Title: Random Chat

bweezy - February 25, 2004 05:02 AM (GMT)
I'm creating this thread. I often notice a half-dozen people here with nothing to say.

If you are on the boards, and just want to informally chat, just post a "hello" note in here, I'm sure friendly chatter will soon follow.

Then again, I may be wrong, and this thread will quickly dive to the bottom of this forum...

Canadiiya - February 25, 2004 05:53 AM (GMT)
Hello...>_>...I like...kitties...lots and lots of kitties...>_>...*scampers away to play with kittens*

Random enough? ^_^

bweezy - February 25, 2004 02:01 PM (GMT)
Yuck. Kittens. *achoo*

bob - February 25, 2004 03:01 PM (GMT)
Canadiiya you should become one of the crazy old people with cats everywhere like the crazy cat lady on the Simpsons., or that one house on the simpsons when they were looking for a house there was one inherited by cats, wouldn't you want your to cats inherit your house so people can see how crazy or odd you were?

Cheese rolling.
Who in their right mind would want to run down a hill after cheese?
I'd rather jump in a bath full of mouldy jelly and start snorkeling for buried treasure. If that bored me, I'd probably do something else.

random chat, eh?

I might as well show you what car I want to get when I get my license later this year:user posted image
It's a 2005 Ford Mustang. They totally redesigned it, to make it look more retro, and I love it. And it's in my price range.

my legs hurt

dunefish - February 25, 2004 08:54 PM (GMT)
Well here's some stuff I like:

Penny Arcade

Ctrl-Atl-Del

Megatokyo

The first two are about video games and computers while the third is a little more, shall we say, story driven. Of the three Penny Arcade is the funniest but also requires the most knowledge about games. And to get Megatokyo you have to read the previous 525 strips. So really only CAD is accessible to the average non-geek person.

dunefish - February 25, 2004 09:02 PM (GMT)
Oh, and sweet ride Checkers.

Canadiiya - February 25, 2004 09:23 PM (GMT)
I read Penny Arcade and CAD, both are very good :)

I think I already am a crazy cat lady...we have four cats, and foster cats for a local animal rescue agency (we currently have 3 foster kittens)

Melissa - February 25, 2004 09:56 PM (GMT)
I LOVE cats also. I only have one kitty, but she is my baby!!! I think we should experiment with genetic modification in an attempt to breed a cat that stays a kitten its whole life, that would be awesome!

If anyone wants to see what kind of car I'm getting when I can afford it, go to this link:

I hope it works

Strawberry flavoured lip gloss on girls is pretty cool.

Carbanousa - February 26, 2004 12:23 AM (GMT)
Mmmm... kind of reminds me of the Capri Checkers.

"Strawberry flavoured lip gloss on girls is pretty cool. "
So is vanilla...

Damn! I've just burned by keyboard again. This time on 'n'. Lots of dimples to boot. It's some kind of crazy touch-type navigation that isn't quite perfected yet!

Nice Car, hope you can afford it soon and not kill yourself with the power and speed.

Last summer while at work I had to stop at the mall. To my surprise there was a viper with the top off with an empty parking spot beside it. What luck. Guess where I parked as I had not seen one up close. I got out and took a closer look. After about a minute the alarm started to chirp. I then backed away and it stopped. I decided to take another closer look so I leaned my head over the door to look inside when the full alarm went off. It was so loud it scared the crap out of me. I then walked away real quick. The mall security was on its way in minutes with the owner behind them. I did n't stick around to explain.

She's a beaut, eh? I figure with my projected teachers salary, and living in a van down by the Old Man River, I should be able to afford it by the time I am 75 years and 6.5 months old...that's if I save ALL of my money...or did I carry the 2 wrong? lol

I think that in your situation, with the car alarm, they would probably find me IN the car... :)

(I supposed I could just marry a rich guy...any doctors, lawyers, brain surgeons in the forum? )

bweezy - February 26, 2004 01:51 PM (GMT)
I'm a lawyer. I'm already taken. Besides, I can't afford that either... :)

Tsk, tsk.

"If you marry for love you'll never be poor."

You know, unless you lose your job and the collection agencies start showing up and a repo guy takes your car.

Huh, I guess you could be poor anyway.

I have a huge project due for my photography class tomorrow, and I haven't started....
Anyone have any ideas that I could use for a theme I want to explore for the semester? something along the lines of beauty, or innocence, but not so lame and overdone

HELP!!!

:(

Melissa - February 26, 2004 09:13 PM (GMT)
Where do you live Checkers?

Checkers McDog - February 26, 2004 09:19 PM (GMT)
just outside Toronto

Micon - February 26, 2004 09:57 PM (GMT)
Checkers

Why not try the beauty of the City. I recall you are from TO. Focus on the aspect of thebeauty of the concrete jungle. From my sid e of the Lake you can see the cool skyline skydome, CN tower etc. Go from that angle. Just a thought.

Checkers McDog - February 26, 2004 10:11 PM (GMT)
I was actually thinking of doing that before...but there's a few things wrong with the idea...
cityscapes done by amateurs always end up looking lame...not bad, just uninteresting....and personally I'm really not a fan of cityscapes
also, we're going to be given a lot of projects (which my teacher refuses to clarify before we pick a theme, which sucks), where just buildings might not cut it

that actually gave me a pretty good idea: city life, that way I could incorporate that into it but have much more leeway when it comes to subject matter
thanks micon :)

I'm still open to more suggestions, if anyone's got them

Micon - February 26, 2004 10:17 PM (GMT)
I was not think specifically of city scapes. Very lame and unless you have an amazing camera it just won't work. The city, maybe some small part of the achitechture, a different view, shot that most people don't see. What do you see in TO. I see a mess (no offence cause I live in Hamilton and have heard them all) As a TO resident there must be some thing you enjoy. Think outside the box.

I had a University course where the parameters were not given. Best learning experience I had.

Good luck.

My favourite part of the city: Kensington Market...but I've already photographed the hell out of it

Melissa - February 27, 2004 12:19 AM (GMT)
Checkers,

It's always kind of interesting to photograph people; showing contrasts like homeless people vs. big-time businessmen, or children vs. the elderly. That's just something I kind of find interesting, and I'm sure there's an enormous variety of people in TO.

Checkers McDog - February 27, 2004 01:00 AM (GMT)
Melissa - that's exactly what I want to do with the city life thing....but a problem still exists with that: people don't like being photographed...but I think I might be able to pull it off

Yeah, that is a bit of a problem... are you going to be publishing these pictures anywhere, or are they just for your project (personal use type thing)?

Checkers McDog - February 27, 2004 02:39 AM (GMT)
It's just for the project...and I know what you're getting at;
people will mind less if it's for a project, than if it were to be published, but the problem with that is, if I ask them if I can take a picture of them (which they'll probably agree to), they'll lose their natural posing. Candid shots would be much better for a theme like this.
