Title: Omnivorous/Marcus

Omnivorous - February 22, 2006 06:37 PM (GMT)
(sorry if this is in the wrong place)

hi my name is ellen; i'm marcus' fiancee of a few months and a bit.

i regret to inform you that when we were 'romantically holidaying' in scotland my husband-to-be was seriously injured in a car accident, which has resulted in him being admitted to hospital. he broke his hip and fractured several vertebrae in his neck and lower back and has had several operations on both. unfortunately, he is very unlikely to come out of hospital in the next couple of months, let alone weeks - therefore he has no computer access (seeing as he can't get out of bed or even roll over).

he said that he is missing your company and he is sorry that he can not fulfil his position, but he hopes that he can return and will be welcome to do so as well.

i'll try to act as some kind of ferry go-between if you wish.

:o Please give our regards to him, and our hopes for a speedy recovery! I'm very sorry to hear that :(

Carbanousa - February 22, 2006 07:07 PM (GMT)
Thank you for taking the time to drop by and leting us know Ellen :).
Please give Marcus my best, wish him a speedy recovery and not to worry about things here, as the most important thing is that he recovers fully.

Daemon - February 22, 2006 07:17 PM (GMT)
Holy smokes! Get better Omni.

Judith Gap - February 22, 2006 07:19 PM (GMT)

Please pass along my wishes of a speedy recovery and tell him that ... well ... honestly, I don't really know what to say. Life sometimes really blows, but everything happens for a reason.

Take this opportunity to REALLY get to know each other. Some traits really shine through in tough times. I'm sure you'll both remember just why you thought the other person was perfect to spend the rest of your lives with.

OH - also, tell him that I really don't care how long it takes him - he's welcome back here whenever he feels up to par. And I still expect a piece of Canadiana from him. LOL

king_girl - February 22, 2006 10:47 PM (GMT)
Ellen, thank you. Everyone should have such a great person to share life with. Please tell Omni he is in our thoughts. God bless, you both.

SensitiveMadScientists - February 23, 2006 12:21 AM (GMT)
My condolences regarding Marcus' injuries. He will be in my prayers.

Get Well Soon!

Ess - February 23, 2006 12:42 AM (GMT)
So sorry to hear that, Ellen! :(

Thanks for letting us know!

*sending good energy*

As is a fairly common saying about this game, "RL comes before NS". His health and recovery is far more important than his position here. All the best to Omni, and I hope he gets better really soon.

TinyVillages - February 23, 2006 06:12 PM (GMT)
I am very sorry to hear about Omni. Being in the hospital for that long revoring will be difficult, but it could be so much worse.

If it weren't so serious, I'd ask just what you two were doing in the car to cause th crash, but being a gentlemen I'll just leave it alone. ;)

Thank you, Ellen. He's lucky to have someone going through this with him.

Omnivorous - February 23, 2006 07:40 PM (GMT)
he told me about the antics of some members here...

(deep breath) a drunkard was driving on the wrong side of the road as we went along a country lane after a meal in a pub if you wanted to know.

he is actually rather embarrassed by all this (i could tell by his red face - or was it the swollen neck after surgery?) but sends his endeavouring love to you all. hopefully there will be an update soon on how long he will remain in hospital. otherwise, i would think maybe 3 to 4 weeks as a guess, and he might return home in a wheelchair - that could be funny, considering the stairs and the narrow hallways.

and when he comes back, he'll be dying to get on to talk to you all (no rather horrible pun intended)

canadiana? if i knew what that was i would search through his documents :P doesn't mean i won't anyway :P

LOL - search away - I suspect there isn't any. I know how happy he was to have been going on that vacation - twas all that was on his mind (other than you).

The request was for the future when he can return. He'll hopefully understand the joke.

BTW Ellen - have you ever forgiven him for knocking his wardrobe over ontop of you?

  I hate drunk drivers. Tell Omni not to be embarassed -- it obviously wasn't his fault!

Thanks for the updates, Ellen, we really appreciate them! *hugs and sends comfort*

Omnivorous - February 23, 2006 07:45 PM (GMT)
don't mention the wardrobe...

(he also asked me to say this)

what would happen regarding the cabinet thing upon his return?

king_girl - February 23, 2006 07:48 PM (GMT)
*whispers to ellen*

You are welcome to play all the threads. It is fun to have you around.

(I don't know about the cabinet, but someone will tell you soon ;) )

good as i've started already

Cabinet position has been transferred over to Redundancies - thank Marcus for appointing a deputy when he did.

Honestly though, by the time he will get back to the boards from what you say, a new term will have started.

He is more than welcome to run for office when he returns or ask to be Deputy somewhere.

I already expressed my concerns "Mom".

Stop trying to make trouble.

SensitiveMadScientists - February 24, 2006 12:23 AM (GMT)
More concern from another forum. Thank you for the updates.

Wow, that's really tragic. Please send all of our condolences and hopes for a speedy and full recovery and the resolve to make it through this difficult time for all of his family and friends. -Jesioneka

Oh My God. Poor Guy. :-/

Pass on my deepest sympathies and best wishes for a swift recovery. Whilst it is little consolation i am sure, i will make sure that he sees his prize money from the Maple Cup topped up a little as a gesture of good will. -Sinn Féins Ireland

Omnivorous - February 24, 2006 07:17 AM (GMT)
i take it they are from ten thousand islands - i'll go see if i can find his password for their forum...

thanks for your kind words; now you can decide his boredom factor: marcus has asked me to bring some library books so he doesn't look at the ceiling the whole day. what books do you recommend? I'm not a big reader so I have no clue.

a miscellany; don't give somebody lying on his back peas in his food - as he is using a mirror (the plate is on his chest) to see what he is forking, you can hear him cursing as he chases them around the edge of the plate... THEY JUST DON'T LIKE TO BE EATEN!

420_Celebrants - February 25, 2006 04:02 AM (GMT)
Robert Heinlein books - especially Stranger In A Strange Land, The Cat who Walks Through Walls, Expanded Horizons, I Will fear No Evil ... actaully - any really.

Douglas Coupland - Girlfriend In A Coma, Miss Wyoming.

Neil Gaimin - Good Omens, American Gods, Anansi Boys.

A dictionary.

thanks for the suggestions - i don't think that the first title of the second author would be very apt considering his state.

has anyone read anything by bill bryson? i read an article of his a while back and was wondering if he was any good.

i don't suppose that he would be able to read a dictionary - he'd start saying words to me i would not understand...
