Title: Currently Listening To...
Description: What music is hot in your nation?

Melissa - February 7, 2004 08:01 PM (GMT)
This might seem a funny question...is anyone else a little creeped out by that Clay Aiken song? (you know, that one about him talking about if he were invisible?)...might just be me :)

Thanks for the suggestions people...I'm slowly fading out of the Michael Jackson stuff.

Went to "name that tune" last night at a local bar here, and during the 80's plus round, I had an idea! Why not make a 80's hits CD?? (of course, I grew up through the 80's...so it's nostalgia :)) Now all I need is good 80's songs that everyone can recognize and feel somewhat shamed to like :P

bweezy - January 22, 2004 06:48 PM (GMT)
Currently, Bweezystan's radio airwaves have been playing "Stupify" by Disturbed an awful lot recently.

Love that song.

Checkers McDog - January 22, 2004 08:01 PM (GMT)
radio in CM consists solely of "Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin, "Slow Change" by Jimmies Chicken Shack, and "Survive" by Warsaw Pack being played over and over again

Canadiiya - January 22, 2004 08:11 PM (GMT)
My launchcast radio station currently has an addiction to RHPS

hudson bay - January 22, 2004 09:25 PM (GMT)
The current hit here is "Stacy's Mom has got it going on" by Fountains of Wayne. Starting to get a little stail though.

What is RHPS?

Canadiiya - January 22, 2004 09:47 PM (GMT)
Sadly enough, I have a friend who's name is Stacy...and her mother does not "got it goin' on".

Rocky Horror Picture Show :)

Micon - January 22, 2004 11:32 PM (GMT)
We are Currently listening to a station 97.7 HTZ FM at www.htzfm.com. A pretty station playing a lot of new rock with some old classics. The new morning guy is from cjay fm in calgary. Not a bad new edition.

hudson bay - January 23, 2004 12:09 AM (GMT)
Thanks Canadiiya - that gave me a laugh...

Boreal Tundra - January 23, 2004 01:32 AM (GMT)
Car and offce radio on K-Rock 97.3 classic rock. Right now, the morning crew is at HedonismIII in Jamaica (Bastards!)

Micon - January 23, 2004 01:35 AM (GMT)
Where is k rock 97.3, and do they have web site.

Boardz - January 23, 2004 01:11 PM (GMT)
Boards of Canada's only recognised Radio Station is BBC Radio 2. Its a throw back from an old regime.

Sadly its the Jeremy Vine show and all he does is have callers who express really dated political views from middle class middle england house wives.

And the music is all awful. I am going to have to get some entertainment reforms going on in this country. :(

bweezy - January 23, 2004 06:04 PM (GMT)
Currently, the people of Bweezystan have gotten into a Disco phase... K.C. and the Sunshine Band is getting far too much airplay... (I'm sure I'll snap out of it soon...)

bob - January 23, 2004 10:44 PM (GMT)
Eel Cezno's air waves are broadcasting hippie music with communist sublminal messages. :D

dunefish - January 24, 2004 07:54 AM (GMT)
The population of Sharpie Lovers recently discovered the song "House of the Rising Sun" and radio stations receive hundreds of requests daily for its broadcast.

hudson bay - January 24, 2004 02:40 PM (GMT)
'discovered the song "House of the Rising Sun" '

Which version? the one my the Anaimals?

Boreal Tundra - January 24, 2004 11:22 PM (GMT)
Hey Micon,

K-Rock is in Edmonton. The people who went with the morning show to Hedo are in for a rude welcome home.... -18 (-29 with wind chill) and snow!

the_mcrae_clan - January 25, 2004 08:27 AM (GMT)
House of the Rising Sun, by The Animals... I think the Sharpie Lover's imported that from The McRae Clan :D
The classics are the best.

Our clansman these days listen to a little Sum 41, 3 Doors Down, and are all big fans of Linkin Park.

dunefish - January 25, 2004 10:30 AM (GMT)
McRae is right the version we're listening to is by the Animals.

But the White Stripes are making a comeback, as is "Are you Gonna Be My Girl" by Jet.

Ah - Linkin Park. "Numb" is a favourite in Bweezystan right now...

bweezy - January 30, 2004 09:32 PM (GMT)
Bweezystan's airwaves have been predictably overrun by the Retro 80's Old School stylings of MC Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock...

Canadian Commie - February 1, 2004 06:06 AM (GMT)
WEEN IS YOUR GOD

ween, offspring been in heavy circulation

the_mcrae_clan - February 4, 2004 08:04 AM (GMT)
Yes! Godbless Offspring!

