My favorite quote of JT's.... "Who's yer daddy?"  :hide:

Daemon - July 7, 2005 06:13 PM (GMT)
Aside from water, I shall need 200 bullocks, 500 pigs, 100 quintals of salt, 40 tons of flour, ten tons of sugar, five tons of tobacco, one ton of coffee, the juice of 40,000 limes and, um, are there any wines to be had here?

Ess - July 7, 2005 06:14 PM (GMT)
Did someone say 'wine'?

Or as Jt has said: "Instead of a "Club" why don't we all just hang around and party and be silly?

I was more interested in the limes and the salt

 WOW!! I am really touched.

Thank you all so much. I guess I didn't announce publicly that I had to turn down the offer. Once my emotions were removed from the equation, it became quite obvious that I got this offer a good 10 years too late. :(

But what the heck, any excuse for a party!! Let's just call it a "we didn't get rid of the DOM after all party.

KD, by all means cut the cake. And SLICE the cheese. How about a marguirita?
:D

But WHY is the rum gone????

*clears throat*

The sea was sapphire coloured, and the sky
Burned like a heated opal through the air;
JT hoisted sail; the wind was blowing fair
For the blue lands that to the eastward lie.
From the steep prow JT marked with quickening eye
Zakynthos, every olive grove and creek,
Ithaca's cliff, Lycaon's snowy peak,
And all the flower-strewn hills of Arcady.
The flapping of the sail against the mast,
The ripple of the water on the side,
The ripple of wenches' laughter, JT at the stern,
The only sounds:- when 'gan the West to burn,
And a red sun upon the seas to ride...

A Song for you...

The Saucy Sailor

Come my own one, come my fair one,
Come now unto me,
Could you fancy a poor sailor lad
Who has just come from sea.

You are ragged love, you are dirty love,
And your clothes smell much of tar,
So be gone you saucy sailor lad,
So be gone you Jack Tar.

If I am ragged love and I am dirty love,
And my clothes smell much of tar,
I have silver in my pocket love
And gold in great store.

And then when she heard him say so
On her bended knees she fell,
I will marry my dear Henry
For I love a sailor lad so well.

Do you think that I am foolish love,
Do you think that I am mad,
For to wed with a poor country girl
Where no fortune's to be had.

I will cross the briny ocean,
I will whistle and sing,
And since you have refused the offer love
Some other girl shall wear the ring.

I am frolicsome, I am easy,
Good tempered and free,
And I don't give a single pin my boys
What the world thinks of me.

kana da - July 7, 2005 06:37 PM (GMT)
Well, okay, I thought that it was supposed to be males who rase toasts, but if you want me to, I will.

In the storms of life, everyone needs someone to help you steer your boat to calmer waters, and to celebrate with you when you reach those calmer waters. To JT, our experienced sailor in the storms of life!

Come all ye young fellows that follow the sea,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
And pray pay attention and listen to me,
Give me some time to blow the man down.

I'm a deep water sailor just in from Hong Kong,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
if you'll give me some grog, I'll sing you a song,
Give me some time to blow the man down.

'Twas on a Black Baller I first served my time,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
And on that Black Baller I wasted my prime,
Give me some time to blow the man down.

'Tis when a Black Baller's preparing for sea
to my way haye, blow the man down,
You'd split your sides laughing at the sights that you see.
Give me some time to blow the man down.

With the tinkers and tailors and soljers and all
to my way haye, blow the man down,
That ship for prime seaman on board a Black Ball.
Give me some time to blow the man down.

'Tis when a Black Baller is clear of the land,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
Our Boatswain then gives us the word of command
Give me some time to blow the man down.

"Lay aft," is the cry,"to the break of the Poop!
to my way haye, blow the man down,
Or I'll help you along with the toe of my boot!"
Give me some time to blow the man down.

'Tis larboard and starboard on the deck you will sprawl,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
For "Kicking Jack" Williams commands the Black Ball.
Give me some time to blow the man down.

Pay attention to order, now you one and all,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
For right there above you flies the Black Ball.
Give me some time to blow the man down.

*Wipes the tears from his bearded face. Grabs his concertina.*

OK, everybody sing along with the chorus!!

In Amsterdam there lived a maid
Mark you well what I say!
In Amsterdam there lives a maid,
And this fair maid my trust betrayed.

Chorus
I'll go no more a rovin, with you fair maid.
A roving, A roving, since roving's been my ru-i-in,
I'll go no more a roving, with you fair maid.

Her eyes are like two stars so bright
Mark you well what I say
Her eyes are like two stars so bright,
Her face is fair, her step is light.

Chorus
I'll go no more a rovin, with you fair maid.
A roving, A roving, since roving's been my ru-i-in,
I'll go no more a roving, with you fair maid.

I asked this fair maid to take a walk,
Mark well what I do say
I asked this maid out for a walk
That we might have some private talk.

Chorus
I'll go no more a rovin, with you fair maid.
A roving, A roving, since roving's been my ru-i-in,
I'll go no more a roving, with you fair maid.

Then I took this fair maid's lily white hand,
Mark well what I do say
I took this fair maid's lily white hand
In mine as we walked along the strand.

Chorus
I'll go no more a rovin, with you fair maid.
A roving, A roving, since roving's been my ru-i-in,
I'll go no more a roving, with you fair maid.

Then I put my arm around her waist
Mark well what I do say!
For I put my arm around her waist
And from her lips snatched a kiss in haste!

Chorus
I'll go no more a rovin, with you fair maid.
A roving, A roving, since roving's been my ru-i-in,
I'll go no more a roving, with you fair maid.

Then a great big Dutchman rammed my bow
Mark well what I do say
For a great big Dutchman rammed my bow,
And said, "Young man, dis bin mein vrow!"

Chorus
I'll go no more a rovin, with you fair maid.
A roving, A roving, since roving's been my ru-i-in,
I'll go no more a roving, with you fair maid.

Then take warning boys, from me,
Mark well what I do say!
So take a warning, boys, from me,
With other men's wives don't make too free.

Chorus
I'll go no more a rovin, with you fair maid.
A roving, A roving, since roving's been my ru-i-in,
I'll go no more a roving, with you fair maid.

For if you do you will surely rue
Mark well what I do say!
For if you do you will surely rue
Your act, and find my words come true.

Right-o CrAzY!

I知 sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea
I致e got to be free, free to face the life that痴 ahead of me
On board, I知 the captain, so climb aboard
We値l search for tomorrow on every shore
And I値l try, oh lord, I値l try to carry on

I look to the sea, reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy, some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever, so the story goes
But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold
But we値l try best that we can to carry on

A gathering of mermaids appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said
They said come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with us
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with us

I thought that they were mermaids, but to my surprise
They climbed aboard their banana-mobile and headed for the skies
Singing come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with us
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with us
