Title: Australian Ambassador's Report

bweezy - March 20, 2004 08:03 PM (GMT)
I'll try to report back once per week:

Population: 158
Current Delegate: The Almost Comatose Republic of Retirement Villas (48 endos)

What's up: The Australians are currently in an election campaign. IT seems they, like us, had a period of minimal activity off-site (with a possible split - it seems some of them went and formed "New Australia" and recently came back). It seems they are now ready to rebuild themselves through a new government.

They are making strides in diplomacy, trying to establish embassies with other regions based on real countries. So far, Canada is the only real country with a presence there. Lady Rebels Lounge and the South Pacific are also present, though not nearly as active as Canada.

My report to Australia was as follows:

Population: 312 Nations
Current Delegate: Bweezystan (68 endos)

What's up:

-Bweezystan will be stepping down March 29th to allow fresh blood into the delegacy;
-Bweezystan will end off his term by making an official "state visit" to the region of Alberta followed by a "whirlwind diplomatic tour" of Canadian themed regions;
-Canada is in the midst of a population explosion (up by nearly 20% in the last 4 days) following a surprisingly efficient recruiting drive;
-Election campaign is slated to commence March 28th, with elections April 8-11;
-New Ambassadors are about to be appointed to the South Pacific and Australia;
-Canada may be asked to intervene as a mediator in the region of Alpineholm, which is in the midst of a power struggle.

bweezy - March 26, 2004 04:44 PM (GMT)
This is my weekly report that I left with the Australians today:

I will try to stay in the habit of producing weekly reports about the happenings in the Region Canada. This will serve two purposes:

1. It will ensure that there is a fairly regular stream of content here ; and
2. It should keep any interested Australians up to date with what's happening in the Great White North.
---

Canada's Current Population: 330 Nations
Canada's Current Delegate: Bweezystan (73 endorsements)

Events this Week

1. Canada's population hit an all time record of 330 Nations on Thursday morning. This resulted from a targetted recruiting drive which took place a week ago.

2. Canada openned up three embassies for its foreign ambassadors. The North Pacific, The South Pacific and Australia now have their own Embassies (forums) to call home.

3. Two days after openning their embassy, the North Pacific's Ambassador announced he was resigning all his positions with the North Pacific government, including his position as Ambassador to Canada. Blackshear's sudden resignation has caused the North Pacific government to fall into crisis. The North Pacific have stated they do not expect to assign another ambassador to Canada in the near future as they try to deal with the Vacume caused by the loss of Blackshear's services. Canada is suspending diplomatic relations with the North Pacific while they attempt to reorganize themselves.

4. After much hard work, Canada's Minister of Defence, Carbanousa, unveiled Canada's new and improved Dogs of War Defence System, and rolled out a blueprint for an Intelligence Service.

5. Despite an erroneous English report to the contrary, Canada remained neutral when hostilities broke out between the English and Irish in the region of the UK. Canada offered mediation assistance. Thankfully, it appears that the Irish and English settled their differences on their own. During the UK crisis, Canada's Dogs of War went on "Red Alert" for the first time in its history.

6. At the UN, Canada's site-wide poll showed that a majority of Canadian nations who cast a vote on the Current UN resolution were opposed to it. The reasoning was the controversial section 5 of the resolution, which would compromise nations from adopting Government run Universal sytems for health care, auto insurance, daycare, education etc. after the effective date of the proposed UN resolution. Accordingly, by constitutional requirement, Bweezystan's vote was cast against the resolution.

7. Canada appointed Saskatoon Saskatchewan as its new Ambassador to the South Pacific, to replace Boards of Canada, who has gone AWOL.

8. Canada has offered to exchange ambassadors with two regions. The identities of those regions will not be made public until they have responded to Canada's offer.

9. The civil war in Alpineholm, a region with an indirect connection to Canada, came to an end when occupying forces from the TAG alliance were repelled. Canada played no role in this conflict, choosing to stay neutral.

That pretty much sums up the last week in Canada (it was busier than usual. Things aren't usually this exciting).

Australian Ambassador's Report - March 26/04

Australia is currently undergoing elections. At Lantis was acclaimed as Foreign Affairs Minister. As ambassador, i have congatulated him. Election results for contested positions will be announced in my next report.

Australia has encountered a population spike of fifty nations this week. I can report that some of that increase has to do with a bizarre phenomenon whereby someone created many puppets (likely over a dozen) that looked suspiciously like the region names of key member nations, like the founder and the Intel Minister. It has been learned that the founder was given control of these nations by the creator, and they were sent to Australia for safekeeping. They are expected to die off in 28 days.

Australia remained Neutral during the UK crisis.

England has now opened and embassy in Australia.

In light of Freedom Fighter's appearance on our forums, I've made the following posts in Australia and England, just to let them know that the SP situation is brewing:

Just a quick interim report.

You should all know that relations between Canada and the South Pacific are reaching new lows. There is a scandal involving leaked intelligence that had a connection with a nation resident in and allegedly loyal to the South Pacific. There is no proof that the SP government officially sanctioned such a mission, and the SP's official line is "we don't know who was behind this".

