will actually get some respect and a credible fan base from people who enjoy the great sport of hockey

Oilers Fans - April 2, 2004 03:08 PM (GMT)
Exactly. Teams like Nashville and Phoneix where hockey is just for NASCAR fans to come out of the shade. If they were in Winnipeg or Quebec City, they would be real teams.

I would tend to agree with you. Howevermuch of the reason that teams left quebec and winnipeg was the CDN Dollar and the number of fans in attendance. Season tickets let alone tickets for one game are out of reach for the average family. That is if they can get tickets.

Leaf Game

Tickets 75 each
Parking 25
Dinner 50

Just the basics the cost is $375 for a family of four. THese tickets are not very good. A friend bought 2 Platinums for 300.

In the smaller cities something has to happen to bring the prices down, salarys? whatever. I agree that the small canadian cities could make it work but to make it financially viable somethings gotta give.

I'm sorry here but the leafs are the most hated team in the nhl according to a resent sportsillustrated poll and the canadiens are the most liked according to another poll and also it's not the leafs that have the highest attendence average in the nhl it's the habs. They Have 17 consecutive sellouts and 23 overall this year plus there hasn't been less than 19,500 fans at the bell centre at one time this year.
