Title: Worlds Fair

Daemon - January 26, 2005 03:09 PM (GMT)
The Conservative Party would like to know what the government intends to do with the up coming Worlds Fair. Most specifically:

1) Is there a plan in place?
2) Are their volunteers for running it?
3) Is there any one that can wip up some photoshopped ads for Canada's both?
4) Shouldn't we register soon if we intend to do this? (Fed 1st is the day)
5) Should we actively advertise this to any other regions that we have diplomatic ties with? (Through Embassies?)

Mr. B - January 26, 2005 09:03 PM (GMT)
I should be able to help out with any ads or booth graphics or whatever you need. However, being away the last few days this is the first Im hearing of this, as embarrassing as that is. Could someone point me towards some info? I'd like to take the lazy way out rather than look myself ^_^

thanks

Mr. B - January 26, 2005 09:07 PM (GMT)
Hey look at that, I found it all by myself! I think it sounds like a neat idea, worth discussing. I tried in the other thread, but again more Popo hijinx. Why is he always getting naked?

...there's an idea for a poster....

Daemon - January 26, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
The Fair Grounds are here. I took a quick poke around, and there seems to be only mild activity from other regions so far. I think that if we expect to see any returns from this, that we should help pique people's interest.

It looks great....I'm really excited to get involved in this :D

1) No, there isn't any plan. As I see it, we can start off with a little history of both the region, and the real country. Perhaps this is a venture that our Ministry of Doughnuts and Beer might like to take on organizing....?
2) I'm in.
3) I'll take a shot at it sometime....but I'm not very good at that sort of thing. Someone else may be able to do something better. Regions are submitting several different ads, so I suggest everyone who wants to, just make one up.
4) Yes. I'm a little busy right now, but later tonight, or by latest tomorrow night, I will contact Loop and get our booth/forum set up.
5) Yes. Perhaps once we can get an ad, we'll post it up in all our embassies.

I'll start some information-gathering as soon as I can. Daemon, being my Deputy, feel free to PM me or post in a conspicuous place with information that you want to be included.

Actually, that applies to anyone--if you have some piece of data you're just *dying* to include, let me know.

Daemon - January 27, 2005 08:00 PM (GMT)
Fo shou.

People should feel free to post ideas here, or PM the MoBD or I about ideas.

I think that we can compile a history of Canada, and maybe have a one or two sentence write up on the residents. Like:

QUOTE
Redundancies: Minister of Beer and Doughnuts. Has an obsession with cheese and taking over the world

Or something like that. Just so that people get a feel for the neighbourhood. We can either have people submit their own write ups, or just make a list of people, and have someone do all the write ups, or do a "secret Santa" approach to writing them.

Posters would be cool too. Checkers is going to do some of them, any one else interested?

Redundancies - January 27, 2005 08:16 PM (GMT)
You know, I just noticed that you've been calling the Ministry "Beer and Do(ugh)nuts", when the actual name is "Doughnuts and Beer".

Anyway, those are good ideas. We can pull most of the information from bweezy's "History of Canada" post and the NSWiki entry.

And I'll compile a list of currently-active posters, and perhaps a couple of recently-ceased posters like Blackshear and the aforementioned bweezy, and we can start arguing about how to implement the data.

Daemon - January 27, 2005 08:33 PM (GMT)
Yet, but I prefer Beer to Doughnuts.

Cool. Let me know if I can help.

MrPopo - January 28, 2005 10:00 AM (GMT)
The CSPC would like to suggest the following ideas:
1) adding to the "ads" or posts a link to the regional webpage (let me know first before that post is made so i can update the map. Sunday/Moday is the most convenient time for me to update the webpage. I need to add changes to the constitution and diplomatic ties thread. As well many new nations have just requested to join the map and I need tme to add them)
2) A link or posting of the regional map, to glorify our region and our organizational skills
3)MrPopo running around naked

If there are any objections to any of the above, the CSPC will happily retract their statement and replace it will "More nakedness from MrPopo".

PS: I like the idea of a secret santa type dealy to post a comment or two about each of the members. Who would organize? And who is willing to collect and combine the telegrams and post them someplace?

Redundancies - January 28, 2005 01:16 PM (GMT)
Organizing a secret santa would take way too much time (more time than we have)and effort. In a little while, I'll post my preliminary list and we can add to it as needed.

Daemon - January 28, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
Yeah, Red is probably right. Still, it would be a cool idea.

Maybe the best thing is to have people PM Red or myself with write ups, and then we compile them...

Baribeau - January 28, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
Aww. Secret Santa would be so cool.

It would make it seem like no one was ever blinded by anyone's streaking ;)

oh, and whatever the banner thingy winds up being, skew it so it's sideways.

Checkers McDog - January 29, 2005 01:04 AM (GMT)
Oh, btw, I sent a PM to Loop this morning on the World's Fair board, about setting us up a forum.....no reply as of yet.

He wants to write something mean about me, I know it <_<

But yeah, I would suggest that if anyone wants to add anything, to their own or others' descriptions, they should just PM it to Red.

And if anyone has any posters or ideas for posters, you can post them here, or if you want, you can PM them to me.

We've got a forum set up everyone!

(I think you have to sign up to see it though).

EDIT: Nevermind, you don't.

Freezing Cold Water - January 30, 2005 11:37 PM (GMT)
What's the forum? Can some one tell me where it is?

Thanks

Ess - January 30, 2005 11:46 PM (GMT)
Hey, FCW! Here's the link.
Scroll down to see Canada. :)

Freezing Cold Water - January 31, 2005 04:03 AM (GMT)
Okay, Thanks. :)

Redundancies - January 31, 2005 03:01 PM (GMT)
Since Bweezy has decided to leave, I took it upon myself to add to the History post in the FAQ forum (since I don't have mod power on that forum, I just added a Reply). We can consolidate those posts and post them in the World's Fair.

If anyone feels anything needs to be added, let me know.

Checkers McDog - January 31, 2005 09:35 PM (GMT)
Thanks a lot for taking on that task Red, great job

btw, I've given you mod powers in that forum now.

Almonaster - February 6, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
I've just noticed that

A chic neon propaganda entry = Canada the non-crappy region.

Perhaps it should go on a neon sign somewhere?