However, this morning, the SP's minister of defence suddenly arrived on to our forums, without warning. We have not been made aware of why he is there, or what his motive is. Given his position in the SP government, Canada will likely be on heightened alert in the near future.

Obviously, should it come down to it, a region of 330 is going to have a difficult time defending itself against a region of 8000.

There is no cause for immediate panic. The SP keeps telling us they do not have imperialist aims. However, the ominous presence of the SP's chief defence officer within our region, without warning or permission, is not a positive sign.

I'll keep Australia updated should anything further come of this.

Checkers McDog - April 2, 2004 01:20 AM (GMT)
Bweezy has resigned as the ambassador to Australia. A new one shall be announced shortly.

Theode the Great - April 2, 2004 02:03 AM (GMT)
This is such a shame.

Checkers McDog - April 2, 2004 02:13 AM (GMT)
I agree. I've appealed to Bweezy, but he's made up his mind.

Checkers McDog - April 2, 2004 11:53 PM (GMT)
So Bweezy, will you be resuming your position as australian ambassador?

bweezy - April 3, 2004 12:07 AM (GMT)
No. I won't be.

Checkers McDog - April 6, 2004 09:12 PM (GMT)
I'd like to announce Molsonjoint as the new Canadian ambassador to Australia. Congrats. :)

Carbanousa - April 6, 2004 11:11 PM (GMT)
Congratulations Molsonjoint. See you at the bar.

Molsonjoint - April 23, 2004 12:20 AM (GMT)
I have received a warm welcome from everyone in Australia and am greatly enjoying my position there.

Their transition of government has been remarkably quick and efficient, so you'll be gald to know democracy is alive and well in the Region of Australia.

They are quickly expanding their diplomatic core to a number of new regions.

This rapid growth of diplomacy has developed into a discussion on the potential benefits or pitfalls of opening up a International Treaty organization of regions from real life members of the Commonwealth. The Australia site already has a lively and perceptive debate going in regards to this issue. Currently it appears that there is a fairly even split for/ against. Their members bring up several very valid points, Concerns mainly serruonding the political power of an Int. org. over their sovereignty, and pointing to the fact we already maintain close ties with England and one another. It wikll be interesting to see how our leaders examine this potentially complicated issue.

Molsonjoint - April 27, 2004 08:44 AM (GMT)
There appears to be some tension amongst a few of Australias most active and high ranking members, Morporkistan, has apperently dissapeared, and Chocoholia is very upset about whatever is going on, hope they all get to the bottom of it soon they both appear to be vital members to the sites opperation. I'll keep an eye on it and hope it all sorts itself out. it appears it may be from some sort of hacker or security breach, but that may just be early speculative reports from Australias members hard to say without being so nosy as to be rude.

Molsonjoint - May 11, 2004 06:14 PM (GMT)
I've mainly left the Australians alone to try and deal with there internal matters in a internal manner. Currently it is difficult to say what the situation there is. I'm therefore awaiting word from Australia concerning said issues, and of course am always appreciative of any direction from the Office of the Minister of foreign Affairs.

bweezy - May 11, 2004 06:27 PM (GMT)
Although Im not MFA, you may want to post an update about Canada for them. I believe I have a recent one that you can use (posted in the England Ambassadors thread just below this one)

Molsonjoint - May 26, 2004 05:12 PM (GMT)
The australia site appears to be haveing difficulty as well. The site has only been down for as few days so I'll keep an eye on it for a little while longer before becoming concerned. And I can't garauntee the problem isn't on my end. I'll keep you posted,.

Molsonjoint - June 4, 2004 07:03 PM (GMT)
I've reestablished communication with the Australia site and all apppears well down under.

Molsonjoint - June 14, 2004 05:25 AM (GMT)
I've been raelly busy lately and it doesn't appear that it will let up any time soon. So if you could find a replacement for me to Australia I'd appreciate it.

Beaver-Country-Canada - June 14, 2004 11:32 PM (GMT)
I'll post it up, Molsonjoint. Thanks for the warning. Sorry to see you go!

bweezy - September 3, 2004 07:36 PM (GMT)
How are things going in Australia? Anything newsworthy going on?

Blackshear - September 3, 2004 08:00 PM (GMT)
Former delegate Retirement Villas keeps nipping at Choc's heels endorsement-wise which has led to some controversy. RV says he doesn't want the delegacy, not everyone believes him. Outside of that, it's been really quiet.

bweezy - November 5, 2004 08:49 PM (GMT)
This was posted by Australia in their embassy in England. Apparently we are not important enough to get an update of our own, so for those who are interested, here is what Australia has been up to:

Australia as of November 5, 2004

Well, it seems that everything has calmed down in the region. Chocoholia, and others, have finally returned after a self-imposed political exile. Cremorne is still founder, after a few gritty arguments. Retiremnet Villas is still UN delegate, though is preparing to hand over the position back to Chocoholia. The current population of the region stands at 192 nations. Regional elections are soon to occur, which may lead to further stability in the region.

General Summary

Founder: Cremorne

UN Delegate: Retirement Villas

Population: 192 nations