I hear Green Day has a new album coming out...

saskatoon saskatchewan - February 4, 2004 08:18 AM (GMT)
Currently, Saskatoon Saskatchewan, is going through a phase of Smack my Bitch Up by Prodigy and Ocean Avenue by Yellowcard. Ocean Avenue is such a bad song, it's actually half decent. We love the Ni...ight part to it.

The nation of Canadiiya unanimously supports your liking anything by Prodigy, and suggests you find more things by them to listen to.

We are currently playing a great deal of Cat Power and Dirty Vegas.

TheNintendoEmerates - February 4, 2004 11:06 PM (GMT)
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones dominate the radio stations in The Dubiously Fascist Sates of The Nintendo Emerates; partly by choice and partly by force.

Checkers McDog - February 5, 2004 08:23 PM (GMT)
Incubus' new album A Crow Left of the Murder is currently in constant rotation, much to the liking of the people of CM

Melissa - February 5, 2004 11:32 PM (GMT)
Maehara is recently on an old-school Michael Jackson kick, you know, back when he didn't look like an alien... :)

Anybody got any suggestions for good songs? I'm...um...not burning a CD for my own personal use lol ;)

Melissa

saskatoon saskatchewan - February 6, 2004 09:35 AM (GMT)
Oh, don't worry, over here, we love Prodigy and Rage agianst the Machine... I particularyl like the song "killing in the name" it's one of rage's best tracks, currently downloading as much prodigy as i can find on Winmx. It's shitty to try and find stuff, however, it still works.

Beer, and another. I won't lie to y'all, I've been drinking tonight, only like ten to fourteen beer ro something. later y'all.

hudson bay - February 7, 2004 05:49 PM (GMT)
Melissa - since no one else has answered I'll give you my two cents on Michael Jackson. First while I like a lot of different kinds of music I've never been a fan. The only disc of his I ever bought is "Off the Wall". The only song I can strongly recommend you check out is: "Working Day and Night". There are some other songs on the disc that are not bad but that one really cooks...

bweezy - February 7, 2004 05:52 PM (GMT)
As for Michael Jackson, I was a bit of a fan. The first "Pop" album my brother or I ever owned was "Thriller".

I just downloaded a bunch of his stuff last week.

My favourite song of his is "Leave Me Alone", which I believe was on the Bad album. It isn't one of his bigger hits, but is clearly my favourite. I also am partial to Thriller, Beat it, and Billy Jean. I don't mind Smooth Criminal, but Alien Ant Farm did a far better version of that song.

I agree. AAF rocks...I almost forgot about them

bob - February 7, 2004 10:13 PM (GMT)
Yeah that Clay Aiken son is creepy and the lines "I'll make you mine tonight", "watching you in your sleep". Most people I know call it the "stalker song".

you sure like a lot of 80's music...very fitting with your nation name

Melissa - February 8, 2004 01:04 AM (GMT)
Wow Bweezy, you're an 80's god!!!!! :) Thanks for all the great music!!!

My brother's favorite band used to be Rush, so I have heard almost anything of theirs. He is also a drummer and used to train himself to drum along with Neil Peart...now he's an excellent drummer, just like Peart is :)

Micon - February 8, 2004 02:24 AM (GMT)
Great 80's tunes Bweezy, add some bohemian rhapsody, by queen, maybe some cheap trick.

Peart still blows me away. I watch him in awe on the Rush in Rio DVD. His eight minute solo is something else.

Neil Peart is an amazing drummer in edition to a great lyricist. Bweezy I don't know if you had heard about peart about 10 years ago he got bored with his style of drumming. He went back to the basics and learned the instrument from a totally different perspective. He played the album ( I am not sure which one) but he played equally as well, maybe better. After the album and tour he took the best of each style and that is where we see him now. Litterly amazing.

BTW have you had chance to read his book "Ghostrider". I have just started, quite good.

I didn't read Ghostrider. I did know he became a student of drumming in general. He picked up Jazz, and created the albums "Burning for Buddy" and "Burning for Buddy II", a tribute to jazz drummer Buddy Rich.

In the Rush in Rio DVD, there is an interview with him where he states his drum solo is meant to be a mini-history of all forms of drumming, with a section reserved for various styles and eras.

bweezy - February 9, 2004 04:44 PM (GMT)
Now Bweezystan is in a full Evanescence kick. It has nothing to do with the fact that Amy Lee looked so good at the Grammys...
