Title: Greater Nova York
Description: Request for Alliance

bweezy - February 2, 2004 03:56 PM (GMT)
The International Democracy of New Cyprus, the delegate for Greater Nova York, has asked whether we'd be interested in entering into an alliance.

I've told him we'll put it on the agenda for when the new Foreign Minister is elected. I have no intention of binding this region to any alliance. I'll leave those decisions to Cabinet.

In the meantime though, it probably wouldn't hurt to open up diplomatic relations with this region by sending an envoy to see what's up.

Does anyone wish to become the Canada's diplomatic envoy to Greater Nova York? It seems to be a stable democracy of about 80 nations. My sense is that it is like Canada, only 1/3 of the size, but with a founder already in place.

FYI, our current diplomatic ties are as follows:
Envoys are in the North Pacific (Micon), the South Pacific (Boardz) and Portugal (bweezy). Also, I keep in contact with the region of Urbanites, though we have no official envoy there at this time. Lastly, I'm in Alberta right now, watching over the transition to democracy.

If anyone is interested in the GNY assignment, please post your intentions here or PM me.

I visited GNY today. Nice region. about 1/3 our size, it's offsite boards are a lot like ours. They have a constitution and seem to be building up a democracy in much the same fashion as we are. I think it would be good to form diplomatic relations with these guys. They would be a good barometer for us, and we probably could learn a lot from each other. All in all, it was a nice, friendly "feel good" sort of place.

Des Plaine has come forward to be our contact to the region of GNY. He'll be visiting their boards and reporting back here periodically with any news.
