Title: Staff positions
Description: Join Foreign Affairs and see the world

There currently is no process for hiring ambassadors or establishing embassies.
So to start I thought I would let interested nations post their desire to join Foreign Affairs by replying to this topic.
It is my expectation that the deputy minister would be choosen from among the pool of Canadian ambassadors. It may take me a little while to find out who I am most comfortable with.

I currently have a puppet nation in the USSR, if you do not have any ambassadors currrently in that region.

You bring up yet another good point, which regions should we establish relations with? Would you be kind enough to give the the 20,000 foot view of what is going on in the USSR?

I'm currently the Envoy to Greater Nova York. I talk to New Cyprus or Midwest Balka and prowl the forums.

As you all know I am currently envoy to the SP, however this situation is open to review should you think that appropriate.

I'm a contact for the Urbanites and Portugal. I'd like to hopefully pass my Portugeuse portfolio to someone who has an understandign of Portugeuse.
I'm also interested, due to m linguistic background, in forming a relationship with Quebec.

Bweezy you raise an interesting point; the seperation of powers. Based on the personnalities involved I don't have a problem with you being ambassador to a region.
However, would that region possibly get the wrong idea if the ambassador to the region is also in the cabinet? I'm not sure it's a big deal, but as FA I think I should raise the issue. On the other hand, having the skills of the nations capable of getting into the cabinet as resources is very appealing.

my issue here is that we are likely going to be understaffed. if we cut cabinet out of embassy positions, it doesn't leave too many people left to fulfill that function. That's why I think we should allow cabinet to participate as ambassadors, on condition that they make it clear to the other region that they are not only an ambassardor, but a cabinet member back home.

HB
As the dignitary currently in The North Pacific I am willing to continue with that role. If there is some one else that you wish to take on this role by all means let me know. If another nation wishes to take on the role of the NP Ambassador/Dignitary there is no problem. Let HB know.

Well, there really isn't much happening in the USSR right now, there is talk that there might be a civil war of some sort however, there really isn't anything worth paying attention to in that region. A few countries are having internal squabbles that's it.

I'd like to ask the question of nations acting as ambassadors for Canada, how often should you report the current status of the region you are assigned to?
hudson bay - February 13, 2004 09:27 PM (GMT)
I am very honored to announce that Canadiiya has agreed to become the Deputy FA Minister. I feel confident that they will be a great addition to the ministry and will serve Canada well. Please welcome them aboard!

I'm thinking that a weekly roll call would be good. Even if there is nothing to report, at least we'll know we're all still active that way.
