Title: Region Crashing
Description: Invading

Sparta Territories - June 16, 2005 08:03 PM (GMT)
This is for defense only. :Canada: :Canada:

Liarg - June 16, 2005 08:10 PM (GMT)
Invade other regions for our own defense. Are you running a high fever???

Judith Gap - June 16, 2005 08:15 PM (GMT)
As a member of the sovereignty party, ummm, no. To invade a country for our own defense seems like political involvement for self interests.

hudson bay - June 16, 2005 08:16 PM (GMT)
If it were not for the newbie tag under your name one could make an arguement that this poll, in this region, is flame baiting.

Also if you don't mind would you remove the four letter word from your avatar (we have many members that are under age); thanks...

Liarg - June 16, 2005 08:18 PM (GMT)
They may be a newbie here, but I seriously doubt that they are new to the game.....

Beat me with a herring if I am wrong..... ;)

Judith Gap - June 16, 2005 09:59 PM (GMT)
What an odd and cool expression! Can you tell I'm fascinated by linguistics? It's really an occupational hazard.

I stand by our Minister of Justice on that. If necessary, harsher measures can be taken.

Well, you know, I am a cunning linguist!

hudson bay - June 16, 2005 11:32 PM (GMT)
Hey now.... :eyebrow: :P

Well I hope our new friend, Sparta Territories, isn't going to ignore my request to tone down their avatar. That would not be a good way to win my support.... <_<

... how is this flame baiting? It's a valid area of discourse. While I am comfortable with the logic that has been used in the policy decision against military involvement, I support question and discussion of it.

Sparta, my man, the reasons can be broadly lumped into two groups: pragmatic and idealogical. Chief among them:

Pragmatic: we decided to stay out of the way of this element of the game. Much of our citizenship is attracted to the stability and safety that Canada offers. To become involved in war means that we draw the attention of the bigger fish in the invading pool. We don't have the resources to both wage war and maintain an effective defence againt said fish.

Idealogical: we are trying to emulate Canada as closely as possible in terms of spirit and form. We don't believe in war for the sake of war, nor inflicting our views on other regions.

There are other reasons, but these are the main ones for me.

EDIT: Yeah, remove the F-Bomb. I'm sure that I've dropped it now and again, but let's limit the youngin's exposure to it, at least from this source.

That's meant in jest. As the polling so far indicates, asking us to invade other regions has close to no support (I didn't even bother to vote so you could add one more no if you want to).

Daemon - June 17, 2005 10:56 PM (GMT)
Cabinet decided to remove the avatar after deliberation. A PM has been send to inform Sparta of this.

Sparta Territories - June 17, 2005 11:36 PM (GMT)
I am sorry about the avatar.....my bad for not reading the rules. I am sorry. As for the poll, I am just saying that certain regions, in my opinion, violate to rules of Nation States. For example, the region of Nazi Europe. That is a region based on hatred. That region I would say Canada should invade.

Almonaster - June 17, 2005 11:44 PM (GMT)
If there are violations of the NS rules, then they should be reported to the Mods - that's what they're there for. Only they can remove the guilty individuals from the game. The only thing we can do is disrupt the running of the rgion, which affects the innocent as well as the guilty. Furthermore, you can't get your point across effectively by embracing the sort of activity you are trying to condemn.

Judith Gap - June 18, 2005 05:19 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure invading another region just because they embody what we hate is a good reason to invade. A region based on hatred is a choice of the members involved, in that specific case. While that is not what I believe a region should be founded on, I'm not sure I have the right to impose my beliefs on them. Except, when human life is put into peril.

My nation is a theoracy, rule by religious entitlement, which I would never condone IRL. Should other countries invade me or seek my destruction because my government derives its political power from religion?

Al puts it well in saying in hating the haters, we become haters too.

hudson bay - June 18, 2005 11:17 AM (GMT)
If you want someone to invade these mean regions why not ask George W? He'll invade anything

Thanks for choosing a different avatar

I now understand everyone's problem. I shall withdraw form this fight now, with honour, as you all request it. I will write to request to the Mods.. As for Dubya, only three more years of mismanaging of the USA!! Put your hands together   I am glad that I live in Canada :Canada: :Canada: I do like America, just not their leader and what he does

hudson bay - June 19, 2005 01:04 AM (GMT)
You are welcome to stay, if you have any other interests than invading regions. B)

There is a lot going on in the forum. Take your time and look around, you might find something you like....

Rivotril she was refering to me (as the MoJ) not W.

Before someone hunts me down and shoots me, I'd like to say that I clicked on the wrong button and I meant to say no to region crashing. I've been crashed when in other regions, and nothing good comes out of it.

We'll let you off :D.

I just want to know who voted YES in my poll, besides me.

Carbanousa - June 28, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
Not me.

Freezing Cold Water - June 28, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
Not me either. If I can remember correctly.

Where I come from it's considered rude to ask how a person voted. Voting in a poll is a private matter.

However, since I'm posted earlier how I voted I'll tell you I voted "Null" but would vote "no" if I had to make a choice.

Almonaster - June 29, 2005 12:36 AM (GMT)
I voted NO.

I'm definitely against, as a Canadian. I fully support our doctrine of avoiding that side of the game.

As a TPC/RLA trooper I have participated in defender operations to retake a region from invaders.

Yeah. I agree. Good point, hb!!!

Zaws - August 1, 2005 04:06 PM (GMT)
It's not hard to make it so you can only vote for one option, you know...

I couldn't resist voting for all three. :(

I don't care if we wanted to make it look like we are inavding regions when in reality we're not really?

Emus in denial - August 2, 2005 04:01 AM (GMT)
just saw this thread really late, I was briefly wondering if the problem word was "come", "dark", "side" or "have"

NoFunNinjas - October 14, 2005 06:57 AM (GMT)
defence only? i was thinking we should claim the region of idaho and make it part of canada. or at least just get rid of the nazis that are currently there. they give this place a bad name.

Vatican Swiss Guard - October 14, 2005 04:17 PM (GMT)
Use the power when there is no diplomatic way.
Call enemies to us, will not benefit Canada in any point.
Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence and justice.

NoFunNinjas - October 15, 2005 12:03 AM (GMT)
but nobody likes nazis.

Vatican Swiss Guard - October 15, 2005 06:19 PM (GMT)
Yes you're right, that is the common feeling among our comunity, i think so, but its not sufficient to justify a conflict..

Beaver-Country-Canada - October 15, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
Hey guys, Canada is not a region-crashing region. We do not invade, crash or try to take over any regions -- Canada is a peaceful region.

The only time we MAY crash a region is when they have done something to one of our diplomatic relations, and even then, we are very wary about getting into that side of the game.

Keep Canada the way it is, and leave other regions out of it!
